Oncology nursing secrets is an excellent guide for community- visiting nurses. Very detailed and accurate information on various types of cancer including nursing assessment, planning, and appropriate interventions. Provides indepth patient S&S and interventions that were not taught in nursing school!! Enables the RN to take a preventative approach to care of his/her clients. This book became my best friend as my cancer case load increased.

I have provided my research team with this reference book. We all have differing backgrounds and are responsible for abstracting medical records of cancer patients. Our credentials range from MD, RN, CTR, MIS. This book has been most useful to us all - in particular the Chemotherapy data. We hope there is a new edition in the works since therapy changes rapidly, in part we hope as the result of our data collection.

This book utilizes the science and physiology you possess from nursing school and your experiences in clinical practice to present concise, easy-to-reference text in a Q&A format. I also highly recommend the Core Curriculum for Oncology Nursing for anyone taking the OCN exam.

I've worked on a med-surg/oncology unit for a little more than a year now and this book has really helped me out, especially in regards to chemotherapy administration and side effects. It contains a wealth of information that I haven't been able to find anywhere else (from one source). There are chapters devoted to different types of cancers, as well as chapters on radiation, biotherapy, bone marrow transplants, and palliative care. I can't recommend this book highly enough -- perfect for oncology nurses!

This book was a great help to me as a family NP starting over in Hem/Onc! I did not have an oncology background, and it's very easy to understand, and answered many of the questions I have had in the field. I find it to be a good resource, and refer to it still.

This is a very high-yield little book written with Step 1 in mind. As the title implies, it focuses on pathology and pathophysiology. There is no wasted space, and don't be fooled by its small size, there is quite a lot of information in there. It is especially helpful as it contains useful information about refining your differential diagnosis (how to tell two similar diseases apart) based on sublties in the presentation. There is a lot of information you might not get in your pathology course (e.g. prerenal vs renal azotemia based on urine chemistry.) There is a section on zebras/syndromes (if you're like me, these are a devil to remember), a few pages of nice glossy images, and 75 Step 1 style questions with explanations in the back. Overally, a lot of information in a small package, including many unusual diseases not mentioned in many other review texts. A worthwhile read!

pretty decent book...i read this along with BRS...there are some mistakes in this book tho...when i first read through it...i felt like i was reading through a med students coursework notes because everything is in bullets...and hard to understand....if you read brs first...and use this afterwards...it makes more sense...its a decent book...with some good questions in the back...I Was too lazy to do all of them though...

I wish I would have used this book prior to taking Step 1. This review book has many of the nit-picky details that I saw on my USMLE. I would recommend this book for those who have not taken Step 1 and I would also recommend the clinical boards and wards book for your clinical rotations. Good luck on your exam.

This book and Secrets are great condensed multi-subject reviews. When you get tired of reading FirstAid, Step-up and the subject-based review books (e.g. BRS Phys), this book is a great supplement. If you can find time for this kind of studying, you'll enjoy this small, condensed book.

I'm also looking forward to using it on rotations starting this summer.

I bought this book when i was reviewing for my Medical Technology certification exam. The book is more difficult than the certification exam. But the beauty of this book is that it will make you understand the rationale and principles behind all the laboratory tests and procedures. If you can pass at least 60% of the questions in this book. You have a good chance of passing the certification exam.

Excellent textbook for Medical Pharmacology

Written by a medical student
Comparing this to Lange Pharmacology(Big and Little version), Golan's Pharmacology is a brilliantly written text, well organized, and developed for the Medical student in mind. Its very easy to read with language thats appropriate for the student. All drugs are logically laid out in a organized manner per chapter. Chapters build up a step wise manner: normal physiology section, the pathophysiology or pathology of disease section, finally the pharmacology section. Not a random collection of facts or details like Lange series, that book is extremely difficult to follow. I feel the authors of Lange pharmacology omit a lot of important details, like not writing much about medications' side effects, making it difficult to distinguish between various medications of each group from each other. Golan's Pharmacology thankfully was written to explain the various differences in each drug mechanics, therapeutics, and side effects. Best of all, the the last chapter in each unit has an integrated pharmacology section teaching competently how to utilize combination therapy. Should be the standard text in medical pharmacology courses!

