Do you want an adventure story that seems to good to be true. Then this book is for you. Co-authored by the commanding Admiral
of the US sub fleet in the Pacfic in WWII. It reads often like an ancient Greek tragedy. The hero of the book is Sam Dealey.
Commander Dealey is famous as being the destroyer killer unfortunatly that reputation was his downfall. Dealey's story borders
on the fantastic as he runs secret missions landing spies behind Japanese lines. Later he rescues a downed American pilot.
As in any Greek tragedy the hero has a flaw. Commander Dealey's is his fantatical attacks on Japanese destroyers. In the
conclusion of the book Admiral Lockwood reveals the Dealey was sunk by a destroyer that the Japanese captured from the US
Navy.

At last, a book about the MDMA experience that doesn't simply parrot the same old war-on-drugs propaganda, but sheds light
on the subjective experience of real people who took the psychoactive agent and found the experience to be transformative
in important ways. This is a welcome addition to the literature on psychedelic experience that is a refreshing antidote to
the nonsense slung about by non-objective researchers who take taxpayers cash to scare us with falsified data.

On this book (which I have been holding - believe it or not - for 30 years) Topsy and Tim are going on Holiday with their
parents. This book is really the tale of their "on the way" adventures in the English countryside, that appeal to every toddler
(or is it "tiddlers" as Topsy and Tim's British dad calls his children on the first page?). Trip starts with a misfortune,
known oh so well to every parent - when Topsy and Tim realize they have forgotten their buckets behind. The crying and sobbing
(accompanied by the very beautiful pictures in the old edition) are enough to deliver the situation and get the identification
of every reader (be it mother or child, both understand the situation, each from his own side).
Mother is as clever as always and manages to suggest food in order to save the day and the family stops for a picnic. Some more adventures follow, car goes into a ditch and is saved by a man ("a friendly giant") with his tractor - and in the end, as you guessed correctly, seaside buckets are safely found.

Topsy and Tim's Monday book is the first of Jean and Gareth Adamson British "Topsy and Tim's" series and my first introduction
to these lovely twins. Topsy and Tim always remain around 5-6 years of age (they never grow up), are always dressed the same
and live with their mother and father in a very English environment, including the proper tea time (with drawings that make
you wish for such tea yourself). The content of the series has changed over time and the new books deal with issues made to
fit our modern era. Topsy and Tim newer books deal with a visit to the dentist, an airplane trip, environment issues, safety,
etc. However the first books deal mainly with everyday life and little issues that are of more interest (so I believe) to
the very young readers. These first books (edited around 1970) also enjoy beautiful drawings which were changed over the years.
My edition of "Topsy and Tim's Monday Book" goes back to 1970 and I believe I myself have been holding this book for over 30 years. Now I tell this story to my 3 year old boy which seems to like this book as much as I did.
It is really the lovely drawings that are so wonderful to tell the story by and the simple funny scenes. The milkman (a concept which is very foreign and hard to explain to my child) is a regular visitor and so are other characters, such as Tony Welch, a friend of the twins that always seems to get into trouble. The Monday book tells the story of a rainy Monday when Topsy and Tim are supposed to go to school wearing their Wellington boots. Tim has a tantrum (accompanied by a picture most enjoyable to the mother and son reading the book - of Tim stomping his feet in the living room) and refuses to wear his boots: " he was very naughty and stamped and shouted "I don't want my Wellingtons"... and dad saying "It's time that boy learned a lesson" (which off course he does!). The ending is always good and "Topsy and Tim plodged through all the big puddles on the way home. "Good old Wellington boots!" said Tim.
Lovely.

A very timely addition to any school or community library Earth Science collection for young readers grades 2 to 5, Thomas
Adamson's Tsunamis is an informative and "kid friendly" introduction to the kind of tidal waves that inundated the coastal
areas of the countries of the Indian Ocean. Tsunamis teaches young readers how tsunamis form, how they move and reach the
store, the damage they can create, warning systems used to alert people, and the aftermath of the terrible devastation caused
by the December 26, 2004 tsunami. The simple, clear language and the full-color diagrams and photographs offer clear and readily
grasped facts and science. Note that Tsunamis is available to school and public libraries at the library rate ($15.95), and
all proceeds from 2005 sales are being donated to the United Nations Children's Fund to help children affected by the 2004
tsunami.

