I bought this book and no other book for review prior to my LPN boards. I reviewed the book and broke it down into parts (the book is random information). It seemed like every question that came up was in this book. I have recommended it (and its companion book for RN's ) to everyone I know taking the tests. It is simply the best source of info: I've even used both books while on duty to as a quick resource. Good luck to all taking the Boards.

Smart yet practical

Crisp and to the point yet encompasses many of the concerns and misunderstandings about the transition from training to "real life".

Dr. Campen nicely breaks things down. She goes into great detail with specific issues such as office equipment and furnishings, dealing with insurance, and even more philosophical subjects such as avoiding liability and enjoying your practice.

My favorite part of the book is Chapter 5 where Dr. Campen literally goes step-by-step (from 1-31) on opening an office.

This is a practical, well-written and up-to-date text that is indispensable in opening a practice for the first time.

The most important recommendation I can make, however, is to read it very early during training as it will serve as an excellent guide for learning things during training that are frequently looked over.

A necessity for anyone going into practice....

I would recommend this book to anyone going into medical practice, private or academic. This book is very practical and covers a wide range of topics, including choosing a practice location, designing your practice, malpractice issues, and complying with federal & health care regulations. I really enjoyed reading this book & wish that it had been available earlier in my career. This book would make an excellent gift for medical students as well as those already with established practices.

This book should be read to all children

This book is a wonderful introduction into the scary prospect of going to the doctor. The author was challenged to write this book by a six year old child named Max.

Brazelton does an excellent job in talking to the child and not at the child. It is written in clear and easy to understand language. The author has the ability of communicating with children and making them feel comfortable.

The drawings are wonderful insights into a child's apprehension of visiting the doctor. The illustrations happen to be done by Brazelton's oldest grandson.

The Afterword for Parents is something that every parent should read. I liked how Brazelton emphasized the need for parents to prepare their children for all medical events. He cites his research done at the Children's Hospital in Boston that children who were prepared for surgery by their parents recovered significantly better than the parents who did not prepare their children. He emphasizes that children should also be prepared about their trip to the doctor.

Brazelton's aim is at trying to make the trip to a doctor less stressful for the child. He definitely suceeds with his intentions.

Great! I wish this book had been around when I was a kid.

I think that this book would be great for children. It helps to minimize some of the fears that they may have about going for a visit to the doctor. It's easy to read and it's written in a way that can be easily followed by a child. I especially liked the way in which privacy was addressed and the Afterward for Parents section. I'd recommend it to anyone with children. I wish it had been around when mine where young, in fact I wish it had been around when I was young. Maybe then I wouldn't have felt so bad about going to the doctor.

Test Prep Through Great Literature!

Although I had never heard of this author or publisher, I took a chance and cannot be more excited about the quality of materials! There is everything in this book! From a simple biography plus reading questions about Shakespeare, an Anticipation/Reaction guide (which the kids loved!), literary terms to know (and their definitions), lessons on iambic pentameter and the sonnet form, a (doable) vocabulary list, scene guides for tracking the action and plot of the play, focus activities for each act, vocabulary exercises, test preparation, quizzes for each act (including vocabulary quizzes!), a final test, a summary of the play act by act, and pre-reading and post-reading activities! This is by far the most valuable guide I have ever seen for teaching high school students the complicated and often intimidating world of Shakespeare. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I cannot express enough how valuable this literature guide is. I have been teaching for over ten years now, and I have NEVER found a piece of gold like this! Whether you are a new teacher or an experienced pro, you want to have a life. This guide has everything I need to teach Hamlet--and more. Mrs. Bowers has done all the work for me. It begins with an author biography and questions to go along with the biography, pre-reading activities to choose from, vocabulary list (in bite-size pieces!), "Standards Focus" activities which specifically focus on the content standards for 11th and 12th grade. It then has vocabulary activities, fun activities to review the vocab, quizzes, a test, and other ideas for testing. With all this, I can sit back and acutally teach for a change.

This book answered all the questions I had about ginseng. I highly recommend it to anybody who is health oriented. Too many people have the tendancy to use herbs and supplements however without realizing that too much or not enough can affect your health in a negative way. If you are serious about taking ginseng, it is very important to know how to use ginseng or you will be sorry!

Excellent resource on how herbs work as tonics.

This book not only offers a great overview of ginseng research, but Bergner goes out of his way to explain how to purchase ginseng, other tonic herbs, and Chinese patent medicines. In fact, there is a chapter on explaining constitutional medicine and the terms "excess" and "deficiency." Wow! So helpful to us folks who are unfamiliar with these concepts. Bergner's stories of people who have suffered early aging effects from taking too much ginseng over many years is absolutely fascinating and informative. Robyn Klein, editor of The Herbalist

As a certified herbalist, I can tell you that if you're considering increasing your knowledge in the herbalist field, Debra St. Claire is an excellent educator. She gives the basics, demonstrates, and provides excellent time-tested recipes. Don't just buy the [$$] paperback recipe book -- be sure to get the how-to videos too. You'll also get some expert tips; Like who knew the inside of ripe banana skins, when used as a poultice, gets rid of warts?...

My son found the entire text helpful in our learning process of book reports. I homeschool and we try to find books to help him learn on his own, this book was perfect for it. He was able to easily follow the directions and apply them to real reports that I require he write for me once each month on a book he has finished. We used this for our fifth grade curriculm writing.

This is a great book!

I am currently prepping for the ConCert exam and am trying to streamline my studies. I am also answering lots of questions from various sources. Just the Facts seems to cover all the important points (i.e., has the answers to most of the questions), without bogging you down. It would not be a good resource for someone just starting to learn EM, but is a great resource for those who just need a review.

Bought this for my girlfriend as she prepares for Medschool. Last night she had said she loves the books I bought her. And they are very helpful. Of course we don't speak that robotic and distant, but you get the idea.
