Larry Len Peterson's artistic presentation Call Of The Mountains focuses on the artists of Glacier National Park, pairing full-page color reproductions of paintings and ad art with in-depth reviews of the artists' lives and viewpoints. The dual focus on artist inspiration and output makes for a well-rounded title which outlines the beauty of Glacier Park as well as surveying the artists which have captured this beauty on paper.

After WW II, my father left the service and we moved to Beverly, Chicago, Il. Recently, at age 66, I returned. Fortunately other dear friends presented us with this book when we arrived. I read it immediately and thoroughly. I learned ever so much more about my neighborhood and the old pictures are superb. When I walked the neighborhood with some grade school friends; and rode downtown on the METRA, on the old Rock Island roadbed, with the help of this book I noticed and appreciated ever so much more.

My best recommendation - I have already sent 5 copies to friends.

This book received an Award of Merit from the American Society of Landscape Architects Professional Awards Program in 2003.

From the dust cover of this beautiful book to the last pages, readers are treated to beautiful photography, copies of lovely paintings, and a narrative about the history of this unique place on the CA coast. The book is divided into time frames starting in 1917 and continuing to 2001. Each segment gives the reader a glimpse into the recent past, of simplier times and the quest for life on the CA seashore. This book is very readable, a feast for the eyes and one that will join my permanent collection of very special books. Suitable for display as a prized coffee table book.

An incredibly beautiful book if you can find it. Really shows what a special place Death Valley is.

Erwin and Peggy Bauer's Denali provides a stunningly beautiful portrait of the park by two wildlife photographers. An essay describes the park's history but it's the photos which captivate in this small but powerful offering.

My husband had requested this book, and was really pleased with the condition. He had seen it before, and asked me to order it.

This book is primarily a picture book with short decriptions that gives a fascinating look at the world's most famous theme park before it was a park. It's filled with black and white photos of Walt Disney's Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. as it was being constructed along with a few after its opening. The photographer, Mel Kirkpatrick, was given unfettered access through the entire construction of the park and he captured some amazing and unique photos. You'll see Disneyland go from orange tress and mounds of dirt being moved around, right through various stages of construction for some of the famous landmarks such as Sleeping Beauty's Castle and Main Street USA. Some superb aerial shots are included. The captions for the pictures are short and informative with one or two errors, which unless you're a true Disneyland buff you won't notice. For anyone who has ever been to Disneyland and felt the "magic", this is great look into how that magic was constructed.

This is a hardcover book that you could purchase for 1 year, during the 30th Anniversary of Disneyland. Disneyland opened in 1955 so this was for the 1985 anniversary year. It was only sold in the Disneyland Park and not in any stores. Disneyland has been producing a hardcover book every year for some time, and most years there are only slight changes made from the previous years. But when a big Anniversary date comes about every 5 years, they change the title and cover to reflect the special occassion. New attractions and attractions that are under construction are usually shoe-horned into the last few pages each year. Almost no text except for picture captions, the book is made up of full page and half page color photos of attractions, buildings, and people havingfun in the Park. The older ones like this one are getting harder to find.
