AAMBC Book Reviews
Obsessive ExplorationReview Date: 2008-08-21
what a love letter should be, and my amazement that someone wrote an
entire book that contained just one love letter. After reading a few
pages, I shook my head, closed the book and exhaled. Instead, I examined
the appealing cover and studied the lovely drawn woman. Then the
subtitle caught my eye: "The First Step Is Admitting You Have a
Problem.." With a smile, I finally caught the rhythm of this work and
immersed myself in its incredibly, emotional words.
Amanda Easton scripted and published a Spoken Word masterpiece, giving
the reader a glimpse into her soul. She reveals the heart and mind of a
true poetess, a real writer; obsessively enraptured with someone who
barely knows her and certainly doesn't love her. To that, I can
certainly relate, and therein lies the genius of this work. After her
accusations, cloaked in victimization, and her indictments, drenched in
righteous indignation, the truth seeps out. The truth that many of us
face: searching for fulfillment in the idea of love, regardless of the
man we demand love us.
Amanda's Easton's delivery is engaging. Sometimes tumultuous, and
other times downright hilarious, she makes the reader cringe with
embarrassment and laugh out loud at her sarcasm. With clever
metaphors, careful themes and colorful descriptions, this love letter
displays the intimate crevices of the heart. But her truthful
realization is the gem of this emotional collection. She
examines herself with a clarity that most of us avoid, for fear of what
we would see. She discusses how flawed, hurt and possibly unlovable we
really are.
One of my favorite passages of the love letter comes during her
discovery. "And some of us are slightly deranged, Gorgeous girls, Who
give good love, Looking for our Daddy, In every stranger we touch."
This work is very clever, witty, and unflinching. Amanda Easton's THE
LAST LOVE LETTER is simply a classic.

You never forget your 1st loveReview Date: 2008-08-08
I know most women if not all have been in love with someone who could not, would not love us back. I know most of us have been hurt at one point or another to the point where we never thought we would come back from it. I know most of us have loved the wrong man at some point in our lives. This book it that story. Amanda opens up her heart to say all the things went wrong her relationship and more. I give her credit for putting out there for the world to see.
I personally just could not get into this book. I found myself wondering how in GODS name you could love a man for all those years. I mean it seem evident to me he was not interested. This book was like a lot of rambling to me. Like it more of conversation with her self instead of trying to get her point across in a book. I also felt that a lot of trails she went though with this man was more so on her part that the low self esteemed she had for self ALLOWED this man to put her thought the wringer. I felt most of problem begin and ended with her as all the signs were there.
I am happy to see that she did discover some self-love for herself if not entirely for her but for her daughter also. The editing was great. Give her that also.

On the positive side, this book is physically quite attractive. The binder and section dividers feature lovely photographs and I thought the format was promising. The problem, however is in the contents. The author's style is clumsily self-conscious and she doesn't have an original idea.(In all fairness, there is not much new on the Law of Attraction. The trick is in a fresh presentation.) The book is packed with quotations of other people's works and song lyrics. Apparently, the author once ordered one book and another, a book of inspirational quotations, came instead She found this book wonderfully inspirational and each chapter features not just one or two quotes, but sometimes pages of them. Sorry, if I wanted to read Conversations with God I, II and III, The Nature of Personal Reality or any of the others she relies on, I would not have been reading her book. This over reliance on quotes is disruptive and contributes to the careful, term paperish effect.
This book quickly loses focus, jumping wildly from a clunky law of attraction formula to a recitation of the author's traumatic and abusive childhood and journey through different recovery modalities. While I credit her for addressing these challenges, it reads like a bad episode of Dr. Phil. It is somewhat troubling that she disparages the classic twelve step method as it does not fit within the precepts of her message.
The author refers to her higher self as "Angel". If you subscribe to the traditional definition of angels as being messengers of God, you will find his usage jarring.
If you are interested in the law of Attraction, there are many fine books that present it in an accessible manner. You can't go wrong with the classic Dynamic Laws of Prosperity by Catherine Ponder. The Abraham -Hicks materials provide a contemporary look at the law of attraction as do the Attractor Factor by Joe Vitale and Lynne Grabhorn's Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting. Michale Losier's Law of Attraction workbook is simple but effective while The Sedona Method and Larry Crane's Abundance Course are superb tutorials on releasing. If you opt for this offering you will receive a really neat binder and a headache.

