I am a big fan of Cedar Point and this book tells the history all the way back to before the amusement era. The roller coaster capitol of the world started as a small amusement park with just a water slide and this book plots it's history through the beginning, the depression, the 50's and 60's all the way up to the 90's. It's so interesting to find out the history of some of the most popular amusement parks and this one is one of the best I've ever read.

If you love Cedar Point, this book will give you everything that you should know to be a first class fan of the park. Dating back to the times of the geological formation of CP, to it's present fame, "The Queen of American Watering Places" is an indepth look at the good, bad, and amazing facts of CP that most people probably never knew. There are also some things that happened at CP that may shock you, but you must read this book to find them out for yourself.

This is a great read for any Cedar Point fan. It provides a great look at what Cedar Point was like in its early years. Written in a fun style with many detailed descriptions of rides and attractions of the time. This is definitely a must read for any Cedar Point fan.

The most fun Cedar Point book to read.

This book is written from the point of view of a visitor to Cedar Point in the year 1935. It tells about the rides, games, and attractions that they had then. It gives an in-depth focus on a single time at The Point, while the other books focus on the entire history, making this one more detailed. If you're interested in CP history, read this book!

I cannot say enough about how wonderful this novel is! The characters in this book are people much like those that many of us know in our everyday lives. The main character, Darcy, is inspiring. This book was so compelling that I read it in its entirety in one sitting. I came away not only having read a fascinating and gripping story, but with a renewed desire to follow the example of the main character and be strong enough to make good decisions in my personal life. I read this a number of years ago as a teenager and have never forgotten the powerful impression this book left on me. In my opinion, Clair Poulson is one of the finest LDS authors being published today.

I have been a fan of the American Civil War for over five years, and I have read many books on the subject and especially on Stonewall Jackson. I have never found a book more thorough about both subjects in my life. The author dives into several contravercies like: Why did the Civil War started, Did Stonewall fall asleep at the Seven day Battle? He also doesn't just stick to Stonewall, he also talks about other important figures in the Civil War. So if you are interested, kinda like, or a fanatic about Civil War and Stonewall Jackson like I am, I would recammend this book to every one!

This is a good, but minimal, book looking at Cedar Point's history. It is like a condensed version of Cedar Point: Queen of America's Watering Places. A nice slim volume which has nothing recent in it. Good for collectors and those who want a quick glimpse at the early history of CP. Queen is an overall better volume, even though it too is dated.

Having gone to Cedar Point with my parents as a child every summer, and having taken my children when the time came, I was very dissapointed to see the "modern " changes that are there now. This book brings back all the memories I have cherished over the years. The pictures are extensive and touches on all the things that made Cedar Point, Cedar Point. It was wonderfull to see the Point as it was when my father went there as a young single man.Alltogether an extensive and wonderful look at Cerar Point over the years.

This is the fourth book in Deb Macomber's Cedar Cove series starts us in B&B with Bob and Peggy trying to solve the mystery of the murder of one of Bob's old war buddies. Much like all of Deb's books this fourth book is loaded with side plots and wonderfully developed characters. We're given the odd couple of story with the Griffins - a newly wed couple. Well, now that I think about it, most of the sub plots revolve around marriage. So just sit back and enjoy the wonderful little town of Cedar Cove.

WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THIS BOOK?
I READ IT IN A DAY AND A HALF. NEVER IN MY WILDEST DREAMS WOULD I ENJOY A "ROMANCE" NOVEL BUT THIS IS BETTER THAN THE LAST.
THE WAY THE AUTHOR INTRODUCES THE CHARACTERS YOU FEEL YOU KNOW THEM. SHE IS AN INCREDIBLE STORY TELLER.
JUST READ AND ENJOY.

A Little Too Much Repetition
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-09-16
There just seemed to be too much rehashing of the previous books. If you have been reading this series from the beginning you already knew what Macomber was telling you in the first third of this book.

Cranberry Point finally ties up the story behind Max Russell and why he died at the B&B. Marriages and babies abound and a couple new love interests are sparked. And who would have thought that a dog and bachelor auction would ignite so much.

Besides the repeating of old stories lines, this book hit me a little wrong with the tone of voice of many of the women. I just wish that they didn't sound so whiney and unsure of themselves. Even Olivia, the judge, sounds whiney and at times pathetic. Macomber needs to get back on track and give these women some more strength and backbone.

Amy Barlett's life is at an all-time low as she leaves Houston after a heart-breaking divorce and heads for the Texas Hill Country where she hopes to make a new start. She rents a house from Jake Hanson and vows not to become involved with him or any other man because of an infertility diagnosis she has received from her doctor. She figures that if that problem broke up her first marriage, it might do the same to any subsequent relationships. Amy is befriended by Lollie Martin, a pastor's wife, who sees that Amy's spiritual life is off track as well as other aspects of her life. The rest of the book relates the healing of Amy's spiritual life which parallels her ability to form new relationships in her life. This is author LeBlanc's first book in the Cedar Point Series and reveals a good writing style in a pleasant genre.

I don't want to be too harsh here. I wanted a list and description of every ride at Cedar Point. I now have it. However, the writing is not very good. I got the feeling that this project might have started out as a high school term paper from a straight C student. There are numerous typos, numerous grammatical errors and some really odd sentence structure. The author just doesn't have a great command of the English language. I could probably cite at least one example of bad writing from every single page of this book, but again, I don't want to be too harsh. This is the 3rd edition of this book. If there's a fourth the author should do himself a favor and find a good editor.

The book was somewhat informative on each individual ride but it did not spend enough time on lodging and restaurants. Also, the information given in the book was from 2002. The book states that Cedar Point boasts 13 roller coasters. In fact, they now have 17. Because the book is so dated, the estimated prices given in the budgeting section are not even close. If you read this book and use the budgeting section as a guide, you'll fall over backwards when you actually call to make your reservation. For these reasons, I can not recommend this book.

This book is writen with the language of a child. It does make the book easy to understand overall but also makes the reading of it a little annoying. I found little of the book interesting or helpful, most of the book's information was not at all helpful to someone who has visited CP before. this book would be perfect for children before their first trip to the point.
