My son is now 3-1/2, and this has been one of his favorite books for nearly 2 years. He can recite the whole book along with me. I like it too, for the colorful pictures and clever rhymes. Where else are you going to see "gift" rhymed with "sniffed"? A very cute book!

My 3 year old loves this book. It's my favorite too. It's so easy for my son to remember the words because of the rhyme plus the illustration shows him what happens when Elmo says "Achoo!". My son loves saying the "Achoo!" part everytime we read it and we giggle everytime. It's a fun book to read. I highly recommend it.

This is my Baby Daughter's absolute favorite book. I bought it when she was five months old, because she had the Chicken Elmo toy that she really liked. She just loves this book. She's eight months old and it's really the only book that captures her full attention. (The Hungry Caterpillar comes in second.) We've tried buying other Elmo books, but she's just not as interested in them.

I have read and re-read this book so many times that I need a new copy. It is my favorite reference book for Thai massage! The photos and descriptions are great, with excellent correlations to yoga poses throughout. This book depicts the Northern style of Thai Massage and refers to it as an important branch of traditional medicine, as opposed to just another spa treatment. The author lived in Thailand and spent time teaching at the Old Medicine Hospital in Chiang Mai.

This is wonderful book for any level of Thai practicioner. It has very clear and concise pictures and descriptions, as well as shows you how to do a maneuver correctly and incorrectly. Great resource for learning about thai basics to experienced level. Would reccommend to any who were looking for a Thai book. I loved mine so much that I showed it to my therapist who does Thai on me and now am ordering one for him because he liked mine so well he didn't want to give it back. :)

Okay, here is the deal. I have read a gazillion books on Thai massage. Okay, maybe not quite that many, but sometimes it feels like it. For a long time I wished and wished that someone would write a book that went beyond the initial basic sequence that is taught in so many schools. Then I found the Encyclopedia of Thai Massage. It led me to contact the author, train extensively with him, return to Thailand for even deeper training, and open a Thai massage school. Yes, this book was the catalyst for life change. Have I mentioned that it's the best one out there? Nothing nothing nothing replaces hands on training with a qualified teacher for learning Thai massage - books can be no more than reminders and supplemental material to real training. This said, Pierce's book is the best one out there in the english language that has yet been written.

This book takes you from start to finish of a full body Thai massage routine. The descriptions and pictures are very detailed and easy to understand. This book gives all the information from the setting of the room to contraindications for the novice or experienced practicioner. He also gives the tradition and a knowledge of Thai culture. I have recently been to Thailand to study massage, it has changed my bodywork practice for the better ( I'm a massage therapist/ yoga teacher) and it is because of this book and its author.

My name is Donna, and I just want you to know that I bought your book a few years ago and it was very encouraging to me, really did get a lot out of it.
I'd recommend it to anyone else who has E, and their family members who'd want to understand what it's like to live with this condition. It surely does help to know we're not alone in this.

"Life deals us many hard blows that we often don't expect. I admire the fact that someone like Stacey Chillemi was thrown a curve ball that may have knocked many of us down to the point where many of us may not have wanted to get back up, but she did. It wasn't easy but she possesses a determined spirit that won't let her give up. For that reason Stacey will go far and achieve whatever dreams she sets her mind to accomplish."Della Crews

This is an outstanding book on how to improve the writing of biomedical research papers. It is well organized, well presented and extremely helpful.
I bought several writing books at the same time and this one stands out because not only is it a "how-to" book, but it is a workbook and mostly consists of exercises. There is plenty of space in the book to do the exercises right in the book. This is extremely important, because you can read about the rules for improving your writing, but you really don't learn how to use them until you practice rewriting actual sentences.
Significantly, this book has dramatically improved my ability to edit my own papers, which has been one of my nagging writing weaknesses.

we used this book as part of a class i was taking. i am so glad that the professor picked this one out!
the beginning of the book gives you the building blocks, and the later chapters help you put it all together. i realized that a lot of people who help you with proofreading don't really look for some of the organizational items that the author stresses.
i reccommend this book for any graduate student, as well as anyone else who is looking to improve their writing. it might also be a good tool for mentors to use to work with their students.

Very good book for beginners and experienced researchers! I haven't come across any other book that actually describes how you should write a biomedical paper. The only critique is that the examples used are too technical for non-biomedical researchers, this makes it hard to understand the examples. But even if you do not have a biomedical background you will learn a lot from this book.

