I read this book when I was 11 years old and I am 19 approaching 20, and to this day I still find the lessons in the book to hold true in my life. Small one-liners like, "learn to be alone" helped me through tough times in school as well as at home. I am purchasing this book now for my younger sister who is the same age I was when first read this book and I really hope this will be as much of a help to her as it was to me.

And you can be sure that in the future my daughters will read this book as well.

This book has two things that make it a great advice book. The first one is that the commentary that describes a "rule" is always funny and includes a quote, and maybe a few tips. The second reason is how beside every rule there is a picture. Yeah well big deal. Actually the pictures are very important in the book because they are all in black and white and most of the pictures show classic moms/woman and kids from the 1950's. With "rules" in the categories of: Romance, Work, Social Life, Family, Money, and Life Tips, there's advice for everyone. =)

All your friends need this book.

I spotted this book in a store, and immediately bought a copy for anyone and everyone I might ever buy something for. It's funny, inspirational and most importantly true. Every girl and woman in the world needs a copy of this book -- it's the perfect manual on how to get the most out of yourself and your life. You'll laugh till you cry.

By Melisa Gao, Teen Editor

Filled with wacky but insightful advice to girls of all ages, The Real Rules for Girls is a book that every woman will wish she had been given earlier in life. Mindy Morgenstern's musings can be hilarious and zany, but always lead to a genuine message that fosters self-esteem and confidence.

The book is divided into sections for romance, work, social life, family, money, and life tips. Each contains offbeat words of wisdom accompanied by comical pictures and quotations from Gloria Steinem, Maya Angelou, and others.

"The football captains of today are the burger jockeys of tomorrow," Morgenstern proclaims, describing a scene in which you, a Nobel laureate and nominee for president, run into that heartthrob from sophomore year who is now an Assistant Manager at McDonalds. "If there isn't a door, kick in a wall," she advises. "Jobs will ... along the way," reads another caption.

It is this kind of frankness that will have older generations nodding their heads in agreement and younger girls eager to read more. The message Morgenstern delivers is to live life to its fullest, pursuing dreams and taking advantage of every opportunity. It is effectively conveyed by creative layouts and entertaining personal stories, making the book a quick and fun read. The Real Rules for Girls makes a great gift and will be enjoyed time and again by young women of all ages.

I ordered this book after hearing glowing recommendations on the Two Peas message boards. It is very well done. The artwork is inventive, and original, I especially liked the layouts from European scrapbookers. Would have liked a little more how-to because the art is so much fun. The best idea book I have seen in a long time.

This book is so nice! It is hardcover and a great size making it feel very elegant. I love the way the authors have set it up in chapters, it is just full of many wonderful examples. Lots of ideas for working with color combinations, but also just plain lots of great ideas for some fun scrapbook layouts. A good book to reference back to often.

Whether you feel like you've already learned all there is to know about color, and its applications in scrapbooking, or feel you're a total novice, this book is a fabulous & fun reference. With nice big photos & pages to suit every taste and
fascinating interpretations of why the not-so-obvious color combo may very well be the perfect one, you'll find yourself turning to its pages time & again for both inspiration & motivation.

This guide got me through organic chem, I only wish I'd bought it earlier in the semester and I might have four-pointed the class. Great idea if you're having a hard time studying by lecture alone. Gives very simple, concise summaries of concepts with lots of examples and diagrams.

This was a great help to me as I prepared for my finals. The last few pages are especially helpful in summerizing the numerous reactions in organic chemistry. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a concise review before a test.

This book simplifies the many aspects covered in "Fessenden & Fessenden" book, and the rxn's at the end are extremely helpful to study for exams. Unfortunately, this book doesn't really get into nucleic acids, but it does a great job covering all functional groups synthesis & rxns! A key book for reference as well as explanations regarding intermediates for rxns. A+

Was looking for a book that highlighted how to scrapbook digitally (not scrapbook on paper with digital items added). This book is absolutely great. So many great ideas and pretty pictures. Easy to do layouts with Photoshop Elements. Great ideas for how to enhance layouts by scanning. All around great book.

