The author has done a thorough job of detailing the college experience from a student's perspective. The book starts with planning the move to college, finances, roommate selection, and whether to take a car to school. It really gets into detail when almost an entire page is spent on the practicality and pitfalls of ironing, which brings me to my point.

While the book is chocked full of advice a college student will probably need, it is text-heavy and visually less than appealing to its intended audience: 18 to 21-year-olds. I think parents will look at this book and think about how practical it is and how they will feel better about letting go just knowing all this helpful information is at their kids' fingertips. And that would be great, if kids would take the time to read it and refer back to the appropriate sections when they need help. Maybe it would be best for parents to read it, then discuss it with the kids a little at a time before they even leave for college.

For those grown kids who are committed to learning as much as they can about this huge step towards independence, and the parents who guide them, this book is an excellent source of information. 50 Ways to Leave Your Mother

So concise and thoughtful..

I'm so impressed with the amount of information in this book... everything from how to manage money, time & nutrition, as well as, social topics such as roomates, dating safety & much much more. Mr Malone obviously is well versed in academia and student life. He's covers a vast range of topics as only someone with his experience and breadth of knowledge could. It's a very easy and enjoyable read & I would highly recommend this to all students leaving for college.

This book is a gift from the Guidance Dept. to each senior upon receipt of the first college acceptance. I put a personal message on the title page for each senior. The seniors really enjoy the book. It's always a nice surprise for them, and something that really can be useful as they prepare for college.

I highly recommend this book, which gives you the A-Z of raising your dog with mannerism. The book is written for novices in mind and had been a major life-saver when I was at a complete loss as to what to do when I first got my Boston Terrier, Booda. The book delves into the highly effective method of positive training for dogs at length, resulting in my teaching my pup many commands in just days. This book is a must-read for owners who are experiencing problems in obedience training and/or understanding their dogs. Prospective owners who are contemplating what breed to buy and the pros and cons of adopting a dog to complete their lives and homes will also find them useful. I am also a dog foster parent and i use this book with all the fosters that come in my care so that they can be ready for adoption within a short amount of time.5 Stars for Jennifer Bridwell's comprehensive contents, readability and effectiveness!

Our shelter dog, Devo has attended two of her 6-week sessions at the Canine Connection in Milford. In addition, Jennifer and her staff volunteered their time to come and train dogs / volunteers at the Stratford Animal shelter (and donate a few of these books). Jen's techniques are top notch and she is a wonderful person to support. Dog training is a must for anyone who wants to have a high quality relationship with their pooch.

My 11-year-old daughter and our dog have been taking classes with Jen Bridwell evern since our dog joined our family 2 years ago, and I am delighted that Jen has an opportunity to reach a wider audience. She is an amazing dog trainer, and her tips really work. We have a Cairn Terrier who does not jump on people who come to the house, never barks when he is inside the house (even if people come to the door or he sees squirrels out the window), and is the most well-mannered dog we could have hoped for. The book highlights everything that Jen covers in class. I highly recommend it!

The further I go with learning french, the more I realise the importance of mastering french verbs. This book starts with the best summary of verbs and tenses that I know of, and then provides a full conjugation of the 250 most useful french verbs. What's really handy is the way the book identifies the major families of verbs and their patterns. Highly recommended.

As a beginning French language student, I did not look forward to learning verb conjugations. Mrs. Lawless' no non-sense approach to verb conjugation is concise and to the point. I still don't like the task of learning verb conjugation, but now the task is much less daunting. It's pocket-book size makes it easy to carry with me and so makes it a handy reference.

If you are serious about learning French, this book will be a invaluable tool.

It's all right here.

The Everything French Verb Book is exactly what I've been wanting: an easy to use, yet detailed list of conjugated verbs. The book starts with a good summary of verb tenses and the conjugation rules, as well specific and easy to understand lists of the exceptions. (I would have liked a couple more paragraphs of grammar details, but hey, a reference book has to stop somewhere.) Then there are the verb charts with 250 verbs, both regular and irregular verbs, fully conjugated. Regardless of the rules, I'm frequently unsure of the exact spelling of the 2nd person plural conditional or the 1st person plural subjunctive and I really appreciate having it all printed out. The last section has 1000 verbs listed with the appropriate conjugation model verb. Just about every verb I could ever want.

No more flipping through several different grammar books and multiple dictionary verb tables, no more guessing and hoping I have a verb spelled right -- it's all right here. For beginning French learners, intermediate speakers, and well beyond, this book is a must.

This book is a great overview of the paralegal field. It briefly covers every aspect of being a paralegal. This would be a great book to read if you are considering becoming a paralegal but aren't sure if it's the right career for you. I have completed a degree in paralegal studies and found this book to be a great review of all the areas I have studied. I'm sure it will be a handy reminder for those areas of paralegal practice that I don't use on a regular basis. I recommend it to everyone from beginning paralegals to those with years of experience. The author has done a great job of writing in a manner that keeps everything simple enough for anyone to understand but detailed enough to be of use to anyone involved in the paralegal field.