Before I read Expect a Miracle I was in constant pain from a Worker's Comp injury. Everything required authorization by the insurance. I was referred to a surgeon who immediately wanted to operate to fuse two vertebrae in my neck. This terrified me but I felt trapped and limited in my choice of treatment options. After I read Expect a Miracle by Tel Franklin, M.D. which explains both conventional and alternative treatments and how to develop "appreciative dialogue" with everyone involved in your "healing journey" I became empowered. I coordinated many different treatment options as suggested in his book. Through the workbook format of the book I was able to evaluate each option. This book gave me control of my life again. Dr Franklin helps you to feel good about yourself, your choices in life and makes you aware of all the little miracles we experience in everyday life - the real priorities. I chose to have a successful surgery and am now considering acupuncture as an alternative to steroids for my son's asthma. This book is filled with so many positve success stories I recommend it to everyone. It is so uplifting you can't put it down and the workbook sections are easy, fun and insightful.

I have used Dr. Franklin's book for personal and professional purposes and found that it offers me and my patients a deeper insight and new perspective toward healthcare. The workbook not only educates the readers about alternative and complementary medicine, it guides them toward becoming actively involved and accountable for their health.
Dr. Franklin's book has offerred me the opportunity to enhance dialogue and relationships I have with my patients in addition to revamping my own personal outlook and choices. It is an excellent resource and should be on the shelf of patients and provider alike.

The book shows a practical way to discuss the inner self in the medical process of health and/or healing. It is wonderfully written in that the workbook section gives a step-by-step plan that requires journal writings. These are done in a positive way.
The bottom line is that this is how medicine should be practiced not only by doctors and health care providers but especially by patients. We learn how patients through Appreciative Dialogue have postive choices for optimum health.
After reading this book, I am not surprised to learn that Dr. Tel Franklin is ranked in the top 50 physicians in California.
This is much better than all Dr. Andrew Weil's books.

I have read many books on Fibromyalgia and none of them really provided any useful information. They ranged from too much medical jargon to too many depressing stories about patients who were confined to a wheelchair with no hope of getting any better.
After reading the first few chapters of this book, I knew it was different. I love that each chapter is written by a different author, a doctor or specialist in whatever area is being discussed. This really gives the book a different feel from any others. I have learned so much already (and I'm not even through it) that will make a huge difference in my life. For example, in my continued effort to find help in handling the pain and challenges associated with Fibro, I have gone from one rheumatologist and neurologist to another with little benefit. Now I know that I am approaching it all wrong and which doctors and specialists would be more beneficial to my healing. I also appreciate the personal accounts of real people with the disease that are interspersed throughout this book. They are not the depressing tales of people with no hope to get better who have poor outlooks on life. Instead they are about people who have the real struggles, feel the same pain and trials that all of us who suffer do, but reflect on them in positive ways and on what has helped and hindered their progress. I realize that this disease may never be "cured" per say, but with the help of a book like this, I know that all of those out there suffering can find real hope and help which is, after all, the most important thing to all of us.

I'm only halfway through, but so far, this book is an incredible resource. I've only had fibro for two years, but as a health care professional and patient, this book has helped me to understand my condition better and has helped me to explain it to others better. I work in a position where I teach patients all day, and I have found resources in this book that has allowed me to explain to fibro patients why they feel the way they do. I would reccommend this book to anyone with fibro. But I do feel that some of the language is geared toward the medical community or someone who is familiar with medical jargon.

Anyone with fibro will find this book invaluable. It took me perhaps 2 weeks to read this book. I found out more in 2 weeks than I would have in years of consulting different doctors and exploring different types of pharmaceutical and alternative treatments. I highly recommend it.

This is the best book I have read in a long while. This is exactly whats happening in our world today and people need to know this truth. I was thrilled to see that Ms Gangi could write such an eye opener about holistic health. Connecting the body, mind and spirit in a natural way to heal all three. I found the section about children was even relevant to me today in my later years. It has been such a exciting book packed full of knowledge and insight. This one goes to all my children and grandchildren for Christmas this year!

If you're a firm believer in modern-day medicine and have no interest in taking care of your own body, then this book is not for you. But many people today are beginning to question the ability of their physicians to treat their whole body rather than just a set of symptoms, and they're looking for ways to take their health care into their own hands.
Rayna M. Gangi, a holistic healer with native American roots, begins this volume by providing considerable evidence that today's children are suffering much greater health risks than those of several decades ago, with the increase in vaccinations and behavior modification drugs. Chemicals in common household products and in the water they drink expose them to numerable toxins. And their diets are suffering due to soft drinks, sugary products and artificial sweeteners and colors.
She also explores the over-vaccination of pets and the poor quality of most pet foods. While the author doesn't mention the food poisoning which recently devastated many pet owners, that incident certainly does make one question what our pets are really eating.
As the circle implies, our journey begins with childhood, and this book wouldn't be complete unless it traveled the full arc into aging and death. The author touches on the concept of living life in circle, and living in harmony with the earth and its cycles. In a well-written and well-documented book, she shows us where we can make changes in our lives, so we can experience better health and happiness.
Rayna M. Gangi writes with warmth and compassion. She encourages us to ask questions, and to notice how our bodies feel when we bombard them with chemicals and mistreat them. Ultimately, she sees a world where we all respect our bodies, our environment, and each other.