I love this book! I've learned so much from it even though I'm actually using PSE6 and not 5. (PSE5 comes with it) I've made about 20+ layouts in about a week's time and until opening this book I had zero experience with PSE. The scrapbooking goodies that came with the DVD are so beautiful and I've gotten so many different looks from them. Great book all around!

Photoshop users will love this book.

This is a great book. The software featured in the book is Photoshop. I have taken one Photoshop class and used the software for about a year. This book covered things NOT covered in the class I took. It is easy to understand and use. I'm NOT doing my scrapbooking digitally but I still love the book.

The Best Digital Scrabooking Guide!
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2008-04-30
This is an amazing book! I'm typically skeptical when it comes to books on technology because I'm a technology teacher. Often these books are far too "Beginners Based" for me to stay interested. However, this book is totally different. I found myself reading through it like it was a best selling novel!

This book comes with a CD that has three complete digital scrapbooking kits. For each kit you get backgrounds and embellishments to add to your scrapbooking pages. Also on the CD is a free trial version of Photoshop Elements which is a wonderful program to use when creating digital scrapbooks.

What makes this book so wonderful is that it's easy for beginners to use but it's also great for those who are avid scrappers but haven't reached "Expert" status yet. It gives you step by step guides in completing tasks in Photoshop. The CD even has some lesson files that you can use to follow along in the book to practice. It's simply amazing!

It's also a wonderful book to get layout ideas from. Purchase this book without hesitation, you won't be disappointed!

I really loved the first (I think) book by these authors. When I saw a new book on scrapbooking sports I got it as soon as it was available. It is really fun! The layouts are beautiful. There is even a step-by-step of how to make a pattern on your paper using a bike tire! Equal weight is given to both girls/women and boys/men. A great book for any scrapbooker.

Get Inspired for Scrapbooking

This book's focus is holiday themed pages and there's a wealth of sample pages to spark your creativity (250 to be exact). It provided inspiration as I worked on a gift scrapbook for my sister.
Each page shows several scrapbook pages with a holiday theme (Christmas, Easter, etc.) and tells how the effects were achieved. I didn't copy any, though you could, but just soaked up ideas on layout, colors, lettering, journaling, etc.
When I laid out my Thanksgiving and Christmas pages, they were some of the best I assembled.
Besides the obvious holidays, the book includes others such as Canada Day, Yom Kippur, Father's Day, and others.

This is a great book filled with all kinds of memories that inspire the heart and mind. The poems within have a wide range of emotions from happy to sad. The ideas are vivid and the author always puts you right in the middle of the poem. I think my father did a wonderful job and I am so proud of him. I hope you all get a chance to buy and read this book. If I can get one person to buy this book and read "Squirell Fishing with Lefty and Iron Balls McGinty" my job is done.

Worldly wise, and wise with words! Excellent characterization, superb descriptions. One feels the zest for life and the salty life Rusty lives! While I do not subscribe to the sex and profantiy (I just skip those poems if they get beyond my tolerance), his poetry is a delight to read and savor. You'll get caught up in the poignancy of "A Blue Texas Sky" or the earthy nostalgia of "A Footnote to Our Youth". And that is but a quick take on the reading pleasure before you.

Creativity and Solutions For All Types of Scrapbookers

The first thing I noticed when I flipped through the book, was the amazingly creative scrapbook layouts on every single page. And the book was not just filled with dozens of layouts, which alone could have made the book.

Scrapbooking for the Time Impaired gives practical suggestions on how to scrapbook quicker for those of any level. A variety of topics are presented, with solutions and advice to save you time and more surprisingly, even money.

I keep this book near my scrapbooking area and have reached for it time and time again. A handy little reference with loads of tips, lists and advice. Easy to read and quite useful.
