Next best thing to GPS!

These Thomas Guides are the absolute benchmark in major city navigational tools. The next best thing to GPS. The King, Pierce, Snohomish edition is no exception. A must for anyone living in or traveling often to the Seattle area. This book is over 45 dollars at Barnes & Nobels, and at Border's bookstores. The book is very sturdy and extremely detailed. It also comes with a CD-rom so you can access all of the maps and look up addresses on your computer. Amazon.com is definitely the only place you need to look if you're shopping for a Thomas Guide (or anything else for that matter). I live in the state of Washington so the standard (free!) shipping was virtually next day guaranteed.

I purchased this map because we were moving to the Seattle area. Since I had never been to Seattle before, it was a much needed resource.

The map is spiral bound which helps prevent the pages from tearing out, especially when they get a lot of use.

The guide is separated by county, which at first can be confusing if you don't know which county you are in. Still, it has been a wonderful resource and has prevented me from getting lost more than once.

I highly recommend this street guide/directory.

I have absolutely zero natural sense of direction so this guide is perfect in its level of detail. It seems to cover every inch of Portland, including a full street index in the back that makes it easy to locate an address.

I have purchased the Thomas Guides for Portland for the last several years and have found them to be an absolutely indespensible navigational aid. Every street in the metro area and surrounding suburbs is detailed within this guide. Its comprehensive detail and ease of use make it a real help. If you have to drive in Portland even occassionally I cannot recommend strongly enough that you buy this guide.

A Good Navigational Tool

Review Date: 2007-01-10
I decided not to go fancy, and buy a GPS navigation system. However I wanted a reasonably compact map book that I could carry in my truck. I drive mostly in Pierce County. I gave this map book a five because it illustrates all the local roads, and points of interest, at a fine level of detail. I use this all the time to look for shortcuts or to route around traffic jams and construction. Even if I had GPS navigation, I would still keep this book as a backup.

If you're still using paper maps instead of GPS, this one is the one to have. Without a doubt, get the 3 county instead of the single King county map. It's big, but it's effective. Load the free cd in your computer too.

This great expose of the kookiness out there... er, in there, makes for fascinating sociological reading, but most of all, it's amusing! Never knew that there were so many weird conspiracy theories outside the X-files...!

This brilliantly writen book is a must-have for everyone . . . Karl Mamer paints a vivid picture of how kooks and crazies use the web to spread their word. Rich in detail and masterfully created, after reading "The Truth Is In Here", you'll never surf the same way again...

This is a really good book for finding flea markets. Each state is covered (a map shows the state at a glance and the key fleamarket towns shown) and for each flea market it says the town, address & directions to get there, dates/times when its open, cost of admission, features such as typical types of items you'll find there, number of booths, rates if you're a dealer and want to sell at the flea market, contact info and web site if they have one.

Really full - it was neat to see Wellfleet covered in here. When I was little my grandparents (who lived on Cape Cod) would take me there to browse through the stalls - I usually had a small allowance of a dollar or two to spend....thank goodness my allowance is bigger now :)

Anyway, great book, seems to be really complete although I've only gone to a few local flea markets that I can get to.

Definitely recommend this as I haven't found anything else that comes close to being as good

Great book!

Review Date: 2005-10-31
This book is by far the most comprehensive compliation of data available about casinos of the world. Extensive research was employed to create one easy-to-browse resource for anything you might want to know about gaming facilities world-wide. From the number of tables and slots to the type of dress required to what kid-friendly amenities are on hand, this book supplies everything a person would need to know! Helpful for people who are scheduling holidays and would like to know what casinos are located in the areas they're visiting, as well as for those who would like to make sure to hit the "biggest and best," this guide is indispensable. Also included are great "top ten" lists with trivia about casinos that you wouldn't have thought to even wonder about, but are interested to learn after checking out this book.
A must-have for anyone interested in gaming!

Michael Wiesenberg's exhaustively researched book is a superb guide to the casinos of the world. I'm no world traveller, but I've been to some relatively obscure casinos off the beaten track throughout the USA and Europe, and, let me tell you, Mr. Wiesenberg got the facts right on every one.

If you travel and like to gamble, you will find this book indispensable.

This was a very helpful book for contest seeking. It has only one fault, which is it only says whether people from grades 7 through 12 can enter. So, for instance, say their is a contest open to grades K-12, the book would only say 7-12. Other then that, it was thorough, well researched and overall, very, very helpful!

Children love recognition for a job well done. The Ultimate Guide to Student Contests, Grades K-6 lists competitions for a number of academic disciplines open to elementary school students. Although published in 1998, the information is fairly current. Most of the listings provide web sites for further information.

A Lot of Info for a Great Price!
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2000-07-03
This is a great book to keep beside your computer! There is a Christian Communities section which profiles 4 web sites, including crosswalk.com & gospelcom.net. The book is family oriented, and there is a wealth of subjects covered! You can find web sites about many different topics, including art, Bible, career, health (with sections for children's, men's, & women's health), entertainment, games, genealogy, God & theology, homeschooling, "Internet 101," music, science, shopping (yeah! LOL), travel, & women's studies, just to name a few! One neat feature is space to write in your own favorite web sites. There is also an email address included to "submit a site" for future editions of the book. There are safe surfing tips in the front of the book...important for families with children. There are some really good sites that are specifically for kids. Overall, this is a neat book for the entire family and a wonderful value too! A fun and fascinating book for seasoned surfers as well as "newbies"! I highly recommend it!