I HIGHLY recommend this text as a supplement for any pharm class. It's condensed enough so that it's not overwhelming, very well organized, and it covers the fundamental pathophys associated with each type of drug. It filled in the gaps left by my pharm class, and I think it'll prove to be useful in clinic as well.

Huge, but excellent for really understanding material

Exceptional for learning the basics. I had a few all-important concepts that I just couldn't get: G-proteins, the anterior pituitary hormones, and the alpha/beta/cholinergic agonists and antagonists. After struggling to learn each of these several times from lecture notes and other books, I turned to this book. It worked well for me because it teaches in a conceptual way and helps develop your understanding of the material. It will take a little more time, but if this is the way you learn, it will really help.

I went back to this book many times when I ran into difficult questions reviewing for Step 1 and realized that I didn't really understand the basic concepts.

Not the book to use the night before your pharm exam: for that, I'd use the small Katzung and Trevor.

Just get this book as soon as possible!

The second edition is usually better than the first one, and the first one was simply excellent! A great book, with a problem-based learning approach in mind, updated and with many new and important chapters (Protein Therapies, Drug Delivery Advances, Pharmacogenetics, among others). The good thing with this book is that any chapter deals with the necessary coverage of anatomy, physiology, pathology and so on before coming to the drugs facts. With the early med student in mind, the book will be useful for any health related career. The book is clear, is concise -notwithstanding comprehensive-, and with a complete set of drug facts tables at the end of most chapters. Simply said, the kind of book I'd liked to write myself.

One more thing: The book is brilliantly complemented by its companion book, "Principles of Pharmacology Workbook", by S. Farrell, a great account of more than 100 clinical cases regarding each chapter of the main book, with no less than five questions -and their corresponding answers- for every one of the cases. The ideal complement to make this couple of books the best pharmacology books in the scene today. I work very actively with both of them in teaching my own pharmacology courses.

Armen(Tashjian) and others have invented a unique type of pharmacology textbook in collaboration with Harvard Med Stud! Each chapter begins with the short introduction of a case report, relevant to each drug. This may give an easy undestanding of clinical significance of the drug to med stud, interns, pharmacologists and even clinicians. I believe that it will evolve into the classic of pharmaocolgy textbook!!

When I first took biochemistry, it was the 1st term of medical school. I knew absolutely nothing when I was done, and felt like I was just memorizing a bunch of random facts/pathways.

After taking 90% of our basic science curriculum, and then reading this book, it tied in Biochemistry with all of the rest of my knowledge very well, and in a very easy to read outline format with EXCELLENT diagrams and charts. If you care about biochemistry at all for your boards prep, this is a great choice. Also, co-authored by Goljan, and you can see his hand all over this book with the clinical tie-ins.

Also, I have heard so much about Goljan, Goljan, Goljan. So within 5 days or so of laying my hands on the RR Biochem, I ordered for the Pathology brother written by Goljan. They say the man sure knows how to tie Path, Biochem, etc together. I can't wait to get my hands on that as well. RR Biochem rocks, and I am now almost certain RR Path rocks more, if what I hear from reviews follows

It's the best atlas I've ever seen, it has clear images (sometimes, I think I'm seeing a photo, not a drawing), its "boxes" with information about muscles, etc. are very well done. And its "naming" of the organs, bones, etc. it's not as confusing as Netter's. I own Sobotta and Netter and, Sobotta, for me, simply defeats Netter in every single detail. A must have if you're a medical student.

Awesome!! I highly recommend Sobotta (Book/CD-ROM) whether used alone or as a supplement to Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy. I am a physician assistant graduate student at Marquette University and I find the illustrations & references to be very useful when studying for my gross anatomy lecture & lab. Sobotta provides modern imaging diagnostics, endoscopic images, color photographs of surgical views, etc. not found in Netter's. The CD-ROM has all the plates found in the book, but gives you the option to quiz yourself which is very useful. It also allows you to display/hide markers on illustrations, also useful for study purposes. Indexs, tables etc are cross-referenced. If you are looking for a tool to help you maximize your anatomy study/review & you have easy access to a computer/laptop with a CD-ROM, get the Sobotta CD-ROM. You'll find it a great resource!!!

