Sabrina D. Black, Christina Dixon, Pamela J. Hudson and Brenda A. Jenkins - "who are these women?" you ask. They are the leaders of the 21st. Century, multi-tasking women of this new era.
Sabrina Black is the Clinical Director of Abundant Life Counseling Center. Ms. Black has an MA, LLPC and a host of other credentials that fortify her work in the field of mental health. Ms.Black is not only an author but a national and international speaker as well. She has been an overseas Missionary and has brought the gospel of Jesus Christ to many in the West Indies, Romania and Africa. In this book, she shows the reader how to deal with life's struggles and the real issues of Christian living.
Christina Dixon is a wife and mother of five adult children and a grandmother of one. If that isn't enough, she is also the President of Priority One Publications. Ms.Dixon has organized food and reading programs, Bible teaching workshops and is a sought after speaker in her own right. Ms. Dixon currently serves as Women's Ministry Coordinator for New Hope Progressive Church.
Pamela J. Hudson is President and CEO of Advanced Consulting & Marketing Services.
Ms. Hudson is also a teacher and speaker who teaches Biblical Counseling classes. She is Secretary of the Board of Global Projects for Hope and Help and Healing. In addition to her many talents she is also a gifted writer that has been published in many publications.
Brenda A. Jenkins a Certified Biblical Counselor, author and speaker. Ms. Jenkins served as Director of Biblical Counseling for many years at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She is currently the Counseling Advisor and Adjunct Outreach Facilitator for this ministry.
"Help! Your Leadership" is a 170 page book of answers. Answers to questions asked of Christian leaders and questions they ask themselves. This book deals with the struggles that Christian leaders face on a daily basis. It is an insight to what a Christian leader must do for his/her flock. Much of the book deals with actual life experiences and how they were handled. From,"who is a leader" to the power a leader has within his grasp, this compelling volume covers all the aspects of leadership.
Some of the many valuable lessons learned are how a leader should be mentally whole himself, before attempting to help others. How he should manage his Christian life before he sets out to be a beneficial leader. He must also combat depression when he is powerless to help in a situation. Jealousy of others within the ministry, the Lone Ranger mentality, and many more are just a few of the chapters from this well written book.
" Help! Your Leadership" is a very informative, well written book that I highly recommend to anyone in the position of power. Not just for Christian leaders, but all leaders could benefit from the lessons learned in this book. I give it my highest A+ rating.

What David Perkins has done is explain the basic chronology of poets periods. This is neither an encyclopedia of terms nor an anthology of great poems. Instead, Perkins takes a period, affiliates the poets major within that period and explains their context and importance.
He keeps it simple without talking down to the reader.
Essentially, it is a collection of intelligent essays. Some are topical, like "The Postwar Period" while others are poet-specific, like "W. H. Auden."
Perkins writes clearly. It isn't trying to impress you, but he is trying to help you understand Eliot and onward.
I read it for personal growth, but it would make a solid textbook, in tandem with Perkins' other volume covering the previous eras.
I fully recommend "History of Modern Poetry: Modernism and After" by David Perkins.

This is my firsy audio book and it's great as I can do other things and still listen and enjoy this book.
Perfect for Old and New Fans of This Classic!Review Date: 2006-05-31
Within minutes, I could tell that I'd made a winning choice as I listened to Stephen Fry brilliantly share his voice to add texture to this intriguing story. Between the accents and the humorous references to irony, I was enthralled. I found myself wishing that the recording was a longer one.
When you read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, it can come across a little simplistically in places. Those spots work much smoother in this audio version.
In fact, if you haven't read the book, I recommend that you listen to this recording instead. I think you'll enjoy and appreciate the book more in its more dramatic version here.
If you don't know the story, Arthur Dent finds himself awakening with a hangover determined to save his home. Only problem is, while the demolition crew looms, he's also about to lose his other home, the Earth. Aided by his alien friend, Ford Prefect, Arthur is soon off hitchhiking his way through the galaxy in a most improbable set of circumstances that will amuse and delight you. You'll meet Zaphod Beeblebrox, one of the most memorable aliens in anyone's fiction. Along the way, you'll learn more speculation about wearing digital watches and finding lost ballpoint pens than you ever expected to know.
Bravo, Stephen Fry and Douglas Adams!

The first in a series yet complete in its selfReview Date: 2005-08-02
Listening to the audio CD's has an extra dimension to the book. You do get time to catch your breath. And my CD player is in the car. Somehow I survived. I would say that one great advantage to CD's is the ability to hear how the names are pronounced and you get inflections that intended or not help understand where they are going before they get there. Another advantage is that CD's like acid free paper should outlast the reader.
How many times have you asked a simple question and go the answer as "42." Yep, you are a victim to this book. Many of the clichés and truisms that rival Shakespeare are creeping into our vocabulary. And attitudes - "It has been on file."
If you are the one person that somehow got through life with out reading this series or at least seeing this on TV, then you are in for a treat. Somehow this story is earmarked as sci-fi and I guess it can be in a sense and it has all the elements necessary; it delivers a powerful message to the local Zoning Board.
I will not go though the story, as that is why you are reading the book. You need to sit down for the next sentence.
This book has changed my life.

