Preparation Books

The first time I took the SAT, I was quite disappointed with my score; I felt that the score did not reflect my skills or potential. I had not studied and I decided that I would take it again and go through an SAT course book beforehand. I picked this book and went through it, it was easy to understand and not boring or tedious. The examples helped me realize the mistakes I had made the first time and I felt much more confident on testing day (October 14, 2006). I received my scores on November 2nd, and not only did my whole score improve by 230 points, but I got a perfect 800 score on the math section! My writing score had improved by 80 points, my critical reading score had improved by 20, and my math score by 130 points. I spent the most time studying the math section, but I'm sure that if I had spent more time looking over the critical reading section, my critical reading score would have improved more. I highly recomend this book!

My daughter recently took the SAT and The SAT Advantage with Professor Dave really helped her prepare. She liked the book, and used it a lot. She did very well on the exam. I highly recommend it for other students. Professor Dave's conversational style was informative, yet entertaining. He covered all aspects of the material, and the book was a great asset. Way to go, Professor Dave!

I bought this book back in Jan/Feb 05 to prepare for my CMA certification this summer. It is an easy book to follow and it covers everything! I'd highly recommend it. Oh & yes I passed with flying colors...: )

I mostly just used these cards to study for my exam, and it was a great preparation for the exact type of wording and questions you find on the exam. I was able to pass no problem and I recommend using these cards to review. The cards are broken up into different sections, and there is a comprehensive exam section as well. That way, if you don't have a lot of time to prepare for the state exam, you can take the comprehensive exam and use that to determine what sections you need the most work on.

These were purchased for my daughter and she felt these would help with her boards. They did! I will now be purchasing the NCLEX-RN for her next step to the final boards.

The bible for GMAT sentence correction just got bigger, better and more streamlined!

This is definitely a must have for anyone who wants to do well on their GMAT verbal. The book is literally twice as big as the first edition and includes a lot of nuances and mini rules/exceptions not covered in the previous editions.

As usual, the book also comes with access to the 6 MGMAT CAT exams as well.

The GMAT Sentence Correction is what massacres their most people's GMAT score. This book provides GMAT SC coverage better than any book I know.

The previous edition of MGMAT Sentence Correction was decent. But it only covered part of what is tested on the GMAT. This version has largely resolved that problem.

This book covers many areas such as "complex verbs that act as nouns" which is not covered in the previous version. The anonymous authors of this book are apparently high level experts of not only GMAT SC but also general grammar.

GMAT has changed over the years and it has become a substantially different test. The Official Guides no longer provides an accurate guidance of the type and the difficulty level of the actual GMAT questions. If you have taken GMAT Prep (provided free by providers of GMAT), then you will know what I mean.

I have purchased the previous MGMAT SC, PowerPrep SC, and this book. By a wide margin, this book provides the best coverage of both the range and the difficulty level of the real GMAT SC questions.

This is not a short book and you will need to master every inch of it to do well on the GMAT SC. I highly recommend it as the primary source for GMAT SC studies.

Every college student who has to create a portfolio should own this book! It provides a step by step guide for creating a portfolio. Excellent book!

Its a very concise speaking book. As there is no TSE test anymore in the US its good for IBT and speak test practice. Even it has CD.

The book is an excellent, complete guide for preparing for tests of spoken English. It is particularly tailored for the TSE. The book is broken up in sections each of which addresses one type of the questions asked in the TSE. In guided practices, one can familiarize oneself with the style and format of TSE questions. Additional "free practices" are provided for further training. Several practice tests and hints for correct pronounciation and grammar are also included in the book and complete the preparation course.

This book has really good practice worksheets on each Califronia math and Language Arts standard, plus sample tests. You get more than just sample tests, which is good, so your kids can practice the specific skills being tested first. It's easy to use the practice worksheets over a few weeks, then use the tests just before the real test. Or, use the whole book over the Summer to prepare for a grade, or review. I think our kids did better last year because of this.

This book did an outstanding job of preparing my child for the state test. It gives clear, concise reviews for the test scope and provides drills for each topic. The problem items are very similar to those in the real test. Many test taking tips are given and demonstrated. I wish it had more pages. For additional practice, I found Beestar very helpful, too (a nice Houston community web site http://www.beestar.org). My child scored fairly high thanks to such like-real standard test drills.

Spectrum Books were recommended by my child's teacher. Now I can understand why. We home school and these books are great. They self teach and are easy to understand. They are economically priced which is rare in educational books. I find that every Spectrum Book on every subject is equally as great. Not only are they valuable to home schooled kids like mine, they also are great to tutor kids in traditional schools who may need a little help. I will never hesitate to buy any book under the Spectrum name brand. They are tops. However it's my nature to be picky, so here it goes, the only thing I recommend is removing the answers from the back of the book. All the pages have been conveniently perforated. Because if you have a child like mine, he'll discover this before you do and whiz through his assignments without getting any question wrong. I'll be buying these books for years to come. I love them and it will be hard to find anything better.

I've bought several books in the Test Prep series, and they are all great workbooks for revision and test practice. Depending on which grade level is being used, they are divided into well-defined sections such as grammar, comprehension, vocabulary, literature, and math. For extra study at home, I think these are really helpful books for the home-study student.

I graduated LPN school in the summer of 06' and right after graduating school I had to buy the newest edition to this book, because not only is it a very easy read, but it is one of the best reference books out their espically for nurses in Hospitals!! If you are deffently in the Medical-Surgical part of Nursing this deffently would be the book you would want to buy!!

I graduated from LPN school in April 2006. I wanted one book to use as a reference rather than searching through all of my previous books, and I always loved the LPN thread books. They are specifically for MY practice, and I do believe that RNs can also benefit from using this text. I purchased this after I started working and I read it once or twice a week to keep up with information. Well worth the purchase, folks!

Successful Career Management offers "real life" career advice for students, managers, executives and teachers in search of another opinion about management decisions and business affairs. A management and marketing instructor for undergraduate and graduate MBA students, I use this book as a companion for student use in simulation and scenario based projects. Robert Donald's advice should be separated from other "self help" management advice books, as the leadership and career advice could be applied by any level of management. I truly enjoyed reading the book myself and felt motivated immediately to put the strategies into action in my business. I always advise my students to read at least five books which I consider key for success: Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, You are the Message by Roger Ailes, Control Your Own Destiny or Someone Else Will by Jack Welch, In Search of Excellence by Tom Peters and Successful Career Management by Robert Donald. Donald's book encourages the reader to explore their own strengths and weaknesses and prompts them to recognize the real corporate world. Most of us are curious abut what our strengths might be, and with this book self examination shouldn't be a difficult process. You will be able to use Mr. Donald's advice to control specific situations and develop an individualized career action plan. A Great Read!!!

Excellent book! Not just a good read but a great source for information. This book is the best college graduation gift other than money. It would be the perfect reference book for those starting their careers, or like myself in mid-career look for an edge as well as for those getting ready for retirement and looking to start their own business. Great tips for performance reviews, career planning & personal branding just to name a few. I had some great mentors in my 15 year career in corporate America; Mr. Donald does a great job of summarizing some of their advice and adding many more. The personal insights and lesson learned are priceless. This book has turned out to be a sound investment for my future and the future of my family. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking excellence in their careers and/or personal endeavors.
