DogReview Date: 2005-10-31
After the little girl bought the dog she lost interest in the dog because of her schoolwork. When it was the little girls birthday she named the dog Dog which is the name of the book. She named it Dog because it's simple and unique. She lost interest in Dog again after a couple of days. Dog decided to run away. Dog ran in to a dog that looked like a hyena, and which is named Hyena. Hyena introduced Dog to a man who looked like a wild boar, and which is named Wild Boar. Both of them took care of Dog until he decided to go back with the mistress and the little girl.
Dog and the little girl and her parents went on a vacation to the west, and the parents planned to have the Dog kidnapped by some truckers. When Dog was kidnapped he was thrown into the countryside by the trucker that kidnapped him because Dog peed on the truckers shirt. Dog found his way back into the city after eleven days of straight walking. After Dog was rested up he made up in his mind that he was going to get revenge with the family, so Dog met with his old friends Hyena and Wild Boar and all the cats and dogs in the city. Dog told his plan to all the dogs and cats in the city, and all the cats and all the dogs thought it was a good idea to break into the parents and little girls house and.................
I enjoyed this book and loved reading the book Dog because it was filled with a lot of excitment. I would recommend this book to anyone who can understand and read.

A wonderful read!Review Date: 2000-12-04
The Dolomite Solution is set in northern Italy; Innsbruck Austria; and Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island. Two scientists have combined research to find a cure for heart disease. They are set to turn their findings over to an Austrian biotechnology company and are a shoe-in for the Nobel prize when one of them is killed on a mountain road. Jake Adams, former Network agent, has just moved to Innsbruck for a break from his exploits when he receives a strange phone call which propels him into the most convoluted web of murder; betrayal, and industrial espionage he has yet encountered:
"Quinn laughed to himself, gazing through the night vision goggles at the dumpster that Adams had just scurried behind like a frightened rat. His shots had gone way over the man's head, but then Jake had no way of knowing that. It was perfect. When he first heard that the man who had ruined his life would be in the same city as him, he couldn't believe his good fortune. When he had actually seen the man, he knew his luck was changing for the better. He had thought long and hard in prison, projecting a scenario for this very meeting. The city didn't matter. Circumstances like this couldn't be ignored. He had Adams just where he wanted him."
Trevor Scott delivers with The Dolomite Solution. Jake Adams is up against a bitter enemy, and with his usual aplomb Scott ratchets up the action. He is an expert at thoroughly deceiving the reader, drawing us into a seemingly insolvable plot just as he fascinates us with action that is non-stop. Jake is his usual disarming self, understated in a thoroughly fascinating way until his enemies inflate with their own devious cunning. We can't wait for him to succeed, and we can't help but be relieved when he finds his true lady love in the end...a wonderful read.

Hard to put downReview Date: 2006-02-27
The heroine of the series is Chelsea Adams; wife, mother, and visionary--literally. Chelsea is a woman who sees visions from God. In Dread Champion, Chelsea is chosen to be on the jury of a well-publicized murder trial. Darren Welk, the "Salad King" of Salinas County, has been charged with the murder of his wife. Chelsea is sure she will be excused from the jury pool. After all, what lawyers in their right minds would pick her to be a part of a jury? Her visions of a young girl's murder in Trent Park had put her in the headlines just a year before. So she is stunned when she is accepted to be the second alternate juror. But, as the title Dread Champion (taken from Jeremiah 20:11) implies, God will accomplish His own purposes and choose to use whomever He will.
As fellow jurors give her the cold shoulder because of their knowledge of her visions; her visiting niece Kerra becomes involved with the son of the defendant; and God gives her a new, terrifying vision; Chelsea fights to pray and trust that God has placed her where He has for a reason.
God's work in each character's life in this story is as unique as the fingerprints He gives us. That, along with a tightly woven storyline, made this a book that was very hard to put down.

A Strong Follow-Up to the Author's "Paideia" SeriesReview Date: 2007-01-18
Jaeger argues that Greek mystery cults began to influence Christianity most during the second century and after, changing the emphasis of organized Christianity itself towards a revelatory ethos. Before this, he argues, most Christian thinkers (if not believers) were centered on the philosophy of Christ, as this was the language of the Hellenized audience. Certainly in Alexandria this is true, but we might find this less so in Antioch.
The central role of the Platonic concept of life after death, embraced by the Christian fathers and finding full fruition in the fourth century, is well-explored. A concept whose origin is often attributed to the more Dionysian influences does, in fact, find its true source in philosophy rather than faith. This tends to put current arguments of faith vs. reason in a more laughable light.
In any case, the work is short and direct, written in an approachable manner by an excellent scholar. Those of you who enjoy this work might also consider picking up Jaeger's 3 volume work on Greek Philosophy (revolving around "paideia," or the individual's "education" in excellence.)