Excellent Library Addition for Hitchhiker Trilogy FansReview Date: 2000-06-18
Titles combined include The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; The Restaurant at the End of the Universe; Life, the Universe, and Everything; So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish; and Mostly Harmless.
You'll travel with Arthur Dent from the destruction of the Earth throughout the Universe in a series of adventures and misadventures. He meets some of the most uproarious characters in the Universe, and realize he's met some of them before. All of this to answer the ultimate question of "Life, the Universe and Everything".
The book moves comparably in speed speed and action to the Hobbit, and Trilogy of the Rings. And wouldn't we all like to go "There and Back Again."

Beautiful Book..... BUY IT!!!Review Date: 2006-02-28
The main quilt is probably not for absolute beginners, but great for someone who loves needleturn applique. The blocks and nice and big - you can get lots of detail done on each block. A beginner might enjoy making it if they used a different applique method such as fusible web. But then again, why not just jump in and get both feet wet and learn to needleturn at the same time!
There are other projects in the book which look great, though I probably won't make them as I bought it mainly for the house quilt.
Barb Adams and Alma Allen do such wonderful work with their quilts and books. This book certainly lives up to their good reputation.

Aimed at selling your software in the mass market, gives lessons and ideas for selling through publishers and superstores, but not much about selling direct, especially on the web, maybe next printing revision.

He tells you what failed and what worked for him. I started working on a software project that I feel sure will sell to the commercial market, thanks to his advice in the book.
My favorite part: which kinds of software titles sell and which don't.
Don't launch your software without this book. Well worth the price of the book. Mine is full of post-its to mark all the great stuff!

I'm expecting my first child, and this book covers most of the topics that I have questions about. It's not super detailed, but I see that as a positive. Some books on baby-rearing can be overwhelming with things to remember. This book seems to give a good basic overview. I'm sure I'll be referring to it again once the baby is here.

The first warning to every fan looking for a definitive documentary of the Red Sox 2004 season is to not be put off by the cover of Idiot-syncrasies. The cartoonish caricatures would make one believe the book is another in the long line of box score recaps that populate the market. Jerry Remy's forward certainly does nothing to alert readers to what will follow. Rather, it appears to simply be a vehicle for Remy to remind us of his playing days.
Then--then, if you will simply take a moment to read Longest's introduction, The Eternal Sunshine of Terry Francona, you will know that Idiot-syncrasies holds the promise of something as special as the 2004 season itself. I must admit that Longest knew how to hook me when he begins his season-long narrative with the grandest "idiot" of all--Johnny Damon. After a delightful analysis of how JD fit into the overall dynamics of the team I was captured. If Longest was to dissect the entire team as he did Damon I couldn't wait to read on. There they were: Manny and Ortiz. Varitek, Millar and Pokey--Mueller--well, count on it--they're all there. While many championship season books include only the post season, Longest puts us on a season-long path with the Red Sox--potholes and all.
Longest takes us far beyond the mundane stats of a season. He engages us in a deep analysis of what makes these men tick and how they converged to make a team tick. There are some who might argue his analysis, but this is precisely the point--you can't argue finite, historical statistics, but you can debate the elements, and eccentricities, of personality. It's the same as debating how one man won the presidency--a conversation of personality, character, soul and many intangibles we can never really quantify. This is what we'll discuss over the years rather than the stats--well, except "the walk"--a stat we'll not soon forget. Longest doesn't completely ignore statistics, but couches them in game situations that assist in explicating his analysis of character and skill.
Longest's compelling analysis of a season is enhanced by his generous inclusion of sidebars he labels "MONSTERminutiae" and his final words at the conclusion of each chapter (Idiot Rule) are thoughts one might choose to live one's life by.
A few hours later when I read the last Idiot Rule--The Future Can Wait--on page 288, I felt I had been in the stands for every precious moment of a precious season. I really didn't care there was very little box score trivia like so-and-so was lifted in the seventh for so-and-so; so what! Rather I now have a vivid portrait of a team of players who performed magic tricks for us. I agree with another reviewer who compares Longest to Roger Angell. While I think this is Longest's first book, it's obvious he's a student of baseball and probably a student of Mr. Angell's prowess at capturing so much more than statistics. In fact Longest may have an even keener sense of vision in his ability to seize nuance.
You might buy one of the "box score" books, but if you want a documentary to consult over time in reliving the 2004 Red Sox season--something to pass along to your children and grandchildren--then Idiot-syncrasies is the one book you should have. I've only owned the book two weeks and I've relived the season cover-to-cover three times.
Sox fans - buy this book! Review Date: 2005-03-04
This book is difficult to describe precisely. It's not a nuts-and-bolts examination of the strategy of the 2004 season. It's not a retropective of the year. It's not a behind-the-scenes look at the team. I suppose it's best described as a look at the philosophy of and the lessons imparted by the "Idiots," and how we as fans related to them, and they to us.
What's best about this book is its style; it utilizes magnificent turns of phrase and builds profiles with the lyricism of Roger Angell (with perhaps a bit of the wryness of George Plimpton as well). At various moments I was nodding in agreement, then laughing out loud, and then breaking into tears. It's a magnificently crafted series of essays on most of the key players of the 2004.
This is a MUST read for any Red Sox fan. Treat yourself, or buy it for a Sox fan you love.
