This excellent textbook is less than 300 pages, and yet I didn't feel like I learned any less than someone who read a 1000
page textbook on the same subject. This is a comprehensive, introductory volume that is, surprisingly for a textbook, extremely
well written. This book delivered Biogeography to my mind, and my great teacher Dr Patrick Armstrong of Univeristy of Western
Australia made it come alive in my head. Everything you need to lead you into the fascinating study of our tangible world
is here. Read it!

Outstanding scholar and analyst of Middle Eastern affairs

Rubin is one of those one- man factory scholars who produce a tremendous amount of work on a wide variety of subjects- each
of which is done with excellence. As a popular columnist for the 'Jerusalem Post' he is perhaps the most sane, balanced, insightful
analyst of Middle East affairs now working. His deep knowledge of the Arab world and its thought enable him to understand
fully the often illusionary- elements involved in Western perceptions of this world. He is an expert on Syria and its politics,
has written a biography of Arafat whose tactical game he elucidates with brilliance. But his grasp is in fact of the whole
Middle Eastern area and his insights on its processes of development, or the lack thereof, are however disturbing, accurate
and reliable.

Children are fascinated by this beautifully illustrated picture book about a homeless young girl who discovers a house where
birds gather. Cynthia Rylant's beautiful prose makes this an excellent read-aloud.It has been a favorite in our school library,
and has led to many interesting discussions and written responses.

My 2 1/2 yr. old son loves this book. We read at least 2 times a day. I have to say I enjoy it too. It teaches the importance
of telling the truth and family. You also learn about animals, places and plants (as with the Thornberry's TV show). My
son actually prefers the book to the show now. Just like the boy who cried wolf, the bird learns its lesson and there is
a happy ending. Perfect book for beginning readers and/or kids who can pay attention to more than a few words on the page.

This is Barry Humphries from his later Dada days. It's a collection of everything weird, outlandish, unexpected and literally
bizarre. Where else would you find a photograph of a three-legged man and other oddities of nature.
There is no easy way to classify, or even describe, this eclectic collection or anthology of the bizarre. There are pages on sexual topics. There are pages showing the effects of many different ways to mutilate pictures of the Mona Lisa. There is a wealth of detail, with the one theme being the bizarre nature of the contents.
This book is a lot of fun if you have an appreciation of the bizarre. It's classical Barry Humphries, playfully satirizing the world with its own bizarreness.

A great female super hero action novel - I can't wait to see the movie!

A page turning female super hero action novel that lives somewhere between a comic book and pulp fiction, although better
written than most comics or pulps.
It's a terrific story that is carried along nicely by a world class word-smith who doesn't care much about the rules.
What a great movie this book would make. Can't wait to see that one.
I knew Len Barry wrote his own songs such as "1-2-3" or "Like A Baby" back in the sixties, but a novel like this one? Who knew?
What a talent this guy is.

The correct title of this poem is: HEARING YOU READ, SEEING YOU IN THE IVY/ AT LAUGHARNE GRAVEYARD,/ THEY ASK TO READ WHAT
YOU'VE WRITTEN.
The poem explores setting out, beginning, apprenticeship. Basic jobs of the called poet. It is a pilgrimage. The young poet visits the ancestor, Dylan Thomas. "These children hear you,//no mother keeps them in bed." Barry Grimes, setting out, a child of his times--the 60's--accepts the responsibility of the poet at the same time that he declines to do things as they've been done in the past.
"Each is a presence before either is a word," the poet writes. This isn't going to be a short story. If you can't break through the mask you will neither be listened to, nor heard.
How different than things are today, 2005.
This letterpressed broadside, the first publication from Blue Begonia Press, is itself a kind of beginning. Printed in winter, the old swinging garage door still claiming, "This place is for cars," not closing properly, almost obstinate in its crooked swinging and hanging. No insulation in this press either, and it shows in the stiff ink.
The broadside itself reportedly went through several printings. No count of the edition was made. Grimes signed none of the broadsides. Printing is so-so, but the printer knows nothing yet about leading.
"Children lesten when they know they aren't alone," Grimes writes. Grimes, a Washington State Teacher of the Year is still in the classroom today. One wonders, "repeating a repeating pattern," who the teachers of this generation will be.
