I purchased this at the beginning of my radiography program. I'm getting ready to graduate in 7 months and have been using them for tests in positioning as well as patient care. These cards have multiple questions on one card and are color-coded for each section covered by the ARRT registry. I also recommend Lange Q&A by D.A.Saia for registry review.Lange Q&A - Radiography Examination (Lange Q&A Series (formerly Appleton and Lange's Review Series)

Reading Comprehension is one of the most difficult areas to improve in a short time for the GMAT. If you are not getting good scores in this section and if you've not been a life long reader, then it is not easy to improve your score - it will take hard work and a lot of practice, and probably the Manhattan GMAT RC guide.

This book is definitely one of the best out there for this section. The book offers some radically new tricks and tips to better attack this section (I ended up using a few of them and they were very helpful) and it also has a bunch of practice passages apart from pointers to practice passages from the Official Guide.

I will be reviewing other ManhattanGMAT Prep books individually but here's what I have to say about the entire series - buy them all, it will cost you less than 150 dollars and believe me, it will be money well spent (I scored 760 on my GMAT last month).

A Gem of a Guide to a Good Death

I LOVE this book! Barbara Karnes, RN, reminds us that death is not a medical event but a normal, natural social event. It doesn't have to be the ordeal most people dread. With accurate information and adequate support, dying can be a rich, rewarding family experience.

Karnes also wrote the invaluable pamphlet "Gone from My Sight," which some hospices give to families of dying patients. This more recent book includes moving stories from the author's own longtime hospice experience, descriptions of the deaths of her own parents, and much more.

This nurse provides detailed, deeply reassuring information about how we die. For example, she explains the 3 areas--food, sleep, and social interaction--that let one know whether a person has weeks, days, or hours to live. She cautions against the practice of hydrating a person near death, reminding us that dehydration is "nature's anesthetic." She also recommends against using a suction machine, since it usually irritates the throat and triggers the body to produce more secretions. There are better ways to keep a person comfortable.

Karnes sees dying as an opportunity to address any unfinished business, to live in the present, and to say goodbye. But she goes beyond the tools and attitudes that can help a patient and caregivers experience a gentle, peaceful, natural death. She also explains what to do afterwards. For example washing the body and allowing people to view the body can help the grieving process. Additionally, she discusses legal questions and stresses the importance of having an advanced health care directive.

I can't imagine anyone I'd rather have as a hospice nurse than the knowledgeable, no-nonsense, compassionate Barbara Karnes. This little book is a gem!

This book is the 101 of end of life issues. Barbara Karnes covers it all in this book. It's informative like a text book yet easy to read. I found the stages of dying very helpful along with her ideas on grieving, how men and women grieve differently. Loved her personal stories, they made a very informative book more heartfelt.

I love this book. I used Robbins before but it seems like it highlights a lot of research info than true pathology. Rubin is very illustrative, simple to understand, and straight forward. It's all a matter of preferences. I'm very visual and a very graphic book is excellent for me than a thousand words.

Excellence in basic pathology

This book is clearly the best for learning the basics in this field. As already written, it takes a while to understand the content but works excellent as a reference.

If You have a 8 week course and decide to be the best student, You may have to put no less than 10-12h on studies each day including repeated reading. Which of course, in the long run, demands a lot of energy even if You decide to skip classes. It is, unfortunately, one thing to understand the content while You read, it is a complete different thing to have all the names, patterns, details, text boxes recalled on demand to a molecular level and still not get lost in all the data. One good method I recommend is taking key notes for concepts, names on enzymes, transcription factors and important genes while studying. (Even if all You will get in the end is some stupid names memorized it actually makes the book a lot easier to learn. It is just the way the mind works).

Remember that having a good memory requires sleep!
Some people are genius, I am probably not one of them ;-)

Great for reference, too much for a single course

Simply put, this is the end-all be-all when it comes to pathologic analysis of disease states. Typically this is for 2nd year Medical School Students and/or Pathology trainees. Unless you are going into pathology as a sub-discipline, you may be overloaded with this information. If you want a concise primer on all things pathology, look into "Essential Pathology" by Rubin, which is intended as a summary of the 4th edition seen here. Of note is that the Essential Pathology does not include the CD-Rom that comes with this book, which is the best pictorial-based review I've ever seen -- worth the cost of the book alone!

To expand, IF PRESSED ON TIME, DON'T GET THIS ONE! If you are willing to spend the time and effort required for a HUGE book like this (over several semesters), your money will be well spent. As a book itself, this one has 5 stars easily; as a text for a course, I'd give 4 1/2, only for the overabundance of information for a short period of time.

I have had Dr. Rubin in classes (and some courses using the same text but with other Thomas Jefferson University professors), and the man is a genius in the field. This is just one student's opinion, so take it with a grain of salt, but I mention this only to describe the wealth, if not overabundance, of information contained within this book.

I homeschool, and was concerned at the end of the year whether or not my kids were up to grade level. This booklet was great - it helped me identify any weak areas (thank goodness there weren't many). By the time my kids took the end of year test they were confident (so was I) and were able to breeze through without any nervousness or fear. I highly recommend this book regardless of where your kids are schooled...it will really help in the confidence area.