As someone who earned a paralegal certification at WOLI (Washington Online Learning Institute), a 100% online school, I was very pleased to have this book recommended by my career counselor at WOLI. I found this book to be full of useful information about the paralegal profession, the importance of credentials and most importantly what potential employers such as law firms and corporations expect from persons such as myself. I understand that many WOLI students are using this book and I am pleased to recommend it.

In addition to the explanation of causes of depression, the book provides extremely practical advice about how to help yourself or family members or friends who may be depressed. I love this book's approachable style of writing about health. As a reader, I have the feeling that the author is talking to me, as a friend who understands me. Her approach normalizes my own experience, and as a result is very reassuring. As a woman in menopause, normalizing and reassurance are just what I need! And, being from a generation whose mothers and aunts did not speak of menopause, it helps to have a friend like Kate Bracy.

This book was a gift to me in more ways than one! It is such a relief to know that all my symptoms, discomforts and worries are normal. I am not alone with my sleepless nights and frustration with other people. I have not turned into a complete witch and things will get better. The book answers every question a woman could have about perimenopause and menopause. Nor only does the author educate you but she does it with knowledge, skill and humor. I look forward to more from this author.

I was given this book by a friend who's been listening to me gripe about... what was I griping about, I forgot... oh yeah, forgetfulness in my 40's. I was a wee bit put off by the realization that I am "that age", but did finally pick it up and thumb through it. An hour later I was still engrossed; I really am "that age" and pretty darned normal! Whew! I had thought this was the beginning of the end, physically and mentally. But I see that's just not true, I'm FINE! I WILL be able to sleep again, and the random pins & needles in my arms aren't so random when you take an informed look. This is a very accessable book, I felt like the information was available for regular folk who don't want to have to study this topic. The writing style feels like you're having a visit over coffee with a smart but grounded doctor friend. I highly recommend this book.

We received several of the Everything Kids books in the mail a few days ago and my 6 year old daughter has been having a great time with them. This hidden pictures book is a challenge but she really enjoys spending time on locating the different items. And if you have a 6 year old you know that after a few minutes, losing interest is the norm. So an activity that keeps her attention is always GREAT!

The puzzles are challenging for ages 5 and up, some more difficult than others, and my kids enjoy the way the items are really well hidden in each scene. I love that it is lengthy and features various themes like Vacation, Meal Time, Playground, and so on. This edition will keep us busy throughout the entire summer vacation.

My 7 year old son has been a shark fanatic for as long as he's known about them. He has put together quite an extensive collection of books and other shark treasures, this book has become one of his favorites. Since the day he received it, it has been sitting on his nightstand, within close reach. I see him reading and looking through this book more than any of the others that he has on sharks. He loves to come up with another 'hey did you know' fact to share, that he has learned from this book. Unlike some others that remain in near pristine condition; this one is dog eared, bent and shows all signs of being a loved book.

Inside you will find many fast facts, puzzles, mazes, riddles and the like mixed with a treasury of information about the beloved shark as a species. This has been a great book for both long and short reads, as you don't have to sit and do the cover to cover traditional read that sometimes becomes daunting to the younger bunch. Each chapter/section is somewhat short yet chock full of great child friendly illustrations, shark and habitat facts and short games/puzzles.

If you have a shark fan or a child interested in learning a bit about different undersea critters, this may be a good choice for you. I know there are tons of shark books out there to choose from but if you talk to my 7yr old son, he would tell you that this is one of the best!!

I tend not to review a lot of children's book, however, this particular one warranted a complete review. As a former biology major and research scientist, I can say that this book presents a lot of good, accurate and interesting facts about sharks and isn't just fluff. It also has a glossary of terms and presents the content in imaginative and engaging ways.

For a time, I was a director of education and I understand that there are different types of learners, this book appeals to them all using text, puzzles, mazes, crosswords and other ways to present and reinforce concepts. However, it is in no way sterile or devoid of fun. In other words, it's not like a highly structured book that would be put together by an adult who doesn't have a lot of experience with kids.

This book will be FUN and EDUCATIONAL. The folks who put this together hand kids in mind and they did a wonderful job of targeting to the 9-12 age group. You can buy this for about $6.00 new and as low as $0.29 cents used. At either price, this is a bargain and will return hours of fun and education. I also like how it supports raising consciousness around these animals that for the most part endangered and about the environment in general.

We have both books from this author and both are outstanding. The activities in this book are entertaining for both our kids. Almost every activity involves a creative experiment with materials found around the house. There are follow up questions for many of the experiments that make them science fair appropriate.

In general, though, the experiments in this book are good fun. It interesting to see what can be done with science!

This author has hit another home run!
