ABSOLUTELY A MUST HAVE FOR ORLANDO VISITORS!

I've traveled to Orlando at least once a year for the last 7 years and while I've been anxious to explore outside of Walt Disney World I've never had the courage to "risk" my vacaction by spending the time and money to explore some of the lesser known attractions. Time and again I tried to find out more about some of the other available theme parks, but aside from quick write-ups in Disney centered books, there was nothing to be found. This book has been the answer to my prayers! It's well written, extremely detailed and provides the in depth coverage seasoned Disney veterans are used to seeing about the Disney attractions. I am now ready to make informed decisions about the other attractions in the Orlando area, and have in fact booked my next trip with many of these "alternate" parks on my itinerary. I read this book from cover to cover and it has made me as excited about visiting Orlando as I was before my very first trip!

This was the most informative and entertaining book I've ever read, as far a travel guides go. These types of books are usully so dry and boring you lose interest. This one is quite humerous, along with being full of invaluable tips to navagate the different theme parks. If you take the time to incorporate the authors advice, you will be able to experience most all of the attractions with minimal waiting in line. Lets face it poeple pay alot of money for these types of trips and to spend hours waiting in line is insane. This book will truly enhance your entire experience. Highly recommend!

An enjoyable little book on trips to the Grand Canyon

I wasn't expecting much from this book so I was pleasantly surprised. I was afraid the funny stories would turn out to not translate well to text ("Well, I guess you had to be there"). The book is fun light reading, interspersed with casual discussion of the geology and formation of Grand Canyon layers and the canyon itself, and of the Anasazi who lived there and the artifacts that remain. Not to give any spoilers, but the sketch and story from the chapter titled "From Here You Can Be Seen Forever" is a hoot, as are the stories of hapless newbie hikers carting along everything from canned foods to crowbars to a hair dryer. ;-)
Makes me look forward to taking a tour with ICR someday. I've known a couple who visited Mt. St. Helens with them and they really enjoyed it.

Save time; take better vacation snapshots

Gustav Verderber was right on the money about everything in this book. If you only have a week to explore, save yourself some time and follow his instructions. He has mapped out when the rainbows appear on the falls, gives advice on where to photograph wildlife. Some of the trails he mentions in his book have since been closed due to erosion or wildlife management but if you talk with the Park Ranger Service (not Xanterra!) you should be able to find a comparable walk to capture the images.
The book may be beneath the experienced photographer but for an amateur who just wants better vacation photos and does not have the luxury to spend a year in the park getting them, this is the perfect guide!

I truly enjoyed the pristine and perceptive photography combined with the accompanying narrative. This is a work of substance and a good companion for one planning a visit to this location. If one cannot visit in person, I highly recommend visiting via this outstanding publication. Mr. Raventon and Mr. Horsted are to be commended for their contribution to capturing this piece of the natural history of this fascinating area.

Rocky Mountain is difficult to capture on film because the beauty is beyond my simple digital. Every time I visit the scenery changes colors with the season and time of day. The author manages to capture the essence of the park in his photos. This is a good book to collect.

This is a thoroughly beautiful book, and it's unfortunate that it has gone out of print. One expects John Fielder's landscapes to be spectacular, and they are. I especially enjoyed seeing his takes on scenes that I was familiar with and had photographed myself. The surprise is the turn-of-the-century photos by Enos Mills, who almost single-handedly got the park established, and achieved wonderful results with his primitive camera (shown in one picture). Mills' writings are also fascinating, even more so than T.J. Barron's rather new-age musings. Well worth searching out, if you love Rocky Mountain National Park, or mountain photography in general.

Since I got married, the birthdays (and other special days) have come at us fast and in force. For these reasons, we have been late on more than one special day. So, this calendar is a real life-saver. It can be used year-after-year, and it allows you to stay on top of all the special days that come around in the year. My wife has been wanting one of these for some time. By the reaction I got when I gave this to her, I would have thought I had just given her five dozen real roses and not just a calendar with pictures of them! BTW, the roses pictured in this calendar are beautiful, but the beauty to me is that we can finally keep track of all these special days!
