I have a 9.5yo son with Asperger's. It has been a roller coaster journey since he was born. I've read several compilation books about living with a child with autism, but this is BY FAR the most honest, gritty, inspiring, and joy provoking book of its kind. The stories are REAL, and there are SO MANY that the many facets of autism are shown. I nodded my head along with most of them. If you have a child on the autism spectrum, buy this book. It will soothe your soul.

This was my first CUP OF COMFORT experience. I bought it because my friend Dera Williams has a story in it, and I wanted to read her story about quilting as a legacy. Well, I thoroughly enjoyed Dera's story, and then I started reading the book from the beginning and was quickly pulled in by the beautifully told stories by women who, although just like me, each had her own story to tell. Stories that uplifted me, and made me think of life's possibilities. I highly recommend this book to any woman who needs a little inspiration to kick-start her day, or week, or year!

I cant speak more highly of this book, i am looking for a second copy, because it was the first of the favourite books, got taken everywhere and constantly chewed on. It is a strong tough board book, with great pictures and an easy story. Because this book went down so well, I chased up others in the series.

they love it

My 16-month-old twins love this book. They find something new in the pictures every week, as they become more and more aware of their world and all there is to see. They also love the windo picture effect. Great book.

This book pre-dates web conferencing (sharing data over a browser with a teleconference) but their principles and insights are first rate, terse and straight to the point. The lesson of planning different strategies for different types of meetings is very helpful and practical. They give tips and strategies for specific types of virtual encounters from brainstorming sessions, to working team meetings, remote presentations and formal board meetings. They also offer a key insight that the use of video conferencing is not a technical solution that reduces travel cost but strategic managment issue that goes to core of communications within an organization.

As web conferencing and Video over IP become realities, this book establishes the principles for holding any type of virtual meeting. )

This book is a must read for anyone looking to use cybermeetings to improve access to justice and to resolve eCommerce disputes amicably. Anyone in the burgeoning field of web conferencing should learn the constructive lessons of video conferencing from this book.

Helps you look at your meetings and real time collaboration processes, and see how/if technology can support them. For once it doesn't look at it from a technology standpoint. The authors lets you consider what you want with your meetings. Then they take a look at how tech can support this.

I have a 1st grader who reads at the 4th grade level. While his reading skills are great, he is still only 6 and his topics of interest are ...well, the interests of a 6-year-old boy. My son LOVES this series. He curls up with them and reads them on his own, and yet still loves to have them read aloud. Best of all, his dad and I don't mind reading them aloud --- we love them too.

From the man's perspective, I think the authors' provide real and useful advice to tackle some of these exact issues. I would (and have) recommend the book to my guy friends for perspective and certainly would recommend it to younger women dating older men.

A nice story for any age

Third-grader Eddie Lewis and the other students at Riverside Elementary School are eagerly preparing for October 10th, when "a real author" will be visiting the school. Eddie likes to both read and write. His teacher encourages him by saying, "We are all authors with important stories inside us." Each child has prepared a question for the author. Eddie's question is: "How do you write books that have parts meant for me?" But during the author's presentation, Eddie doesn't get a chance to ask his question. The author sees him afterward and makes a special effort to talk with him and give him a chance to pose his question in person. Eddie is awed by the experience, and he intends to write about it.

While the identity of "The Author" is kept anonymous throughout the text -- a technique that lends even *more* mystique to the specialness of her appearance -- this book is obviously an autobiographical story for Borden and is based on her own school visits. The narration is told in such a way that the reader's anticipation builds just like it would if we were looking forward to meeting a celebrity ourselves. We've all been there. Even adults become nervous and tongue-tied when faced with speaking to someone they admire and respect. Thus does this book transcend audience level. We can *all* relate to Eddie's situation.

Adam Gustavson's realistic paintings add greatly to the story. They convey freeze-frames of realistic emotion from every character, especially of Eddie and The Author.

This title is certainly useful for preparing elementary students for author visits. Secondarily, it's highly recommended for aspiring writers of *any* age who seek advice from "a real author."

Death Hawk is an interstellar adventure that delves into the discovery of an ancient alien artifact call the Soulworm.

Along the way, the main character Death Hawk encounters treacherous hotties, back stabbing partners that were forced upon him, primitive and easily manipulated natives and not to mention an interstellar corporation that owns most of the known Galaxy.

Death Hawk is very similar to characters we all know. There are aspects of Kane, which shouldn't come as a surprise, but I found that he was also quite similar in mentality and personality with Jack Burton (Big trouble in little china).

We have a hero (sort of) that does his best, but quite often finds the tables turned on him and things don't go anywhere near as he had hoped or expected.

Hawk has a side kick / partner, a Symbiote named Cyke who is part wiseass, part encyclopaedia, mixed in with a few nifty abilities that help Hawk out of some rather dangerous predicaments.

Of course, after reading this book, you can see where Mark got some of his inspiration for things we've seen in Outlanders. First, Brigid. She's not named Baptiste in DH, but the physical similarities are there, although she's almost the polar opposite of our Baptiste. Second, we have the Tigers of Heaven, third this is where he originally introduced the ASP weapons.

Do I have to say it then? I better, because some people occasionally don't clue in. If you like Outlanders, you should enjoy Death Hawk.

Also, I would strongly recommend that you read the introduction by Douglas Clegg as well as the interview with Mark at the end. It will fill in some blanks for you, things that as I was reading the comic had me scratching my head in confusion, mainly background and the like.

I also noticed something else. Maybe it's just coincidence, maybe it isn't. I've currently read a series of novels by another author, and there is a character in that series named bob that has a very strong resemblance to Cyke. And said author is, from what I gather, a comic book fan, so it's very possible that Bob was modeled after him.

Or maybe just a coincidence. I don't know, but believe it or not, that's not a bad thing.

The art is pretty good. It wasn't rushed, nor was it slip shod like I've seen in a lot of current artists, nor and some might argue with me over this, were the women super endowed and hot beyond human measures like we see in so many comics. They were more realistic, which in some ways is hotter! Like Freya... a synthetic Amazon with a real attitude, and legs that just won't quit, and a rack bigger than Death Hawk's head. Then again, considering that she's 7 feet tall...

Sorry, got distracted there...

If you're a fan of the fantastic artist Adam Hughes, you'll be pleased to know that he did about half the art in the book. Darryl Banks, Rik Levins also contributed to the book, and did a wonderful job.

You can also thank Darryl Banks designing the cover, and Melissa Martin-Ellis for providing the color, as well as the layout.

So, bottom line is this. If you like Serenity, Firefly, Outlanders, stellar adventure with a mystery to boot, then you should give Death Hawk: The Soulworm Saga a read. It'll be worth not only your time, but your money.