What an unbelievable resource for the bar/bat mitzvah planner. I am so lucky to have this book 2 years in advance of my daughter's big day. This book is so much more than an organization tool; it helps frame the occasion, with ideas for personalizing and bringing meaning to this incredibly joyous day. The book gives detailed ideas for mitzvah projects, decor and themes that reflect your family's values, and more. This book will allow me to create a one-of-a-kind, deeply meaningful bar or bat mitzvah -- and not one of those cookie-cutter events.

After this last nerve-splitting experience, it's really refreshing to read a book by someone who really seems to understand not only the true essence of Bar and Bat Mitzvah, but how to make it a truly joyful experience. If you are planning a Bar Mitzvah or you will be doing so any time in the not-too-distant future, this book is a MUST buy!

We're an interfaith couple with children now 9 and 11 so we have two bar mitzvah's coming up. We've been to many bar/bat mitzvahs we've found uninspiring from a spiritual perspective, although certainly not lacking in glitz and expense.
This "guide" brings a refreshingly thoughtful and inspiring approach to creating a truly authentic celebration for one's family and friends.
It has helped us focus on what's important and reduced the anxiety level around the planning tremendously. Visit the website: http://ultimatebarbatmitzvah.com/

My parents were kind enough to send me this wonderful book on Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebrations! I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate the book -- in particular, it's ability to retain a focus on what the event is all about. My husband and I have always believed that this is an event that comes with its own theme and we've been working very hard on planning a day that celebrates our daughter and her accomplishments, and that feels grounded in Judaism. My copy of the book is already tabbed on many pages with ideas that will help us to do just that.

I love this book. It helped me get great grades on tests in class and a 5 on the AP exam! Our textbook was more than 1200 pages -- too long! I bought this review book a few months after the class started. But I should have bought it at the beginning of the year because once I began to study from it, I started to do better on class tests.

My teacher always gave us essay questions on her tests and the Free-Response Questions and Answers at the end of every chapter are really great. They really explain the material clearly. Also, the review book has 1 diagnostic test and 2 practice tests. That's more than any other review book that I saw.

Rose and Bob Weiner have created one of the best "discover for yourself" books which benchmarks the development of a believer's relationship with God. Using the Song of Solomon as a guide they allow the Christian Believer to view their relationship with the Heavenly Lover of all, as His Bride. As one uses this study guide and the Bible to delve the depths of this relationship, they will begin to understand the rituals of attraction, pursuit and courtship that God uses to woo the believer into ever-increasing oneness with Him. This book has not only led me deeper into love with Jesus, but has shown me how much more of Him is available. For anyone wanting to be caught up in the Passion of Jesus, he/she will definitely want to start here.

An in-depth Bible study of the inner life with Christ
Helpful Votes: 16 out of 16 total.
Review Date: 1999-07-09
This Bible study requires diligence; at 234 pages it took me a year to complete it. It rewards the student with an understanding of Christ's purpose for His Bride, the Church, to stand forth in purity and to labor to bring many to Him until the time when the kingdom of this world becomes the kingdom of God and of His Christ. This study shows how God intended marriage to be a picture of salvation; hence the pains of our enemy the devil to denigrate marriage and the relationship between Christ and believers. This study should be as illustrative for male believers as for female, in teaching them how to relate to Christ in intimate spiritual fellowship as symbolized by the Bride and Groom. Anyone reading the Bible with sincerity rather than a supercilious attitude will readily see that effeminate qualities are not implied for either Christ or male believers in this relationship in Song of Solomon, 2 Corinthians 11:2, Ephesians 5:21-32, Revelations 19:6-9, the teachings of Christ in the Gospels, or any other reference. This excellent study covers these points and many more. And the Spirit and the Bride say, Come!

