This book is thorough, in-depth data on the companies of the midcap sector. Having an independent evaluator (not the brokerage inbred stock analysts) discuss and provide not only buy/sell/hold rankings but also give fair values is priceless! The scope of companies covered is vast, and the reviews are extensive and well written. The only down side is fair values, current rankings are a few months out of date, because publishing is not instantaneous. However, this is a good background book, and I like to have a hard copy to thumb thru on those snowed in days. I recommend this book highly along with the s+p 500 large cap and the s+p 600 small cap books. They are all excellent starting places for the independent investor. I subscribe to the standard and poors "personal wealth" on the internet for 9 dollars a month for current reviews/ recommendations.

My friend let me read this book in class,and it was great.It teaches you alot.I highly reccomend it!

I got this for a gift for my mom, with whom I share a long history of travels both on and to the sea including some terrific lighthouses on the North Carolina coast. Her health and age plus my role as mommy do not allow us to do much travelling anymore, so this gift was meant to be of special significance, standing in for those dream trips we always say we are going to take someday even though we both know that day may never come. She just loved this book, especially the beautiful photographs. Neither one of us had ever heard of lighthouses that were now available for tourist lodging. Now we are planning that next trip in earnest because we have something concrete to look at along with helpful info and contact details. We still may never get to go, but our fantasizing has become more fun and exciting. For that gift to both of us, I am deeply grateful.

So my daughter wanted to study abroad her junior year of college... She was a Spanish major, and was looking for the right program in a Spanish-speaking country.

By looking through all the various programs in this book, she was able to find a program that offered her a very significant immersion experience... one that offered living with a family (vs. in the dorm w/ other US students), mainstreamed coursework in Spanish at a local university (vs. special courses for US students), an internship with a local organization (vs. coursework-only programs), and an full academic year experience (vs. a single semester).

My daughter is currently finishing her junior academic year abroad. It has been an excellent experience for her. Being able to find the right program was worth much more the price of the book. This was an excellent investment on my part.

I bought this book when I worked as a study abroad advisor at a small, liberal arts college. It's very easy to navigate and quite comprehensive. I used it quite often when students would stump me with a question, like "Where can I study science in Iceland?"

It's a bit overkill if you are simply a student looking to explore your study abroad options.

All you need is to be pointed in the right direction. This book does more than that.
This is France for the adventurous.
I tried it myself and wont look back.

If you're looking for a big, generalized guide for viewing an assortment of summer opportunities for your child, this is the best guide available. However, I found "Early College Programs" to be a far superior guide for reviewing summer opportunities for my college-bound teen.
