I found this book really helpful, especially the review chapters on each core subject. As I was an Epi major, I had very little knowledge about HPMN and SBS. The theories of SBS and leadership are well explained and covered everything that was asked in the exam - I did not read anything outside the book. Biostatistics is another core which is a major part of the exam. I found all statistical tests and their assumptions - useful from the exam point of view.
However, the practice questions below each chapter are easier than the actual exam. Also, the sample exam is same as the practice questions. There is no option as "All of the above" in the actual CPH exam and so you need to know the exact answer.

For those of you getting ready to crack open the books and study for the SAT's, I suggest reading this book first. I just took the SAT's and found this book, the study tips and practice tests to be very helpful. I also liked the format.

Finding good information on ways to unleash creativity in a spiritual context is easy. Finding a way to sell creativity to businesses is another thing. I particularly liked the way the book encourages you to customize your own training program. In my business I work with a very diverse group of people and businesses which demands that my program also be diverse. I highly recommend this sourcebook.

Why oh Why didn't I read this sooner!

I think this book explains how to analyze the Critical Reasoning part of the GMAT in a very well structured way. I have the Verbal workout from the Princeton Review and it doesn't even cover this topic. The official guide is too general and doesn't explain all the different types of questions that the GMAT asks in the Critical Reasoning part. The Manhattan GMAT preparation guide explains the 6 different types of questions, gives you examples and identifies the types of questions given by the Official guide so you can practice by recognizing the differences. Comparing to other books (Kaplan and Princeton Review) I liked the S-W-Slash chart.

Cons: I bought mistakenly this book I thought I was buying one book from the Manhattan Review, but the purchase was worth every dollar.

Great book!

The devotions in this book are truly inspired by the Holy Spirit. I have been touched and changed due to the inspired writings of the author. The devotions are written as spoken to her from the Holy Spirit, the love and tender heartedness from the Holy Spirit pierces even the harden of hearts. Great Gift for family and friends who seek a closer walk with the Lord.

I would give five stars to the authors John and Susan Midgley. The chapters are very short and easy to read and very much to the point. The His and Hers questions pages do stimulate easy discussion between couples and I have had many positive remarks from my wedding couples. I describe this workbook as an aid to communications which does allow the couple to learn more about each other in a painless way. I use this book because I do not require a marriage prep course and because many people do not want to or cannot for one reason or another attend Pre-Cana meetings. I hope this book is restocked since I will probably be ordering a dozen copies in the near future. If your marrying or just married or participating in a pre-marriage program, this book will augment any other materials nicely.

This book was required for the pre-marriage program my husband and I took prior to our marriage. Although many of the questions in this book are those which you talk about prior to marriage, some were presented in ways we had never looked at before. The book is divided into a number of sections. Each section has a write up, as well as a his and her page to fill out and discuss. There is then general questions to discuss with each other and within the pre-marriage group. We spent a lot of time talking about the topics brought up in the book. Although we did not learn much more than we already knew, the discussions helped to reinforce our choice to get married. I would highly recommend this book to any couple whether engaged or married.

I am currently a third year med student planning to go into emergency medicine. I picked up this book from a friend who already did a EM clerkship and highly recommended it. I wanted something to read before I do my EM audition rotation in June. It is the same format as the recall series which I like alot. Overall, I think this is a great book for bread-n-butter EM topics your bound to hit such as chest pain. I think this book is pretty comprehensive and an easy read. It contains some very nice useful charts like the NIH stroke scale and a toxidrome chart. I've gotten via half of it and definitely recommend it. I do notice it was light on the ortho stuff, something that hopefully will be fixed if they do a second edition. A big plus if your doing any EM rotation or week.

Excellent review book for any emergency medicine clerkship

Reviewer: Fourth medical student going into emergency medicine

Overview: Deja Review EM is a question/answer book much like the very popular First aid series or Recall series. It is similar to the First aid series except this particular one has sections of brief, but high yield clinical vignettes that I thought were particular useful and some nice charts.

Positive:
1. It was packed with very high-yield questions, all bread-n-butter EM topics that attendings I worked with asked me.
2. Charts: It contained very useful charts I used a lot such as a tox antidote chart, toxidrome chart, and NIH stroke scale that was easy to refer to.
3. Clinical Vignettes: Short brief basic scenarios that one would normally see in the ED with brief diagnosis that was also very good to read.
4. Short and to the point: Much as I wanted to read Rosen's or Tin, I had little time to do that type of reading. I really needed a book that had sort of "just the facts" information for quick reference and something I can read in bursts like when I am in the bathroom.
5. Pretty small compare to other review books and would carry it with me on the wards.
6. Very well-organized by systems which I am use to.

Negatives:
1. I think the thing that makes the book so useful on the EM clerkship can be a negative. Since it is just Q/A format, it does not have pathophysio that may be important to know, but if I needed to know that I would just use a major text.
2. I think the organ-based system is great, but I know some books out there use more of a complaint-based approach much in the way you would see a patient is. Some people prefer this method of learning which is totally fine, if that is the case, the system-approach of this book may not be the best for you.

Overall:
I honestly thought this book was an excellent read that was fast to read and very high-yield. I do really felt it helped me immensely on my EM clerkship as I could quickly look via it after I saw a patient. My clerkship was a good experience and my attendings actually encouraged me to look things up after I saw a patient. I know not all clerkships work this way. I also choice this book since it seems to be really new, I think it came out a week before my rotation. I also used Recall, which I thought was good, but a little too dense. Anyways, I highly recommend this book to anyone doing an EM clerkship.

A New Edition on a great Medical Book

I knew this book from previous editions that I had found in Libraries. I decided to buy this Edition. Still follows the Anatomy and Physiology type of organization of previous editions. The Physiopathological approach to the Physical Exam and the Syndromes discussed in the Text, makes easier to understand and keep available in our memory the information learned in this text. The New Editor comments on the possibility that maybe Neurological Exam could become obsolete, I still think that despite the prodigious Technological armamentarium that we have, the ERRORS in Diagnosis are committed not because of a test not ordered, but because a poor History and Physical Exam. This Text will keep us in track to do good Neurological Examinations.

Clear pictures. Organized by clinical specimiin, then by organism (Sputum: yeast, G+, G-, GV, etc), which works very well. Keep this one next to you at the scope. It especially helped me in reading my poorly stained smears.

This book is a concise and well-organized collection of excellent photomicrographs. As a student of clinical microbiology, this atlas has helped to reinforce my ability to discern subtle detail in gram stain interpretation. It is a handy little book and a good reference for bench work.
