The world could use more quality books for young readers. After one has read Willy Wonka, Harry Potter, James and the Giant Peach and Matilda ... what is left?
Elmo Jackson is a welcome addition. As far as this reader is concerned, this book delivers a ride like no other. It is funny, witty, adventurous and an all around good time. If you love superheroes (or even if you don't), you'll love this book.
Another plus is that the book contains nothing whatsoever of an offensive nature. It was nice to read a book that didn't have any "uh-oh" parts in it.
I strongly recommend Elmo Jackson Man of Action as an adventurous read for for all ages. Way to go, B.J. Nybo!

How to use the Bach Flower Remedies with Your Horse
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2007-07-22
Review Date: 2007-07-22
If your horse's behavior has you stymied, and the tried and true training techniques have failed to yield results, this book may help.
Emotional Healing for Horses and Ponies sheds light on the equine view of the world, which is often so very different from our own. Authors Stefan Ball, Heather Simpson, and Judy Howard remind us that most of all, horses are prey animals, and everything they think and feel is filtered through that prism.
They address a host of what we often perceive as difficult or puzzling behaviors, not only explaining the horse's perspective but offering specific advice on the appropriate uses for the various Bach Flower Remedies, which work on a vibrational level to bring emotions into balance.
Among the common dilemmas they address are trailer and travel problems, fear and anxiety, boredom, aggression, and grief. Rather than simply prescribing one particular remedy as a cure-all for a particular situation, the authors stress the importance of understanding the root cause of the behavior, because there are subtle nuanced differences in the ways in which each remedy will affect the nervous system.
For example, if a horse is fearful of entering a trailer for no apparent reason, Mimulus might be helpful. If you know that the horse's refusal is a result of a previous traumatic experience, then you might try Star of Bethlehem. If the horse is simply balking because of wariness of a new experience, then Walnut might be in order. Or if a horse panics and completely loses control, Rescue Remedy could be just the thing to ease the stress.
The authors provide a glossary of the vibrational qualities and equine uses for each of the 38 Bach Flower Remedies, with advice as to how to administer them. They have packed this slim volume with dozens of stories and examples of how the remedies, coupled with other types of intervention, can ameliorate "the stress of living with people." If you own or work with horses, it's an invaluable guide.

"Enough Balls to Finish" is one of those books that need to be on every investor's coffee table and in the clubhouse of your favorite Golf venue. The title alone will force a conversation.
Slyman kept me intrigued with each lesson. He does a brilliant job in bringing together the two worlds that often can bring great joy and despair at the same time. His life lessons on the course and in the investment community play together nicely, almost forcing you to think what the next lesson will be and how he will tie the world of golf into it.
Along the way he will teach you a thing or two about your retirement plans. In the end it forced me to take a second look at my overall strategy as it pertains to investing. Well done.

This rolling eleemnt bearing manual is geared toward mechanical engineers and technicians who are involved in troubleshooting radial/thrust rolling element bearings. The design information is very well iluustrated and is a valuable guide to understanding the root cause of your excessive bearing failures, poor MTBF, and overheating issues. This is not really a basic book, its written more for the medium to advanced level practitioners.
For machinery designers, look no further, this book answers all of the critical bearing questions, and shows the various design applications. This is not just another theoretical book with simplified diagrams, it's a real designers manual.

Fantastic book. Amazing what these amateur athletes go through for the love of the sport. Corcorans very personal story is a window into the sacrifices and triumphs of one of the greatest modern day hurlers in Ireland. A must read whether you're a passionate GAA supporter, or can appreciate a great sports autobiography.

I havin't read a book this good in quite a while. It was very realistic, and I could see eveyrthing happening before my eyes like I was watching a movie. It was so easy to imagine... I always try to do that with all the books I read, but lately I just havin't been able to, and then I found this book! The plot is great, although it has to do with stalking (which has been done before) the plot it self was very original. One of the things I especially liked about it was, there was so much mystery in it, it realy got you thinking. Not many books are like that any more.

This fine series is slightly marred by a tendency to typographic error. This book is no exception, and you will struggle to make sense of figure 15(b). Oddly, in the list of figures at the front, there is a request that readers notify the publishers of errors in the list. I don't think I've seen anything quite like that in any book before. It suggests that they realize they have a proofreading problem. Instead of asking readers to be on the alert, wouldn't it be better just to have a word with the printer?
At 179 pages, this is one of the longer entries in the series, and every page glows with the author's enthusiasm for his subject. It adopts a rambling, somewhat unstructured approach but is packed full of fascinating historical and scientific detail. And yes, when the author does finally get around to the periodic table, he gives as good an explanation of it as you will find anywhere.