I can only add to those positive reviews my own personal experience. The Lord has transformed my relationship, my walk with Him through this study over the years. Some, I'm sure, will work through it in the space of weeks; others, like me, will find themselves relishing a slow soaking in His love and His Word as it washes over them. My only caviat is this: if you do not want to be challenged in your walk, or are satisfied with the safety of spiritual "fire insurance" but the idea of spiritual intimacy with the Bridegroom King is distasteful to you, then do not order this. If, on the other hand, you are fed up with business as usual and find yourself craving more---if you hunger and thirst for the depths of Jesus Christ, then don't wait another minute--order it now; the Lord is surely drawing you. Get ready-He is about to rock your world!

This planner is wonderful! Anything I needed to know was in here. I was surprised that it was so much cheaper than all of the others. Completely worth the money. I would recommend this to any bride.

I looked through all the books on the shelves at Barnes and Nobles and other bookstores before using this planner for my May 2007 wedding. I read this planner from cover to cover, and found it had the most useful information I needed, and because it was in a binder I could easily add pages of information I had printed off the internet. The binder also makes it easy to remove pages that as an individual you may not need.

I found my wedding planning to be really easy with all the timetable and guidlines this planner had to offer, and my guests and vendors were all impressed with how on top of things I was.

I would HIGHLY recommend this planner to any bride planning her wedding on her own, or with the help of a wedding planner. I had a $20,000 wedding with 200 guests, worked full time until two weeks before the big day, had no wedding planner, my bridal party and family lived 1,000 miles aways and could not help me, I lived 100 miles from my wedding location, and I had eight months to pull it off. Yet I pulled off a great wedding using this planner and have had people recommend a new career.

This is the best planner I have seen out there. It's the perfect size so you can tear out pages and insert them into the book without having to fold everything up.

I purchased mine brand new (they have them in stock) from Barnes and Noble for $14.95.

A great value, it's a wonder no one seems to know about it!

I am very skeptical about buying a planner online. I want to actually be able to thumb through the pages, and see what each has to offer. I didn't see this on here before I bought it in a bookstore, and I'm really suprised that there is only one review on it!

This planner has A LOT of helpful information, tips, and ettiquite for thos of us who don't really know what we are doing! It isn't over-kill, which is really nice, because I can't really see myself spending hours reading about EVERY detail. There is also no cheesy pictures of "ideas", most of which, are out dated, or not my taste. It was only $20 in the store, and totally worth it. There are lots of places to put your own notes, and add brochures.

I also love the fact that this is a hard cover binder. There is a version that is a soft cover binder too, but I prefer this, since it will be able to keep everything nice, and I can write on it if I need to also. This is really something that I will recomend to any bride!

I'm surprised to see that nobody else has recommended this planner yet! Before selecting this one I looked at the various other planners on Amazon and read their reviews. Since this one didn't even rank because nobody had reviewed it yet, I didn't even consider it until I ran across it at the bookstore.

The first reason I picked it up was because it is ring-bound and full letter size, meaning I could add pages for notes and contracts easily (otherwise I might have picked the Simple Stunning planner due its high review average). The binder isn't the highest quality (kind of like an economy hardback book), but at least it isn't bubble gum pink or plastered with cheesy pictures. I'm thinking I will eventually transfer the contents to a regular binder. To me, this isn't a big deal.

This planner is published by the same people as The Bride's Book of Lists, which also has a high review average. In fact, it looks like the lists and tables from that book just migrated to the new binder format. The tables are really helpful because they are a list of interview questions for the various kinds of vendors. Several columns to the right of the questions let you do a side-by-side comparison of all the responses. This is a feature that I didn't see in any of the planners that I looked through. Other planners only had space for the final selections and didn't act as a workbook to help me figure out which vendor to pick.

There are no photographs and relatively few illustrations. I like this because I plan to buy other books and materials for ideas and don't need my planner for that purpose. Really, I love it that this one cut out all the frou-frou stuff and gets right down to the nuts and bolts of planning. It does have a few examples, suggestions and tips, but overall it's primarily a workbook.

Other planners have plastic pockets/sleaves for keeping clippings, samples and contracts, which is great. This one does have pockets in the dividers, but they are cardstock weight paper. Again, I'll probably just add my own plastic sleaves as needed.

Since I've only just begun to plan, I don't know how comprehensive the lists or questions will be, but they look good so far.
