Sometimes it is who you knowReview Date: 2006-05-09
For her first assignment Nancia was to take a group of other young High Families members also traveling to their first assignments. Nancia was looking forward to spending time with other young people who were like her but quickly became disillusioned. If these were the best the High Families had to offer Nancia began to regret her connections. Once the assignment was completed and Nancia selected her 'brawn' Caleb, she faced a choice, should she tell what she had heard being planned or should she listen to Caleb and respect the privacy of her passengers?
Eventually Nancia's first passengers cross her path again and she discovers that all choices come with consequences, consequences that have so many variables that even a brain ship cannot calculate them.
This is a continuation of the Ship series (THE SHIP WHO SANG) that McCaffery began years before. As always with her work the universe that McCaffery envisions is complete and logically organized. There are references to other characters from other books in this series, and Nancia will herself is referred to in other books, but this story can be enjoyed by itself and would be a good place to sample the series.

Patient BetrayalReview Date: 2003-10-22
I was amazed what this family went through because of human errors that were covered up. Claiming God's promises was the only way they could survive. A MUST READ for everyone. We need to know about malpractice because it can happen to everyone.

Paying Forfeits by Naomi Brooks & Angelia SparrowReview Date: 2008-01-31
As in Collared Hearts the authors have managed to decipt two characters, Sam and William, who have all the elements to be an hateful pair, and instead are wonderful, in their kinkness and in their honesty. They do the worst things inside and outside of the bedroom, but given the love between them, they succeed to built a solid relationship.
Billy maybe is the less impressive character: he is young, very young, and so he has not yet a definite behaviour. He is sweet and cute, like a porcelan doll, very southern girl type. But he has not the bad temper of Scarlet O'Hara, the hateful but irrestible type. I like him, but I see him more like a supporting character.
William is very old fascioned type. Rich and snob, with impeccable manners, he really could be a very odious character. But he is always caring for the others, for his boys, and he has this deeply and unexpressed desire of love.
And finally Sam, my preferred. With his total love for William that can't prevent himself to love also Billy, in different way, yes, but still love. With his jealously, that he can frankly admit and maybe of which he is not at all ashamed, jealously in the end is a way to express love.
All those characters are openly and happily involved in kinky and arousing sex "scenes": what do you want more? for a rather short novel (50 pages) Naomi Brooks and Angelia Sparrow have made a wonderful "complete" work.

A must for your medical bookshelf!Review Date: 1997-08-13
The book's organized approach begins by highlighting growth & developement and how children respond to an emergency and then builds on that to provide an excellent overview of medicial emergencies and trauma care. The entire book places an emphasis on the continuum of care and the importancet of involving parents in the emegency care of their child.
Well researched and strongly written, this book is appropriate for first time students or professionals who just want to brush up on their pediatrics

Should be required readingReview Date: 2007-07-30
While this book is framed as a college-level textbook (and I am currently reading it as a certification requirement), it is a lot less daunting than many college textbooks. The chapters are short and manageable, and cover a wide variety of topics, from budgeting to taxes to credit cards to mortgages to retirement plans. The concepts are presented in a straightforward manner and the chapters are peppered with supplementary blurbs and side articles. At the end of each chapter, there is a wide variety of review exercises, and throughout the book you follow the ongoing financial journeys of several theoretical families.
This book should be used as a primer to real life. One warning, some of the material quickly becomes outdated (for example, the tax chapter), so be mindful of this if you don't have the latest edition.

a good bookReview Date: 2005-05-20
The book is not an easy reading but everything is there for its understanding and the effort is amply rewarded. It seems
that Dr.Friedman delivers on his promise that expirience with concepts such as bounded symmetric domains, homogeneous balls etc. can be beneficial in other areas of research of intrest to a reader.
I highly recommend this book.Dr.Alex Gelman