This book continues where Book One left off and explains in greater detail the whys and hows to self-empowerment. Rayna's writing is concise and poetic and provokes emotional responses that lead you from your mind and body into your heart and soul, and you just feel that what she says is Truth. In a world of medications and operations, depression, sexual dysfunction, degenerative disease and violent children, Forget the Cures, Find the Cause, Book Two - The Circle is an inspiration as well as a workable tool in helping us to reclaim and regain our God given right to health and happiness. A perfect gift for everyone, especially parents and grandparents as we are the keepers of our children and our next generation.

Lorie Conway takes readers into one the of most historic landmarks in US history, Ellis Island. FORGOTTEN ELLIS ISLAND: THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF AMERICA'S IMMIGRANT HOSPITAL peruses history, and revisits an important relic from America's immigrant past, which is also the epitome and constant reminder of the history of the United States and its people. The book examines the building that housed, nursed, and recorded/documented the many immigrants who passed through its halls.
With its impressive narrative and an array of photographs dating back to the early twentieth century during the height of immigration, Conway writes about one of the most defining moments in the American Dream story. But there also entailed the dark moments of immigration that involved the "other" or non-American born peoples, and how they had to endure painstaking and excruciating steps after walking off the ships in which they came from afar, which involved medical examinations and quarantines. Furthermore, immigrants were scrutinized, and many believed that they hindered the social make-up of American society; their reactions came in the form of discrimination and partisanship that was sociological, medical, and political in nature. For example, jingoist political cartoons show the depictions, such as one cartoon of Uncle Sam "rocking the boat" or shaking his fist in defiance towards newly arrived immigrants.
FORGOTTEN ELLIS ISLAND is an important part of American history. This story is an eye-opening narrative filled with retrospection. For those who may have visited the main building of Ellis Island, which is now a museum, this book may enhance their understanding of the immigration history and experience. But most importantly, it also delves into the issue of American identity, and how the United States was shaped and built by immigrants.

This was a great book to read. It never dawned on me that immigrants were medically screened before coming into the US. The pictures were great and the documentary was very informative.
The staff at the hospital were caring and willing to help when no one else was.
I plan to read more on this.

This was an interesting part of the Ellis Island story I had never before heard. The book was fascinating and enjoyable. However I dropped the last star because of a two things - most photos were not labeled and I felt that the stories of those who worked there, with the exception of the doctors, were ignored. I was left with the desire for more information, but I recognize that resources are apparently difficult to get find and access.

I really enjoyed this book because I did not know a whole lot about the Ellis island situation and was fascinated at the detail that this book gave about the construction of the hospitals and how patients got placed in them. I also had no idea that the immigrants had so many skin diseases but after reading about the sanitation conditions I was not surprised. It is truly amazing what our ancestors had to go through to live here.

A superior book to help all ages deal with the feelings associated with caregiving to aging parents. It is a guide to help deal with the non-system of healthcare, healthcare financing, and disjointed services. The key contribution of the book is the interactive format which encourages recording of vital information prior to the time that it is needed in crisis. The 14 friends have made a great contribution of their own experiences and honestly shared emotions to help guide others through tough times. The book is be a must read for all people facing the care of parents. After you read it you will be comforted by the clear understanding that you are not alone and there are sources of help!

The book is basic in its approach to elder caring. Because the book is written by fourteen different people it is repedative in areas. This book completely ignores the wonderful counsel of daily Bible reading and prayer in elder care giving. My Mother suffering with Alzheimer's, loves to have the Bible read to her. "What a friend we have in Jesus".
Inspiring in so many ways.

This book gives advice on both practical aspects of caring forthe eldery and the more emotional aspect of understanding theiractions. I found that I made quite a few realizations about the behavior of my grandparents (any one of which would have made the book worth my time). The section for recording information such as "Grocery stores that deliver" gave me great ideas about ways to improve their access to things they need. There are so many little things that make a huge impact on our elderly loved ones. This book gives great suggestions. I highly recommend it.