I am currently using this disc to study for the RCIS exam and am finding it to be an outstanding tool. The amount of information on the disc on the wide variety of subjects more than makes up for the cost; you could easily spend 4 or 5 times that amount on the various books listed as references in order to get the same amount of necessary knowledge. The graphics and various games and tests are not only a great way to judge your comprehension of the material, but they actually make studying fun. I highly recommend this disc to anyone studying for the various interventional examination or as a great way to bone up on this type of material.

This CD makes studying for the RCIS exam fun! And it's fast. I can scan hundreds of questions in an hour.

The CD appears to be professionally done, with color graphics, sound effects, different types and levels of questions, and sophisticated scoring and saving routines. One hardly knows that these are the same questions that are in Todd's acclaimed review books - they appear so much more colorful and interactive.

Although it is designed to award CEU credits upon completion of a chapter they do not appear to be available yet. Perhaps after the nursing organizations see how educational one of these chapters is this Todd will get this worked out.

If you want to learn about PC, this is the book for you. Have you ever gotten the dreaded blue screen of death in Windows, which could be an exception error or a Windows Stop error. This book will explain what these errors are and how to troubleshoot them. Besides going over DOS, Windows 9x, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP, this book gives you an easy to understand yet thorough understanding of hardware and software and how to troubleshoot problems with both. It also explains the differences between all of the processors produced by Intel and AMD and explains the differences between all of the different types of RAM. In addition, if you want to pursue the A+ certification, this book has everything for you to take and successfully pass the exams and help you find the job that you want.

As you probably already know, the PC market is a fast paced, fast changing arena. The only way to succeed in this career field is to learn the basic concepts of the PC (hardware and software), apply those concepts in a real-world situation and be willing to retrain yourself often through out your career. Therefore, as a college teacher for many years and working as a PC support/network administrator person for a local college, a city hall, a computer company and a chip manufacturer, I am able to share my experiences in a way that you can quickly and easily learn the material so that you can pass the A+ PC Technician exam, get a job as PC technician and to successful troubleshoot PC problems.

Each chapter is written in an easy to read format with many pictures. To keep you updated today's issues and to show you where you can get help in troubleshooting today's PC problems, I have included many useful Internet links and have include many real-world examples. At the end of each chapter, you will find review questions to help focus your efforts and prepare for the A+ exam and hands-on exercises to reinforce and apply what you have just read about. At the end of book there are several appendix for quick reference and a handy glossary.

For now, I would like to say good luck on your current and future endeavors and I thank you for considering purchasing my book.

Okay you want to learn more about computers and how to troubleshoot them. You eventually want you're A+ certification, and you think you need to buy to book in order to do this, right? Wrong, Prentice Hall has just combine the two and Troubleshooting the PC is that answer.

Covering all aspects of the technician's world, from the sound card and modem to the memory and ports to the video and storage, as well as the operating systems from DOS, Windows 3.x, 95, 98 and NT workstation, the book is great reference. Best of all it is written to the A+ specifications.

The books includes questions, hands-on exercises, figures, tables, pictures and over 650 A+ questions. You also get appendices for A+ Objectives, Binary number conversions, POST Error codes and operating systems error codes, a virtual plethora of computer information.

The author includes a detailed glossary; about the only thing that was missing was the "standard" cd-rom with A+ questions and software utilities. Overall I was very impressed with the depth of information and the author's ability to uncomplicated the breakdown of the information.

If you want to fix computers, this is it.

This is the best book that you will find if you want to learn how to fix computers (including motherboard problems, harddrive problems, sound cards and Windows problems) or prepare for the A+ Exam. I found it very helpful in troubleshooting a some of my friends computers and it had information that was not included in many other computer troubleshooting books. In addition, I found the book was easy to understand, it imparted a lot of 'real-world' experience and had lots of examples. Lastly, I think it gave me a good foundation, not to mention some confidence, to pursue my MSCE certification. I strongly recommend this book and is well worth the money.

I just recently purchased the Wisebridge Learning Systems Physics Flashcards and they are absolutely great. These cards beat any other physics flashcards on the market. I highly recommend them to anyone either taking physics classes or preparing for the MCAT. I have my B.S. in physics and I wish the cards had been available when I was studying physics. The cards don't just have you memorize a bunch of facts but instead they help you to actually think about physics. These cards are great!

These cards identify the critical concepts and present them beautifully-- they are concise without leaving out any relevant information. Subjects are divided into sections (easily distinguished by blue title cards) and a few examples are given for each subject. Excellent for any introductory physics class as well as for MCAT preparation.

I usually don't write reviews, but I'm deciding to do so because I'm really happy with these cards and had a positive experience dealing with the company that sells these (I bought these directly from them).

It's pretty clear that a lot of work went into making them, and 1000 cards is a good deal for the money. The cards really help you to iron out the concepts and does a good job integrating several topics already discussed to help you create a larger picture of what you're trying to jam into your head. It describes most things in terms of the theory behind it, which, judging by practice tests, is way more important for the MCAT than doing a ton of calculations that prep companies tend to make you do.

Anyway, there are pictures for every card, very thorough descriptions on the back of each card, and well tips at the bottom of each card that describes what typically goes on comprehensive exams. The topics are spread out nicely and each topic has a blue summary card that separates it from the other cards. Each topic has around

One downside to these cards is that the cards are jumbled together, and if you happen to drop the cards on the floor it'll take a lot of effort to put them back in order.

The cards are designed for MCAT prep, but I don't see why they can't be used for AP Tests either. I feel pretty prepared for the MCAT this August.

Highly recommended (and no, I'm not on the company's payroll)
