I have just read I am Wings and I thought that it was a great book. It is full of love stories about getting together and going through the heartbreak of breaking up but still getting through the heartbreak. I think that it was a good book because it taught you about love and how it feels to be in love from when you were a kid to when you were full grown and all the memories that you and your loved ones had.

I read this book with my Language Arts class and have an absolutely fabulous teacher. Every day in class we have a quote of the day and then do a "quick write". After we do this we read one of Ralph Fletcher's I Am Wings: Stories of Love and evaluate based on the way the words are layed out on the pages and talking about it out loud; figure out what the poem means. It is a very realistic book and challenges young and old alike to think about what the author is trying to say and talks in depth about the typical middle school dating relationship. As my class got into the book I found myself looking forward to the poems and the saga of Lea and his girlfriend. Great book for anyone. ~Amanda~

"The Pig War" was written as part of the "I Can Read" series of books for beginning readers. It tells about an event in 1859, when San Juan Island, in what is now Washington State, was claimed by both British trappers and American owners. Tensions were rising, when a British pig was shot in an American garden. The real potential for war existed following this incident. Eventually this was peacefully resolved, resulting in the establishment of the border between what is now America and Canada in that region.

Betty Baker does an excellent job of making this ultimately humorous event readable for young readers. This little book experienced a revival of interest during the Washington State Centennial in 1989. In my opinion, it's still a must-read for students in Washington.

The one drawback to this book is that the illustrations depict the local natives as Plains Indians, and not as Coast Salish. This is a minor distraction, since the story centers on the struggles between the white settlers.

History is rarely an engrossing subject for young readers, but Baker has managed to engage them with a humorous and simple text. This story of the Pig War on the San Juan islands is a must-read for any children from Washington State.

I'm not much of a baker but hate to rely on store bought stuff all the time so The Impatient Baker seemed perfect for me. The Pineapple Upside down Skillet Cake was wonderful and the brownie recipes I've tried thus far were also great.

I bought a few copies for friends and actually made a recipe from the book to give with the first gift - Lemon Sugar Topped Cookies. Super easy and the cookies and the cookbook were both a hit.

I am extremely impatient and love to bake, so this is a perfect book for me. The receipe was very easy to follow and the results were very yummy. The cinnamon on the cake really complements the chocolate chips. I made it to bring to a dinner party and we served it with vanilla ice cream.

I gave the book to my friend and she made the pumpkin chocolate chip muffins and raved about them.

Ms. Baker has created a true masterpiece. She leads us through the worlds of her subjects with the deftness of an artist, which she certainly is. I felt like my heart had been plucked from my chest and its contents poured onto the pages of this marvelous book. This one is definitely a keeper.

Beautiful! This was a surprisingly special book. Wasn't sure what to expect- but I loved it! The poetry and lyricism was truly beautiful. Very romantic but not trivial, quite deep actually. I enjoyed reading the different stories, each one has a character unto its own. Loved the quotes at the beginning of each story!!! Very entertaining, a great read- highly recommend this book!

The first edition of this book had won The American Medical Writer's Award for Best Multi-Authored Text. This is a Third Edition. There is now a 4th Edtion, published in 1999, also available.

This is an excellent book with some very practical tools for implementing personal ethics in the workplace. Geisler's ETHICS model for decision-making is very helpful.

As already noted, it covers all the basics of NT interpretation and provides good bibliography if you want to delve into a particular area more.

This one is the introductory but then there is a "guide" for each of the other genre of the NT in the series, all of which are really good. They are a bit "scholarly" but very useful and readable. If you are a Bible teacher of any capacity (from Pastor to SS teacher to Bible Study leader) you really should consider looking in to this series.

This introductory volume to the Guides to New Testament Exegesis series is a veritable goldmine of useful information on the different genres of interpretation. Short overviews of each genre by well known scholars give you a good grasp of the importance of that particular area of interpretation and the pitfalls and fallacies that present themselves with inaccurate exegesis. While a basic knowledge of Greek is suggested, it is well worth the price of the book for the excellent overview of New Testament background; NT word analysis; sociology and NT exegesis; NT theological analysis; and the function of the OT in the NT - none of which require any Greek. Gets right to the point with meaty information - no throw-away stuff here.
