I live in Norway and have been looking for this box for about five years, so finding it here on amazon.com, at this price, with such a swift handling was what we here would call a feather in amazon's hat. And the product is of course excellent. The cards are so nice, I'm struggeling to choose which one to use.

I am in love with these postcards. They come in a beautiful box with a ribbon all the way under th postcards so they lift out perfectly. The pictures are crisp and fun to look at. It is funny to see some of the movie posters from different countries that are included as postcards. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because the top postcard, which is a picture of a bug, arrived with a red stain across the middle from where the ribbon had rested. There is a blank red card at the bottom which would have worked as a perfect protector on the top. Otherwise, they are WONDERFUL. They are almost too perfect to use for my new postcard hobby. I may have to get another set.

These are some sturdy postcards. They also showcase some of Pixar's best work. Many of the concept art postcards are so pretty that they ended up on my wall rather than going out in the mail.

No way to explain what a delight these were. The huge surprise was to find out some of these are the artist's sketches. What a total treasure. I have never been so happy with a set of postcards before. These are a collector's item and now I find myself not wanting to send them out.

I tend to do things without paying as much attention as I should, like buying this book without researching it's details.

I bought the book because my 5 year old daugher loves to draw, and because she's nuts over the Lion King at the moment. I figured it would be great for her to see not just finished work (like what winds up on television) but to also see sketches, concept drawing and paintings, and the like.

So I bought it. When I received it and saw it's pocket size I was so happy! It's absolutely the perfect size for a little kiddo like her, but the content is professional, serious and mature as I had expected. It's hard cover, totally full of pictures, and has glossy pages printed on high-quality paper. Some folks might have been put off by the size but for my purposes it was more than perfect!

We have great fun looking through it together and looking at all the different styles of artwork. If you or your kid likes to draw or paint, and likes this movie, You'll really be sorry if you don't buy a copy. No I don't work for Disney or Amazon. I just like to encourage and support my childs love for art any chance I get, and boy was this a great addition to her library.

AMAZING ART ANIMATION

"The Lion King," Disney's 32nd animated film proved to be a smashing success, appealing to young, old, and those in between. As it filled movie houses, Disney mania swept the country again. The breathtaking visual effects that fascinated so many are brought to stunning life in "The Art of the Lion King" by Christopher Finch.

This lavish folio-size volume traces the creative process utilized in making the film, from black and white sketches to glorious full-color reproductions and even splendid fold-outs, one exhibiting the surreal beauty of the African natural world.

Actor James Earl Jones, the voice of Mufasa the Lion King in the film, contributes the foreword, while the text is by Christopher Finch, author of "The Art of Walt Disney."

Those fascinated by the art of animation and those touched by the story of Mufasa, Simba and Scar will treasure this color and fact filled memento.

Apart from the fact that my copy was close to pocket size, i thought that this book was fantastic. Not only does it come filled with amazing concepts, it also is accompanied with the Lion King Storyline. As an illustrator and student animator, it is a wonderful addition to my resources. The sketches through to the complete full colour images are for any Lion King fan, artists or just someone wanting a beautiful coffee table book. If your from overseas like myself and cannot get these kind of books in Australia, i reccommend Amazon and their associate stores. Buy this, its great.

This book is one of the most exquisite things to come out of The Lion King. The graphics are beautiful. Most of the pictures are ones that are used for the storyboard and layout scenes. I reccommend it to anyone who loves The Lion King, or just Disney in general. Order with confidence - the book is worth much more than its price tag. It is also much more convient than the larger, more expensive version which I believe is no longer being produced.

We own all of this series! Started reading them when my daughter was 4 (she just turned 5 now), and they are age appropriate. Not too scary and always a happy ending. One book only takes us about 4-5 nights worth of reading together. The longer ones are good too "Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg" and "Fairy Haven and the Quest for the Wand", but they are a little bit scarrier than the short books (more appropriate for ages 5-7 I would think).

Great book, even for small children

I bought this book on a whim - and my 4 1/2 year old daughter loves it! I thought she might be too young, but she followed along well. We read two chapters a night and finished it in 5 days. We'll be buying more, as I'm getting tired of reading the picture books :-)

This is the fourth Disney Fairies book I've read to my 3 1/2 y/o daughter. She just loves the fairy adventures and learning their names and their talents. When she's older I'm sure she'll enjoy reading them on her own but; for now we read it together. I'm so happy to have discovered these wonderful stories. This book by far has been our favorite adventure. Beck is an Animal Talent fairy which is very Dr Doolittle and brings so much more to a story. She learns alot about life beyond Pixie Hollow and discovers to trust herself and believe in her dreams. So much of Beck's adventure can be translated to any adversities anyone faces in life. I'm sure it's a story we'll discuss for a long time. You won't be dissappointed.

