This book updated Oral V. "Curley" Rhodes' "Music City Quick Look" annual directory. Rhodes' labor of love was a true "Who's Who" of Music Row "movers and shakers."

I was pleased to be regularly listed in both Rhodes' directory and in Sadler's "Everything You Want to Know About the Record Industry in Nashville, Tennessee, Country Music Capital of the World."

(Despite his annual disclaimer, while David Ross' "In Charge" purports to be the modern-day successor to Rhodes' and Sadler's efforts, it is less a "Who's Who" than a social register. More along the lines of City Press Publishing's *N Focus,* "In Charge" commits a journalistic no-no by trading editorial for advertising, while including in its listings, realtors, attorneys and those who reside outside of Music City- some even outside of Tennessee- with only a tenuous connection to the music industry- at best.)

Curley and Barry would not have approved. So, while it is dated, I would heartily recommend Barry's book to those who want to know not only about other aspects of the business that ring true to this day, but also who the leaders of our industry were at a time when the emphasis was on music and creativity rather than the business of bean-counting forced upon it by consolidation.

Gestation of Darwin's Origin
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2005-04-12
This is actually one of the better studies of the gestation of Darwin's theory from his early travels and researches from the 1840's to the publication of Origin. The author brings out the way in which Darwin's thinking crystallized before he had the foundations of knowledge to put forth his thesis, and his hesitations, doubts, and uncertainties are clear from the record. In fact, the lack of evidence for his thesis was central to his difficulties. He was forced to argue not so much for the correct theory as the least objectionable one. And in fact, among other reasons due to the prodding of his sudden competitor Wallace he was forced to publish too soon. Lots of interesting details from Darwin's notebooks, a useful and cogent study.

Review Date: 2007-03-27
We are one body, born into the Universe, discovering greater awareness of our Creative Intention. Earth bound history is over, universal history has begun. We are born into a Universe of immeasurable possibilities.

We live at the most marvelous moment in human history. Everyone now alive is involved in the greatest upheaval since Humanity emerged out of the animal world. We are at the dawn of "conscious evolution," when the creature-human first becomes aware of the proceseses of creation and begins to participate deliberately in the design of our world.

We are the first generation to awaken to the awesome fact that we are affecting the future by our very act, from the number of children we have and the kind of food we eat to the creation of new life forms and new worlds in space. We will either stumble blindly toward a new order of the ages. We will begin the great evolutionary tasks: the restoration of Earth, the freeing of people from want, the development of the vast untapped potential of our body-minds and the exploration of the unlimited frontiers of space.

The most effective (and easy) way to learn statistics
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2005-07-11
For a while, I was looking for a good book on statistics, and finally, I found it! This book is excellent for those who are going to start learning statistics (every thing is explained very well from very beginning!) as well as for those (like me) who look for more advanced books. It is almost perfect! It has precise and clear explanations, simple brief examples, thoughtfully chosen questions and tasks at the end of each chapter, good overall organization. Every word (well, sentence) contributes to understanding of concepts, no unnecessary information, no waste of time. Every new concept is built on the previous ones, no gaps in explanation, no unanswered questions. It feels as if the author follows a reader's mind, if some questions arise they get answered in the next paragraphs. Pure pleasure! Ultimate book on statistics! Highly recommend.

Wonder collection of photos from the late Senator

I was very impressed with the layout of this book. It shows the talent of Goldwater's photography, using his favorite subjects, scenery of the state of Arizona and his family.

I gave this book as a gift to my mother, who was raised in Arizona and knew the Goldwater family. Since she now lives in Virginia, she longs from time to time the landscape of red rocks and the dry desert. This book gave her reminiscence, and she throughly enjoyed it.

This book was put together with people in hurry in mind. Although the thrust of the book is glass painting in a hurry, there is no compromise on the quality and ingenuity of the designs - all can be achieved by the beginner and expert alike. Don't miss our new book, The Complete Guide to Stamping published in March 2004. Also, if you have access to broadband internet you can watch our regular TV show, Alan & Barry's Craft Choice on www.createandcraft.tv. Look out for the website where you can get many of the paints and materials used in this book - www.rainbowglass.com

The work outlines the all-important liver overload from inflammation and fat storage. Inadequate fiber, excess inorganic chemicals from medicinals and caffeine cause bloating and fatigue. In addition, dairy, gluten , sugar and yeast promote an adverse autoimmune response in the body.

Model foods to reduce the autoimmune response without too many medicinals consist of lean protein, cayenne, cinnaomon, veggies, cranwater and ginger. Stevia + is a good tonic to sweeten foods according to the author.

Overall, the work will help to promote good health naturally. The acquisition would be a good addition to your personal library.

This one worked for me

I've tried two other self-hypnosis series, but this one is different. In the others sometimes I went into a hypnosis like state, other times I just stayed awake and listened to him speak.

Barrie puts me under every time. I have managed to listen to the text a few times (he recomends it), but I have to do so in smaller chunks because when this guy talks I go under! I've been on one of his programs for a few months now (fear of success) and it has helped me so much (no BS...), that I've started the control you weight one, and that one is starting to work for me too.

The suggestions he makes are positive and good--you can do it type of stuff. Listen to it before you go to sleep. He also makes the suggestion that you'll feel refreshed and ready to go in the morning. Good stuff indeed.

Worth a try.

Seeks to connect the trials and tribulations of history with the modern-day questions
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2006-10-08
Feasting With The Deacon is a spiritual novel exploring the questions, "As spiritual beings, must we first feed our souls or give that attention to our bodies?" and "What are the consequences of unconditional love?" The setting is the first century A.D., and Deacon Silas ben Gaddiel and his family seek to survive the conflicts among early Christians, share the joy inherent in experiencing the faith and such simple pleasures as sharing a meal, and the perils confronted daily by the faithful for living under the Roman rule of Nero. Offering insight into the philosophy of Silas, the "Feeding Deacon", Feasting With The Deacon seeks to connect the trials and tribulations of history with the modern-day questions confronting both spiritual and practical life.
