After seeing this Pixar short before the movie, Wall-E, I was so happy to see that it was made into a Little Golden Book.
I purchased this for my 2-year-old son and he loves it. He grabs it form his pile of books often. It's a funny story with
lots of slapstick!

I really liked this book. I love Disney, and I own all these books except for the three newest ones. This book is as good
as the others, and it's one book I will read over and over again:-)

My 2+ daughter LOVES these books. She even likes the packaging. She takes them out of the box and puts them back over and
over. Each book goes in the spot that matches the flower color. Woe is he/she who puts the wrong book in the wrong place!
The books tell the basic story of each character - Snow White, Ariel, Belle, and Cinderella - without the "intensity" that
accompany some of the movies. These books are a great substitute. Be prepared to read them again and again. Of course,
they all live happily ever after.

Horatian satire at its best (just don't tell Disney)
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 10 total.

Review Date: 1997-12-27
This novel is a wonderfully luminous satire of American corporate shenanigans. The best-drawn satiric targets in this gallery
are Howard Johnson, ice cream and hotel entrepreneur, and good old Uncle Walt Disney himself. This is not the Walt of "Hollywood's
Dark Prince" to be sure, but it probably isn't the vision that the company that bears his name would necessarily want you
to have, either. Walt comes off as an aloof visionary, the sort of absent-minded, kind-hearted genius that you might expect
to find wandering about town, head in the air to admire the architecture while falling into open manholes. Leave it to his
brother Roy (renamed Will here) to be the arch-capitalist pragmatist. Howard Johnson, on the other hand, is a visionary capitalist
god, brimming with Zen energy. When Johnson surveys a map of the U.S., stippled with little orange dots to denote up-and-running
HoJo Inns, and declares that "it is good", you might be tempted to accuse Apple of blasphemy, but you'd be missing the point.
The novel is rife with satire on the American way, always witty, and never bitter. The prose is elegant and imagistic throughout,
conjuring for the reader slick visions of contemporary Americana. The final image is among the most grotesque you're likely
to find this side of Stephen King, but there's an awesome, glowing wonder about it that makes it unforgettable and surprisingly
appropriate for a work that works very hard to avoid muckraking satire by holding onto a consistently light tone. It compares
favorably with the best of Horace, the noble Roman whose name is synonymous with this brand of gentle satire, and it's a shame
that Apple's works are not widely known. It's probably good for him, however, because it's doubtful Disney would have paid
him a single cent for scripting the movie version of "Roommates" if they knew what Max had done with their founder! Highly
recommended!

This CD has some of the greatest pop songs ever sung. Songs like Oh Aaron, Kids in America, Kryptonite, and others make another
plus to this wonderful CD. I listened to this CD a lot until I could memorize every verse, and it was never boring. Radio
Disney Jams Volume 5 deserves a place way above the Kids Bop CDs. Everyone should buy this CD without borrowing it. This CD
is guaranteed better than Radio Disney Jams Volume 1 and 2.

on the page. Other read along books have not done this, I think the music made the difference.

Full of that beautiful prose that has one foot in the Victorian era and one in the modern, Pop-Up Mickey Mouse is a delight to read. It is also a welcome change from the watered-down language now peddled to little ones and will stimulate verbal and aesthetic growth with passages such as --
"Minnie carefully adjusted her skirts, and very gently pressed her fingers upon the keys of the great steam organ. A thundering cataract of sound boomed and shrieked and whistled across the fields right into the face of the rising, sleepy sun which paused, startled, for an instant, its chin resting on the horizon of the world."
They just don't write 'em like that anymore!!!
Today's parents may be taken aback by the sophisticated syntax, but it helps to remember that way back when, authors respected a child's ability to follow complex sentences (and follow them, they can!)
The story and pictures are cute, though there are very few pop-ups. But there's plenty here to entertain the adult reader, as well as the usual puns and prat-falls for the kiddies.
While each page does have an illustration, there is quite a lot of text for a book aimed at young grade-schoolers. Some kids (especially the media-addicted) might not stay focused on the story long enough to finish.
But for those who can groove along with it, Pop-Up Mickey Mouse offers a rare glimpse into a bygone day, when much of America was still small towns and farmland; where dogs were named after planets and mice played calliopes.
