Preparation Books

I recently decided to go back to school and received this book as a gift. I cannot imagine trying to get through the admissions process or the loan application process without this book. Great information and easy to read.

This is the best around for the needed EPA 608,609, and 410A certifications.
Clear easy to understand illustrations.
I use this book for teaching apprentices and school students.

This book contains everything that a postgraduate has learned about research methods by the time that they have finished their research and wish they'd known in the first place! That is why I would advise you to read it before you start your research and keep it as a useful reference throughout. The chapters are easy to understand and cover everything from how to plan the research, gather and organise data, process modelling and simulation, presentation of results and how to look for suitable career moves following the successful completion of the postgraduate degree.

There is even a chapter on tips an hint in using MS Excel. This can save the researcher hours of fiddling around to get the spreadsheet to behave properly and produce the desired results.

The second version includes chapters on using the web to find additional data for the study and advice on how to write for ease of understanding.
If you are about to embark on some postgraduate research and you don't read this book right now, in four years' time, you'll wish that you had!

This book really helped me do some soul-searching the last time I looked for a job. It leads you through a series of easy exercises to make you think about your strengths and weaknesses, and lays the groundwork for finding your ideal job. It also offers a lot of sensible, practical advice about what to do and what not to do, most of which I now feel is indispensable to a job search. I recommend this book to you if you are interested in learning more about yourself and how you stand out in the world. It's hard to show anyone else what you're great at if you don't know it for yourself.

My students love using this workbook and the intermediate one. We use them to reinforce concepts we've already studied. The students appreciate the concise review charts and explanations as well as the variety of exercises. (The exercises in each section are arranged from very basic to challenging.) Teachers may want to use this workbook to support differentiated instruction.

it is a very intresting boo

I used this book to prepare for my NMTCB certification- it is a very good book although it does not go into deep detail but is a great starter book. It has about 500 questions in the book with explanations for every answer. I would recommend it.

I'm studying for the California RDA exam (not the same as the DANB RDA exam), and my background is strictly two years of on-the-job training. I did not attend dental assisting classes, but learned everything on the job. Needless to say, when you learn on the job, you don't learn things outside of the scope of your office's practice, so this is a great source of "catch-up" information.

I'm finding the questions hard-- because it requires you to know a little anatomy (which teeth have 5 cusps, of which 3 are on the buccal, and 2 roots), medical terms (amelogenesis, exogenous, granuloma,osteitis), radiography (insufficient KvP causes what problems on films?), a little OSHA (what's the purpose of MSDS?), a little chemistry, a little legal, and a LOT of infection control. This book teaches you many things you wouldn't learn on the job, because your dentist might be old-school, cutting corners, or just not up-to-date on OSHA... or you just didn't need to know it because your office equipment was already set up(like what temperature and pressure are needed to sterilize wrapped instruments).

I love the format of this book-- no fluff, no lengthy text. It's pure brass tacks. This book is strictly questions with 4 multiple-choice answers, and answers with explanation. I recommend, in addition to this book, a good dental dictionary that will help you with the vocabulary that the book doesn't explain. The book tends to explain the correct answer, and sometimes doesn't explain the incorrect answers.

I highly recommend this book.

This is another excellent review book in the RQ series from Parthenon Publishing. On a par with NMS or others more notable. 700 questions for a small investment. Great value!
