One of the best books I've ever read on Einstein's theories and their implications for a wide range of ideas that continue to vex and fascinate not just scientists, but anyone interested in science. Rather than focus on his ground-breaking theories of General and Special Relativity, Parker chooses to explore Einstein's influence on such disparate concepts as cosmology, black holes, time travel, the shape of space, quantum physics, the atomic bomb, unified field theory, superstrings...the list goes on and on. When Einstein's personal life is appropriate it is discussed, but for the most part this book focuses on mind-blowing concepts. I definitely came away amazed at how much this genius is truly at the base of virtually all contemporary physics and cosmology.

Barry is a very well known, highly respected and extremely experienced spiritual director, retreat director, and psychologist who writes this text out of that wealth of theoretical knowledge and pastoral experience for spiritual directors and primarily for directors of Ignatian retreats. The title affirms a faith that God deals directly with souls and the director's task is merely to facilitate that relationship, assisting retreatants to clarify their desires, be open to God's self-revelation, and understand their unique role in the divine plan using imaginative prayer, feeling, discernment and previous touchstone religious experience. These themes and more are developed in this masterful text that would be profitable not just to spiritual directors but to anyone whose spirituality is Ignatian or based in the Spiritual Exercises.

A really terrific book for any young person wanting to learn about frogs or toads. Great information on types of frogs and thier habits. My nephew loved it and recites all the interesting facts to anyone who will listen. The pictures are actual photos not cartoons or drawing.

This was a very weel done book. It includes the entire wedding story as told in the comics. It even features the newspaper strips in which the wedding took place. Also, pictures of the real-life ceremony between Spidey and MJ at Shea Stadium are included. There is even a 60's spoof of Spidey finding his dream girl included. This includes everything one needs to enjoy the experience of the world's premier superhero getting married.

Long (760 pages), slow, and sordid might sound like a back-handed title for a five-star review. Since the book is out of print, and only one used copy is available, it hardly matters. Nevertheless I want to congratulate John M. Barry for researching and writing the most detailed and accurate description I've ever read of how Congress and the American political system functions. It doesn't build confidence, but it's knowledge that all citizens should confront before they toot and vote. Partisans, don't worry! The portrayal of Demublicans is no more wart-free than that of Republirats. If you believe, as my American Grandfather did, that the electoral process usually sends people of above-average ability and character to Washington, you'd better not read this book lest you become morose and disillusioned.
Barry's more recent books, Rising Tide & The Great Influenza, are a good deal more readable for intellectual recreation -- excellent books, in fact -- but this is his masterpiece of reportage.

The book under review is one of the best books that has appeared in the field of Public Choice Theroy. Myself doing a post-doctoral research on the public choice theory, I found it a necessary reading for not only those interested in the field but also for general scholars of political theory. The author has covered almost all the necessary subjects about which all over the world increasing attention is being paid or needs to be paid. This book is an answer to those who find public choice theory as basically a statistical theory only. The books has actually covered all the philosophical underpinnings of the public choice therory. This books stands out to be a highly recommended reading for scholars of social science.
