While most books focus solely on numbers and statistics, this book gives you a behind-the-scenes picture of what the school is really like: how hard the professors are, what the students are like, what the school looks for in an applicant, etc.

I actually only wanted to check one of the top fifteen schools in the book, but I ended reading on most of the schools. This book will likely be appreciated by those who are thinking about, are attending, or have already attended one of the institutions in this book. But some may find it quite interesting to read about Harvard Law students, and how the school is different from what many would imagine it to be -- like who knew that some third year Harvard Law students don't attend classes?

I'd recommend this book specifically for those who are planning to apply to those top law schools. For everyone else, you might want to check your local library or bookstore before you purchase this item (as you'll likely skim or read only the school you are interested in).

** Note: Although the book was published over a decade ago, I found most of the material still relevant. However, most of the details will likely be obsolete in a few years.

This reference book without a doubt is the final word in researching artwork history and sales records. When you've exhauseted research efforts in all other reference guides, Davanport's takes over. I feel much safer going to auctions with the knowledge gained from the information found in Davenports. Awesome tool!!

This book is the companion to Sittig's Handbook of Toxic and Hazardous Chemicals and Carcinogens, 4th edition. Hazardous chemicals listed in Sittig are the basis of this book. "This book is intended for chemists, toxicologists, laboratory technicians, manufacturers, safety professionals and government personnel involved in environmental and industrial safety and health matters."

The resource is divided into eight sections. Section 1 is the largest section and takes up half the book. You will find an alphabetical list of hazardous chemicals and their manufacturers names. It also lists the country of the manufacturer if not made in the U.S.

Section 2 (International Directory of Manufacturers of Hazardous Chemicals) is an alphabetical list by country of chemical names and their manufacturer. Each entry includes address, phone, fax, email, and website. It may also include parent company, subsidiaries/affiliates and stock listing.

Sections 3 (International Chemical Industry Organizations), Section 4 (Professional Environmental Health and Industrial Hygiene Organizations) and Section 5 (International Environmental Protection Agencies) are all organized alphabetically by country and list organization or agency name, address, phone, fax, email, and website. Some entries include a brief description of the organization. Only federal agencies are listed for the United Statesin Section 5.

Section 6 (State Environmental, Health and Occupational Safety Agencies) is organized by state or U.S. territory and includes agency name, address, phone, fax, email, and website.

Section 7 lists Hotlines, Databases, and Useful Web Sites. The hotlines appear to be U.S.and Canadian only. Hotline or database name, responsible organization, hotline number, email, website and organization descriptions are listed. Useful websites include those from .com, .edu, .org, and .gov websites. Many of the listed hotlines from federal agencies. Many database listings include contact phone numbers, which is a great feature.

Section 8 (Poison Control Centers) is organized by state and lists organization name, address, emergency phone number or hotline, and the area served. The book also includes an index.

This is an excellent resource. It is very easy to use and includes quality sources. It will serve as a nice jumping point for further research. The Internet already has maintenance and manufacturing directories of installers and vendors; drawings, field modifications, and manuals; e-mail; FAQs; library holdings access; news and user groups; online vendor catalogs; parts information and purchasing; software changes; technical bulletins and help; and used equipment and parts. I am a casual birder, and found this book to be very valuable in increasing my knowledge of birds and birding, not so much for the books content itself, but what it directs you to. It is full of web sites devoted to birds, and gives a review of each site so you don't waste your time going to a site you may not be interested in. It is a valuable resource, not only for beginners, but for the advanced birder as well. I highly recommend it.
