This book proves again that the worth of a book is not by its weight, but by its content. This book is certainly much, much better than "Hononrs Programs and Colleges" published by Thomson and Peterson's.

This book selects the best 55 out of all the honors programs at the public universities nationwide. This guide gives an analysis for each honors program, which you will not find in any other books. Furthermore, it ranks these 55 honors programs. This gives students and parents a very good way to choose among the programs.

Indeed, some of these programs provide education as good as Ivy League's. Overall, I highly recommend this book as one of the must-have's college guides.

An earlier edition of Jeff Herman's book changed my life! I found a great agent in it and now I have had nearly 17 books published, most of which have been since I was accepted by my first agent, Bert Holtje (now retired) whose name I found in Jeff Herman. This is a book written by a literary agent and gives us all the inside scoop on what individual literary agents are seeking. Most of the worthwhile publishers these days only take agented books, and any sensible author nowadays has an agent. This is the best book by far for those wanting an agent, and as someone whose publishing life has been changed by it I cannot recommend it too highly to my fellow authors! The Kali Guide is a very highly recommended resource and a core addition to personal, academic, and community Self-Help, Women's Studies, and Women's Issues reference collections.

AGAIN A WONDERFULL BOOK BY KAPLAN A MUST TO BUY !!! SEZALLO

For the person who have no idea what colleges they go to, and what to look for in colleges. The book guides you through with a self-assessment survey in the beginning that allows you to prioritize between preferences you may have for colleges.

The most useful part of the book, however, is the catagorized colleges. Unlike other books that list colleges by state or alphabetic order, this book lists the "brain" colleges, the liberal arts colleges, the "specialized" colleges. This allows me to find colleges that are similar to the ones they are interested in.

Also gives significant insights into the colleges with long and informative commentaries on each of the profiled colleges.

Also includes a section on the admissions process itself.

The only shortcoming is the fact that not too many colleges are included, but the ones that are are amazingly done.

I spent an entire junior year trying to choose colleges. This book did the job in a few hours.

I wish I had a book like this when I was trying to select a college 20 years ago. I work at a high school and advise students on college selection. So many of them have no idea how to pick a college. They often end up picking colleges based on hearsay or rumor. College guides allow students to conduct objective research on a large number of schools. Kaplan also has a college guide for African American students that is also a great resource. It is called "The DayStar Guide to Colleges for African American Students". I highly recommend both books!

This is an excellent guide, with information on over 1,000 schools. The information is the kind you really need, like application requirements and how much financial aid the school gives. It's also pretty interesting to read the campus profiles to get a feel for the different colleges. What was helpful to me was being able to see how my board scores stacked up against other students who got into the various schools--I applied to some schools I didn't think I'd get into, and got financial aid at my first choice. I thought the comments from the guidance counselors were fun, and I like reading their top choices.

This book beat the other guides cold for completeness and usefulness to me. I recommend it to any junior or senior starting to research college applications.

Every community should be lucky enough to have one of these! Chock full of information and resources for parents in Westchester County, NY. Where to get croupe meds at 2 a.m., fun parks, free activities, drama, daycare, etc. etc. etc. For parents - kids of all ages.
