I had to buy this book for my Intro to Digital Prepress class. While I have never sat down and read the book cover to cover, I read enough of each chapter to learn a lot about preflight and file preparation; Precisely what the book advertises. It gave the information in a straight forward manner and wasn't too technical in the least. This is definitely a book I'm hanging on to because it has such valuable information in it. If you are a student in graphic design or prepress (or even a person who is already in the field and needs a good resource) this book is it. It's clear and concise. Unlike a typical textbook.

I highly recommend this book. It is the best book I have ever read on the subject. Other books did not provide enough information. They were too technical and related to people wanting to go into printing rather than graphic designers. This one is excellent and will make your printing assingments better and faster then ever.

GREAT GUIDE

I bought this along with 4 other guides and this was easier to follow for
me. Loved the outline set up, simple and to the point and tells you
why an answer is correct.

I made flashcards of each test and just kept at it until I understood
material that I was weak in.

Usethis along with Laura Allen and Duke Cassel/Ashton book and you
will be able to pass the exam.

Useful Study Guide

This is a great study guide for the PTCE. It is helpful if you have already studied for the test and want to quiz yourself. I used it by answering about 50 questions at a time and then going back and looking at my answers to see how I did. The answers are helpful because they explain each answer (especially for the drug names and types). A few of the answers are incorrect (like they were written for another question), but it is easy to figure out the mistakes. I recommend using this study guide if you want to spend some time drilling yourself. I did great on the PTCE thanks to using this book along with some other study guides!

I am using this book to help me for my Fundamentals nursing class. The questions are really great as well as the rationales. There are 20 questions per chapter, as well as 10 more on the CD (per chapter). It also has a nice review of the section that the questions are based on.

Excellent gift for seniors!

Review Date: 2005-01-03
Older people do not react the same way to medications that younger persons might and need to be especially careful with over the counter medications and with possible side effects from taking many different drugs. Putting together a manual with overthecounter drugs and prescription drugs together in one book is an excellent idea. This is very clearly written and has short explanations of most medications including the possible side effects. Clear type makes it easy to read and handle. I highly recommend it.

A Large Dose of Good Info at a Small Budget Price

I'm a patient of Dr. Eli Ehrenpreis. During a recent visit we revealed to each other that we are both authors. After I left his medical office, out of curiosity I went to the local library and picked up a copy of his "...Drug Guide for Seniors".

It turns out that Eli and his father have compiled quite a useful reference work. Accumulated wisdom regarding a huge number of drugs has been extremely well organized. The little pill you're taking won't seem so mysterious after you've studied its entry. There's a wealth of good information here that you really should know but won't find on the medicine bottle. It could become your lifesaver.

I don't yet qualify as a "senior", but I'd highly recommend purchase of "...Drug Guide for Seniors" for the home library of any older person on a drug regimen. It's quite a large book at a very low price, so you'd be better served owning a copy rather than trudging up to the public library every time you wish to refer to it.

This is a great companion for an excellent textbook.
The cases are appealing and written really interesting manner, highlighting the most important concepts presented in "Principles of Pharmacology: The Pathophysiologic Basis of Drug Therapy".
By adding a smart dose of clinical medicine to pharmacology, the workbook helps to bridge the traditional gap between basic science and clinical medicine.
Students will find this book a valuable resource for turning a tough subject into something really enjoyable. Lecturers will also value it as an excellent teaching tool. In fact, I would say it's a must have for any pharmacology instructor.
Congratulations to Drs Golan and Farrell!

Just get this book as soon as possible!

This review is simply a copy of my evaluation of the main book, "Principles of Pharmacology: The Pathophysiologic Basis of Drug Therapy", 2e by D. Golan et al.

The second edition is usually better than the first one, and the first one was simply excellent! A great book -I mean, the book mentioned above-, with a problem-based learning approach in mind, updated and with many new and important chapters (Protein Therapies, Drug Delivery Advances, Pharmacogenetics, among others). The good thing with this book is that any chapter deals with the necessary coverage of anatomy, physiology, pathology and so on before coming to the drugs facts. With the early med student in mind, the book will be useful for any health related career. The book is clear, is concise -notwithstanding comprehensive-, and with a complete set of drug facts tables at the end of most chapters. Simply said, the kind of book I'd liked to write myself.

One more thing: The book is brilliantly complemented by its companion book, "Principles of Pharmacology Workbook" -the book reviewed here-, by S. Farrell, a great account of more than 100 clinical cases regarding each chapter of the main book, with no less than five questions -and their corresponding answers- for every one of the cases. The ideal complement to make this couple of books the best pharmacology books in the scene today. I work very actively with both of them in teaching my own pharmacology courses.

If I hadn't been made aware of this guide, the exam would have been a complete disaster. Not only does it offer a wide choice in the type of questions encountered in the exam, but explanations of some of the more obscure concepts are simple and concise. I can't recommend the guide enough to anyone sitting the CCA exam. I also bought the 2008 edition thinking that the questions would be completely different when in reality about 95% are the same.

In a few weeks I am going for the third time to take my certification exam for CCA. I missed passing it twice due to the fact that Hurricane Katrina hit just a month after finishing the entire AHIMA CCA courses. Being away from the material for over 2 years and not being able to find a job because so many were lost in Biloxi and never recovered, I have no practical experience. I had no idea where to even begin to study using all of my books. Thanks to the excellent writing of this book, I have hope that this time I can pass as the book helps you to relearn.

I took my test for the third time and passed!! I truly believe that it is due to this book. The book helped me to relearn what I had forgotten and did it in such a helpful and thoughtful manner. It helped me to finally focus on what I needed to study and I am so grateful to the author for putting in the "I think I can" attitude. I did pass by doing it one question at a time.

All of the questions were straightforward. If you didn't understand any of the questions, the references were either right after the question or at the end of each chapter for review. There were a couple of times that I did not comprehend some of the questions and, luckily, was able to refer back to my books for help. Anyone considering sitting for their CCS or anyone just looking for a good Coding review, I would highly recommend purchasing this book.

This was the only book I used during my clinical rotation in Psych. Fadem's High Yield Psych is also great. If you're planning on becoming a psychiatrist, then you should get the massive Synopsis of Psychiatry... which I always thought was just way too much info for most people.
This book fits in your white coat pocket and is great for reviewing questions in your spare time. It consists of tons of board-type questions in the same format as all the other Pre-test books, complete with explanations.