An Important Book for AllReview Date: 2005-06-15
Within "A New Beginning", the author discusses the laws of the universe, and how by following these laws, one can achieve the life they want. This book is about how important our thoughts are in creating our experiences, including how they attract certain "types" of people into our lives. Exercises are also included to help you utilize these universal laws to attract those experiences/people that you DO WANT, instead of those you'd like to avoid.
It's shown that we are responsible for EVERYTHING we experience, as we are the creators of our current life experiences - therefore, it no longer makes sense to spend time blaming others for our plight. Instead, we need to figure out where we miscreated, and fix it by creating what we do want instead.
Although everything makes a lot of sense, and I can see how my thoughts have impacted my life, I still have 1 question... and that is re: the horrible experiences that some children go through - I'm uncertain as to how they brought those experiences into their lives. But I feel certain that I'll gain a greater understanding of this as I research the other works by this author further.
As a side note, the information included in this book was obtained through the channeling of ABRAHAM - a group of entities in the non-physical universe - through Esther Hicks.
Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in changing some aspect of their life; those interested in universal laws; and those interested in communications from the other side.
I would also recommend that you read "The Power of Intention" by Wayne Dyer, as this is another excellent book on the power of our thoughts, and how we can literally change our life by changing our thoughts.

As with many other books on the laws of manifesting, this book adequately outlines the universal laws and gives some great insights. What sets it above most of the others is that it provides non-abstract methods to actually apply these laws without alot of the new age lingo. I also really enjoyed its reading format - sometimes the smaller print books can bother the eyes!
Enjoy this fabulous book. I would also definitley recommend A New Beginning II.

I have trouble grabbing the big picture and wrapping my mind around the notion we "choose to return to our physical manifestations". I see handicapped, neglected, homeless people and I wonder if an entity actually chose this?
I recently listened to a recording of one of the Abraham channelings. It was interesting. What exactly does Jerry Hicks do?

again for those wanting to know what the words being said are, it is U.S. Anderson's words. It goes like this:
"I know that I am pure spirit, that I always have been, and that I always will be. There is inside me a place of confidence and quietness and security where all things are known and understood. This is the Universal Mind, God, of which I am a part and which responds to me as I ask of it. This universal mind knows the answer to all of my problems, and even now the answers are speeding their way to me. I needn't struggle for them; I needn't worry or strive for them. When the time comes, the answers will be there. I give my problems to the great mind of God; I let go of them, confident that the correct answers will return to me when they are needed. Through the great law of attraction, everything in life that I need for my work and fulfillment will come to me. It is not necessary that I strain about this, only believe. For in the strength of my belief, my faith will make it so. I see the hand of divine intelligence all about me, in the flower, the tree, the brook, the meadow. I know that the intelligence that created all these things is in me and around me and that I can call upon it for my slightest need. I know that my body is a manifestation of pure spirit and that spirit is perfect; therefore my body is perfect also. I enjoy life, for each day brings a constant demonstration of the power and wonder of the universe and myself. I am confident. I am serene. I am sure. No matter what obstacle or undesirable circumstance crosses my path, I refuse to accept it, for it is nothing but illusion. There can be no obstacle or undesirable circumstance to the mind of God, which is in me, and around me, and serves me now."
there's more to the meditation, this is just the first part, and on this 2nd volume, the words are spoken to you...like "you are pure in spirit, you always have been..."

