If you are preparing to take the California baby bar exam then this book is a must have! It gives model essay answers in Criminal Law, Contracts and Torts. The questions and answers in this study guide are as close to what's to be expected on the California baby bar exam as anything out there. This study guide also does an excellent job of showing you how to spot issues in baby bar questions. Fleming's Fundamentals of Law has done it again!

I am a 4th year medical student and found this book to be an excellent review of preclinical basic science material. It is concise but detailed enough. It can be used as a quick reference when you don't have time to read a larger source. Highly recommended to add to your library. Just wish there was a new edition.

I am a surgeon and found this book lucid and very readable, and at the same time containing more than enough information for principles of surgery examinations for residents. Its critical mode of writing will also serve the surgeon well throughout his/her surgical career and will inculcate a certain critical ability in its reader. My only suggestion for improvement would be a more upto date edition and a slightly better written chapter on biostatistics. Good work Savage et al! Thumbs up all the way!

For anyone who used the AAOS's "Orange Book" for their EMT-B course, this book, under the Brady name, is a good book to have because you get a different perspective on the same things. Of course, the Brady series has always been solid anyway.

I purchased this book two weeks ago. I have not taken my NCLEX test yet, but I do think this book has been really helpful in helping me to review two years worth of information! The book covers a lot of information, but is easy to follow. I like the practice tests also. I'm confident I will pass my NCLEX with the help of this book.
GOOD NEWS!! I took (and PASSED) my NCLEX exam on August 7. This book helped me alot. Good luck to everyone with their exam.

Gordo makes it fun to pursue your extra class ticket. I was able to obtain my technician and general class licenses after four weeks of part time studying and listening to Gordo's audio CDs during my commute. Highly recommended.

As always, Gordon West presents the exam material in a fun manner that makes learning much more enjoyable. I've used his books along with online practtice exams to obtain my Tech and General class tickets. I was able to ace the General class exam (didn't miss any) without any trouble.

Use Gordo's advice presented in his books along with online practice exams and you'll have no problem at all passing the real exams.

It's always hard to figure out which search engine to use when you're trying to find information on the Web. Hock's book does a great job at sorting out the strengths and weaknesses of each of the major search engines, as well as providing easy-to-read documentation of features such as phrase searching and searching for personal names. I especially liked the sections on "What Happens Behind the Scenes" and "Special Options," which show where each search engine excels. Any serious Net.searcher should have this book within arm's reach.

Makes Finding Information Online a Much Easier Task!

Review Date: 1999-12-08
The availability of a lot of information on the Internet has made finding specific information a more difficult task to accomplish. Unless someone knows were to find something online they must make use of existing tools to find it. A number of elaborate search engine tools were created with this one goal in mind.

Randolph Hock has written The Extreme Searcher's Guide to Web Search Engines to provide us with helpful insight into how existing search engines can be put to use to help researchers find specific information online. A number of these search engines have been around for a while and have seen much use, but time, effort, and money can be saved by becoming more familiar with the major ones and using those that will get the job done!

This book covers the operation and use of major search engines such as Alta Vista, Excite, HotBot, Infoseek, Internet Sleuth, Lycos, Northern Light, WebCrawler, Yahoo, and others. Readers will find out that there are not only search engines that search the 'Net, but search engines that search multiple search engines themselves! Some of these are covered in the book as well!

Readers are introduced to each search engine covered in the book. Screen shots, entry fields, and information about special functions and use are provided. They will learn how each search engine operates and how they should be put to the best possible use. They are compared with one another and the author offers his own opinion of the strengths and weaknesses of each one. Readers are left to determine which search engines are best suited for their own particular needs. An accompanying Website provides updated information at their fingertips!

The book is ideally suited for professional researchers, students, businesses, and libraries. It can be read from cover-to-cover or opened up at any particular place as special needs arise. It is thoughtfully written and very readable. It will make finding information online a much easier and more enjoyable task!

I passed the NCLEX and this book saved my life!

Hello! I have been a nurse for 4 years but I remember how terribly stressful it was to prepare for the boards!!! Relax, take a deep breath and buy this book! Out of all the books I had this one was the best. It gave you strategies to remember things, it went through each section of nursing that is covered on the boards with clarity (only focusing on really what you need to pass) and it had questions that most resembled those that were on the NCLEX. It also has a great section on all the pharmocology that you need to know. Every time that I meet someone who is about to take the boards I recommend this book. As I said, it saved my life!!!!

The best I have seen.

I took his NCLEX review in Boston, and I don't recall that Don mentioned this book. Needless to say, the five-day class was fine, and he had a handout for the class. But the five day class was way too fast to get it all down on paper, so having this book (I found it in a library) and reviewing all the points at my own pace really works. I wish he had the third edition published so I could use it.

The material for learn is design by way from simple to complex, with many NCLEX-RN style examination questions after each chapter. Plus the material about physiology and mechanism of action is very easy and interestedly to learn. I enjoy from this book.

I use the food prep book in my culinary class in college. It is a very thorough book going over every aspect of cooking. It shows the proper method of cooking techniques with black and white photos of the food. There are lists of recipes from beef to fruit preperation. I recommend this book highly for the beginning culinary student.

Great Resource!

Review Date: 2008-09-15
I got this book on the recommendation of a friend. I love it! It has many of the plants that grow naturally in my own back yard and surrounding area as "weeds". I tried an "infusion" of a gumweed to help with my nightly chest heaviness which leads to horrible coughing. It worked wonderfully! No heaviness or coughing at all, I did not need the inhaler which has been my usually nightly ritual. The information is easy to read and very simplified. I have many herb and natural remedy books, but this one was concise and easy to use. It is very useful for someone wanting to get a remedy from the back yard and fix the problem, rather than going to the health food store and pay an "arm and a leg" for a bottle of something that gets used once or twice and sits on the shelf until you finally just throw it away. This will be a book that we use often.

A+ resource to identify, harvest & use medicinal herbs
Helpful Votes: 14 out of 14 total.
Review Date: 1998-10-01
This is a full-color herbal medicine book which details the complete identification, harvesting and use of 50 common remedies. It includes the medical description (emetic, antibiotic antitussive etc.) as well as the exact manner in which to prepare the herb as medication (tea amounts, preparation of ointments etc.) as well as an emergency usage guide. Harvesting is exact down to the best time of day to pick the herb. As an R.N., I have used a condensed guide to "shepherd" our five children as well as my husband through ailments as common as the common cold and as difficult as Hepatitis B. This book, along with Reader's Digest MAGIC AND MEDICINE OF PLANTS, and with my husband & my background as nurses (and the grace of the good Lord) has made visits to the doctor an almost non-existent item in our busy lives.
