Baker Books

What originally drew me to this musical was the composer, Stephen Schwartz. Well known for his musicals "Godspell", "Pippin", and "Wicked" and for animated films "Pocahontas" and "The Prince of Egypt", Stephen Schwartz's music has been a favorite of mine.

The story is about a new baker and his wife who just arrived in a small town. The wife is unfaithful, falling in love with another, making the baker lose his want to live.

The music conveys the romance as well as the pain in wonderful songs. There are ballads as well as comedic songs, the most famous song being "Meadowlark". This is Stephen Schwartz at his best! I highly recommend this book of vocal selections!

An eventful time in the Baker household as the five charming 12 year quintuplet girls must all have braces-much to the horror of pretty and sometimes highly strung Zahava.

The Baker's Dozen is a wonderful series of stories about a religious Jewish family named Baker with 12 amazing kids , ranging from 16 to 1 years old , including five charming quintuplet girls ,and all of the exciting adventures that they get up to.
Loads of fun and humour as well as warmth and the demonsttration of how a family pulling together can solve every problem.

In this episode Mrs Baker has to spend some weeks in hospital after an unfortunate household accident , and the kids all pull together to make things work on their own (rather than be parcelled out to their parents friends)
Disasters abound but they are always solved , and in the end they make their parents proud.
A fun and charming way to teach Jewish kids Jewish and family values.
A must for every Jewish child.

Kids love to pick out a cake for their birthdays and my adult children take turns making cakes for holidays. We have gotten a lot of use from this book.

While this book is sort of a children's book, being very short and with lovely illustrations, it's more of a homage to baking bread. Real bread: nourishing, filling, whole-wheat bread. There's only one recipe, and the lovely prose talks you through it, throwing in information about the history of bread and the science of bread.

It's too bad it's out of print: given the current interest in whole grains, and the rising cost of food which is leading to more people cooking from scratch, it's a lovely gift to either a child or an adult who is interested in learning how to bake a perfect loaf of bread.

Kyle Baker's work on Plastic Man got him attention, but this collection proves that it was the man, & not the comic book character that got the laughs.

A lot of cartoonists can DRAW, but Baker can TELL A STORY...without words, if he wants to.

His sparkling sense of humor makes this collection something I treasure.

These are wonderful tapes. Whenever I need a little boost in life so that I feel refreshed and myself again I will put one of these tapes in. They are very grounding and encouraging. I highly recommend these tapes if you are looking for something to help you recharge and relax.

This is a wonderful collection of poems, prayers, and quotes from many sources, ancient and modern. This book can be picked up and read a little at a time or all at once. It can be read simply for your own enjoyment or used in prayer services, classes, meditations.....

I appreciated the laserlike focus of this book. Most books written for coaches of young players focus, for instance most of excellent books published by Little League, on how to teach particular skills. This is important. But having a fun way to practice those skills, in order to create teaching moments, is equally as important and that's what this book does. Baker does an excellent job of describing a variety of games and activities that a coach can use in planning his (or her) practice, while still stressing possible coaching points. Baker also largely avoids falling into the trap of listing two nearly identical drills in a quest to meet an arbitrary number (150 in this case). For the coach of the young player (ages 10 and under) this is undoubtedly the best drill book on the market.