The collaborative work of Martin Carnoy (Vida Jacks Professor of Education, Stanford University), Frank Adamson (Stanford
University's School of Education), Amita Chudgar Assistant Professor, Michigan State University's College of Education), Thomas
Luschei (Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Florida State University) and John Witte Professor,
Department of Political Science and the Robert M. La Follette School of Public Affairs, University of Wisconsin-Madison),
"Vouchers And Public School Performance: A Case Study Of The Milwaukee Parental Choice Program" is a 75-page study of the
voucher plan employed by the urban school district of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and offers data supporting an outcome of improved
student performance in their public elementary schools. The study of the voucher plan targeted at low-income students since
1990 and known as the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program, provides a model of what can be applied to other urban school districts
elsewhere in the country. "Vouchers And Public School Performance" is a highly recommended and seminal contribution to the
growing body of information and data relevant to the use of vouchers in public schools to affect and promote student academic
success.

A great magic history and charm! I am impassioned by Walter Lantz and everyone charmed that he created with its brilliant
idea. That book is special. Very interesting and that the love that he had for its work overflows, for its wife and for
its friends, and for the people and children of everyone. Walter Lantz is an example for me. It is my reference for my work.
It is a book that needs to be at any library of the Wonderful world!

We are very proud of this book! Uncle Joe and I worked long hours on the project. We both were presented with the 2008 eBay Hall of Fame Awards as well.
We felt this book would help all eBay members understand all those terms and jargon seen around eBay.
This is a handy computer side companion available to be used while browsing the eBay site.
I appreciate your support and hope to see you in the eBay community!

I found this in my high school library today and loved it so much I just bought a used copy of it. This is an index of most
of the historical fiction books published for adults and mature young adults up to 1998. Admittedly, a lot more have been
published since then. This is arranged by era and area and has a little blob about each book, the place it takes place in
and the year it takes place in. I look forward to using it to find new books.

This book is truly interesting in that it explains a process that many consumers thought that they were already familiar with.
This book will explain why:
1) it always seems the person at the register is being "trained".
2) children flock to most fast food joints.
3) the fast food industry exploded with growth in the last 30 years.
4) This country needs an alternative to our current and growing feeding trends!

Outstanding You: Discover, Design and Achieve Ultimate Fitness
This book should be required reading at all American schools. The purpose behind this book is not to convert people to vegetarian/vegan diets, but instead to educate them about the disastrous state our food supply is in. Though I use this book for information to support my vegan/vegetarian diet, I found it incredibly detailed and thought provoking. Highly recommended for anyone seeking more information on where their food comes from.

The author offers reader a book behind the fast food industry which mushrooms around the county with their joints which the
majority of working class rely on for their quick meals.
His research on the growers, suppliers, processors, laborers, politics and health issue behind the smiling teenager order takers leads reader to the composition of the hamburger in blood, tears and sweat from thousands of cattle, handled by the chain of workers before going to your mouth. It also makes you wonder who is eating the steaks and leaving the "residue of fats, noses, ears, trims" grounded into a mixture enhanced with artificial favor - a virtue"100% beef".
Does fast food industry cost you an arm and a leg? By eating the cheap fast food, we may pay a dear price for healthcare later!
This book illustrates the Tao of food: good and bad, healthy and junk, natural and artificial, slow and fast, traditional and modern, real and illusion.
Who program the population in acting "the allegiance to the flag of fast food industry, one fast food nation under God with franchises around 50 states in offering cheap hamburgers and freedom fries for all"?

I'm a vegetarian who doesn't eat at fast-food restaurants. I thought this book was going to be an interesting expose of the
fast-food industry. Instead, it was a series of meandering stories that weren't all that compelling. I got about halfway through
the book and realized there was really no point in finishing it.
I noticed that whenever someone was portayed negatively, the word "Republican" invariably cropped up. When one meatpacking company owner became less sympathetic to workers, Schlosser goes out of his way to let the reader know that he went from being a liberal Democrat to a conservative Republican.
It's this kind of political posturing (Schlosser is obviously a liberal Democrat who can't keep his disdain for Republicans out of his writing), along with the fact that Schlosser just isn't that good of a writer, that helps to sink this book.
I kept wondering when I was going to learn something interesting that wasn't obvious. All I learned was what I already knew. Fast-food is a giant industry that pays teenagers low wages and uses a lot of potatoes from giant agribusiness companies and beef from giant cattle companies. Oh yeah, and they use flavorings from companies in New Jersey.
Stop the presses.
