Life Changing

This was a fabulous book. I am addicted to BudgetYes. It changed my life -- I paid off $10,000 of credit card debt in 6 months and actually look forward to paying my bills each month. For anyone who doesn't necessarily have money "problems" but who knows they ought to learn to live within a budget and wants to set a good example for their children, this is the perfect book. I've given a copy to my sister and my mother. If I could find a diet book that worked as well, I'd be in heaven.

In BudgetYes! you will find solutions to your problems of wandering funds, missing money and unorganized finances. A well explained, detailed and illustrated book that lays it on the table and will help you to get organized with your money and account for every dime. Inside you will not only find well orchestrated instructions, but examples of all of the different layouts you will need to begin to get a grip on your finances. The concepts used here are very similar to the principals of accounting, yet they are explained in a way that you don't need to be a C.P.A. to understand them. I highly recommend this book for anything from getting a grip on your money to setting up a complete household budget. Well done!

Keep this one in your Library, it is difficult to find

The content is very clear, the exercises are complete and there are lots of examples. I specially like the cases based on real businesses. I used this book with an Advanced Finance class of my MBA program.
For those who like modeling there is a section dedicated to LP, IP and GP, very well explained but no Excel or LINDO solutions though.
If you are one that have fun with decision sciences, you can go ahead and solve them using solver or LINDO.
Overall, I recommend it for those looking to keep a good Capital Budgeting book.

This is an excellent book full of interesting ideas. You not only learn circumstances of being "cheap" but also how to adapt your own ideas to cut expenses.

This seems to be good for those who entertain, and those who want to do catering and need some ideas.

Packed with great ideas!

Introduction to terrific author

Stephen W. Meader (1892-1977) published 44 books for children, the first 26 while working full-time in advertising and raising a family. His novels cover much of American history, both in time and place, from Alaska to the Gulf, from colonial days to the jet age. His stories are realistic, imaginative, and exciting.

Meader's work was popular during his lifetime, but more recently, his books fell out of print and were hard to find. Bethlehem Books brought back these four nautical adventures in one inexpensive volume. "Cleared for Action!" contains Clear for Action (War of 1812), Whaler `Round the Horn (1830s), Voyage of the Javelin (1850s), and Phantom of the Blockade (Civil War).

Southern Skies, a small publishing house, is making Stephen Meader's novels available for new generations of readers. To date, they have 11 titles ($20 paperback, $35 hardcover), and plan to reprint all 44.

Now we need another enterprising publisher to resurrect Meader's contemporary master storytellers, Howard Pease and Ronald Welch. I can dream, can't I?

CBM rips the top off the scary world of school construction and other public works and exposes the truth about the bureaucratic bungling that wastes tons of money annually. School districts that aspire to rise above the usual predatory and adversarial approach to construction projects need to make Richard Lingenjo's book required reading for all administrators and board members!

A very interesting and worthwhile read

Experienced construction professionals will encounter humor and a fresh perspective. This book has incredible HOW TO examples for use by all facility owner representatives, architects, or contractors. Even those remotely involved (school board member) in the on-site building effort will gain an "insiders" understanding.

The bearable lightness of nickeling-and-diming

Review Date: 2000-08-21
The nine sections of CREATIVE LOW-BUDGET PUBLICATION DESIGN show high-impact graphics cutting costs with clip art and on-hand photos, imaginative grids and typefaces, and one- or two-color ink printing. What it comes down to on any budget is readability, with easy-to-relate-to centers of attention, designs, and moods. On a shoestring, it also helps to proofread early against corrective reprints and to minimize design and paper expenses, the latter of which can be 50 percent of all costs.

I especially like Mary Pretzer's information on color. Black elegantly organizes while a second color accents. Also, two colors together can create the illusion of a third color, known as the adjacency factor.

Excellent evidence backs each budget measure, and the do-it-yourself section example of a coffee stain scanned for background art proves great ideas can be inexpensive. With a good index and well-explained terms, the book gets along with Val Adkins' CREATIVE BROCHURES & BOOKLETS, Poppy Evans' THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO ECO-FRIENDLY DESIGN, Steven Heller's NEWSLETTERS NOW, and Rita and Roberta Street's CREATIVE NEWSLETTERS & ANNUAL REPORTS. Anyone interested in desktop publishing, graphic arts, marketing or just painlessly learning something new should walk away a happy camper.

This book is a great marketing resource. The thinking behind the examples is what is really inspiring. The book goes beyond being a useful guide and idea resource. It demonstrates how to get results and think creatively whatever your budget.

I've worked in both for-profit and non-profit organizations and Mary Pretzer's book has been a great help for projects in both situations.

Creative Low-Budget Publication Design goes on my list of marketing classics.

This book turned out to be a lot deeper than the title suggests. It is written in a modern Christian approach that is refreshingly appropriate to this day and age. It encourages you to look into your life in ways that you may not have wanted to... but definitely needed to! It is also filled with tons of great tips and tricks from someone who has obiously been there. I would highly reccomend this book!