Magneto's greatest tale ever.Review Date: 2007-01-30
An important chapter in the history of MagnetoReview Date: 2005-11-23
The story is choppy due its determined effort to keep the focus on the leading characters of the titles in which each chapter first appeared in terms of their reaction to the latest (with many more to follow) resurrection of Magneto. Before Magneto make is return public, the Acolytes, mutants who follow (the memory of) Magneto with religious zeal battle X-Factor following their horrific slaughter of hospital patients, and make a failed attempt to draft his son, Quicksilver. The self-styled mutant messiah has developed a god-complex, and seeks to save the uninfected and those he see as worthy mutants from the ravages of the legacy virus unleashed by Stryfe at the end of the X-Cutioners Song story-line. To do this, he has salvaged the Celestial starship that once house Apocalypse, X-Factor and more recently Cable, a sort of improved Asteroid M. A new group of Acolytes is gathered around him, Fabian Cortez's treachery is revealed, and the mysterious and powerful Exodus serves as his herald.
Magneto goes about his quest as self appointed savior of mutant kind and as expected butt heads with the X-Men and all related parties. Several X-Men suffer tremendously at his hands, but in the end Xavier is forced to make a rash decision that will have dire repercussions in the days to come.
Up sides: Magneto took Xavier's role as headmaster of the school for a time, when he had reformed, and mentored the New Mutants. His confrontation with X-Force addresses this major and mostly forgotten piece of X-Men history, as well as addressing the relationship between Cable and the ship that was once his that Magneto claimed for his own. Later, when Magneto crashes Illyana's funeral at the Xavier estate, a long time X-Man and fan favorite turns his back on the X-Men and joins Magneto.
Down sides: The action involving Magneto directly is muted and extremely brief. The effort to bring in every X-Men related title of the day was pretty hit-or-miss; some stories were just brilliant while others seemed forced efforts, at best. Yet the only real problem I have with Fatal Attractions is how Wolverine was tampered with unnecessarily. What he suffered at the hands of Magneto was brutal and innovative (although when it happened I was not too pleased with the tampering in the essential fabric of one of the major X-Men characters) it was just a rehashing of the worn-out thread of making him more savage and blah blah... I think this was about the third or fourth time his humanity was diminished in as many years, and had run its course as an interesting characterization ploy. From a distance and in the context of this collection alone, it's not so bad, but in the overall scheme it's just beating a dead horse. "Its time of year again, Wolverine needs to be more savage!"
Overall, this is a great story, and fans of Magneto will greatly appreciate it, while fans of Wolverine might enjoy it less so. However, it is by far not one of the best X-Men stories out there, and those who are new-commers or not hard core fans will be a little lost as it draws from and bridges several other stories that for the most part do not show up in other collected editions, rather than being self-contained.

Great for Understanding RelationshipsReview Date: 2007-11-23
Because I met my husband first in a dream, before I met him in real life, the subject of soul mates is near and dear to my heart. Is he a soul mate or a twin soul? This is one of the books I consulted when writing about my experiences in When We Were Gods: Insights on Atlantis, Past Lives, Angelic Beings of Light and Spiritual Awakening.
Todeschi also makes it clear that a person may be your soul mate but your relationship is not all heavenly. The both of you are together to learn from each other and to grow spiritually. In addition, you may not have that déjà vu experience, but still, just about everyone you're involved with in this life, you have known before--even the ones who are part of difficult relationships.
I liked how Todeschi explains the Edgar Cayce readings on the intricacies of attraction: both romantic and also the attraction to all the people with whom you've had relationships . . . plus the attraction people feel to you.
Many parents dream about their children before they are born . . . some before the child is conceived. Because this book deals with the interactions between family members in the context of reincarnation, it makes sense that an in-coming soul would communicate with its future parents.
The study of relationships is close to all of our hearts. This is a great book on the topic. It delves more deeply than many others because it takes into account that we are eternal souls and that our present-day relationships are built on many previous lifetimes.

It's a wonderful book, it gives you insights in the couple relationships as much as in other relationships in your life.
I got out of this book a much clearer understanding as to the dinamics of the significant relationships in my life, even as to what is that I have to work out in them.
All of this put in such delightful way that I couldn't put the book down every time I started reading!!!
This book has definetely been of great help to my life!!!
The single best book on soul matesReview Date: 2005-11-13
Until I became familiar with Cayce, I thought the entire idea of a soul mate was laughable. That's because I was under the mis-impression that a soul mate was supposedly one's single and only true love, and my own life experience belied that idea. I know that it is possible to love deeply several, if not many, individuals within a single lifetime, so the idea that there is one and only one person with whom I would be compatible seemed ridiculous. Then I read Cayce and learned that soul mates are far more to each other than romantic lovers. Rather, soul mates help one another move toward spiritual goals. This can just as often manifest as hostility toward one another as romantic love.
Even more important to my understanding of reality, I learned from this book that each of us has many soul mates, which makes sense to me intuitively and explains a lot of odd, sometimes difficult, but always compelling relationships that I have had throughout my life. Todeshi clearly articulates the spiritual principles behind the soul mate phenomenen, and I believe that one can rely on these principles because they came from Edgar Cayce, whose authenticity is heavily documented and whose readings have usually proved correct over time.
If you are not familiar with Edgar Cayce and his readings, I recommend that you pick up some basic books on his work from the ARE, in addition to this book by Todeshi on soul mates. One especially good ARE publication you might want to check out is A Place We Call Home, by Robert Grant, who is another long-time Cacye student.