Beck and Vidia Would Make a Good Team

Review Date: 2008-03-27
In my opinion, the best Disney Fairy books are those that have the conflict growing out of the fairy "talents". (The talents are both gifts and curses.)

Here, Beck's fascination with animals (she is an animal talent) leads her into an interest in exploring, and eventually to Vidia for advice.

It is too bad Vidia is usually being portrayed as the "bad girl". Her "speed talent" has become a "speed addiction" so she tends to break rules and disregard everything else as pointless. Her independent streak is her strength, but also her weakness because she is ALWAYS alienated from the "group"

I was excited at first when Vidia and Beck started talking because they would make a POWERFUL adventuring team! But no,... Beck is instead portrayed as not too bright and Vidia goes back to being an outcast.

Too bad.

She "reads" this book all the time and hasn't ripped any of the pages. She loves it and lets me read to her sometimes and sometimes she just looks at the pictures. One Of The Best Princess Books Out There...
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2006-04-28
The princess franchise can get a little scary sometimes. Hundreds of pink books and allot of them are the same. As a Beauty and the Beast fan, and as an adult with no children, I often pick up Disney Princess books with exceptional art, just for the art.

So I can't imagine being a parent trying to sort out which of these Princess Books would be worth buying. Many of them have the same exact stories, or just rehash the movie story line with old stock clip art from the movie. Blah Sometimes though some of these princess books go too far. The princess magazines often have pages of comics that are so displaced from the original movie, so out of character, so wild and crazy....not even a three year old would but into it. One in particular comes to mind where Belle goes to visit her father for Christmas, because you know, she just felt like it, and Beast didn't seem to mind. Later Beast brings everyone in the village Christmas presents. (Uh.....riiighhhht!)

This book however has really delightful new stories and art. It features Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast.

This is a personal favorite because all the stories are really light hearted and seem like tiny little gems of the casual day to day life of the characters. They are just so well written, and well illustrated Disney books. It's a little oversized and they spared no expense in printing really lush art work that's unique and matches the original films very closely. So the Aladdin art really looks like Aladdin-the film, and the Sleeping Beauty art really looks like Sleeping Beauty-the film.

Also....I have to mention that the Beauty and the Beast story is very unique compared to most princess books as it isn't the old "Beast did something bad, and Belle is upset about it" story line. It's just a nice friendship story that's very sweet. Actually all of the stories were very 'fresh' feeling, in character, and not about that one typical thing the characters always do, not the one joke that's always over played. It's ~actual~ new material any Disney fan will enjoy.

Overall I thick this book would be great for anyone...adult or child fan alike. For the price you pay, you couldn't hope for better writing, printing, or artwork.

Definitely a really really really great find.

Time after time, my 7 year old goes back to this book. It features the Olsen twins, pre-anorexia when they were young and inocent, dressed as various Disney princesses. Each story is lovingly told (Cinderella etc.). There are also craft projects included you can do themed to each story; I don't recommend them unless you have a LOT of time on your hands.

It has six different Disney stories like Aladddin and Beauty and the Beast. Before each story they tell you what they think of it. After each story they give you instructions to build a product that goes with the story that you just read.

This book is really cute and has six of Mary-Kate and Ashleys favorite Disney stories. Stories like Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, Snow White and the Seven Dworfs, Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid. In each story they tell you little things and before each story they tell you why it is their favorite and their thoughts about the story. After each cute story they give you a project to make something that is based on the story you just read. It even has pictures of them and of the stories you read. Before each story they dress up like the main character. Over all the book has more than one story in it and is really cute and good for little kids.

This book is an awesome compilation of all the princess stories. It's written very nicely, not at all like the usual princess story books, which are written strictly for children. This is definitely a book an adult can enjoy with their child. The only downside is that your child will most likely not be able to read it on his or her own until they are able to read chapter books, in which case they'll most likely be interested in reading other types of books. Overall, I think this is a great book. It gives my daughter and myself some quiet time together. As all parent's know, that is always priceless.

Yes, it's wieldy, but my 27lb three year old will carry this one out of her library for me to read these long stories! We got 2 of the Disney movies after reading the stories (Mermaid and Cinderella) and she identifies the story details and pics/photos from this lovely book. Nice full page pics on every facing page.

Only criticism is after the Cinderella story there is no wedding picture or one of the prince and herself together which my daughter asked for.

When this wonderous book arrived in the mail this morning, we paused for a moment after we took it out of the box and said, "WHOAH!" This book is big and beautiful.
I first purchased this treasury five years ago for my best friend's newborn daughter. At the time, I remembered
thinking the book was too special and elegant to give to a child. Yes, I gave it to my friend's daughter!! I've searched for my own copy ever since. This Christmas, I bought a copy for my 88 year old Aunt (who introduced me to "Sleeping Beauty") AND a copy for myself at last! My neighbor who lives down the hall from me (a 55 year old adult lady) just looked at the book and told me SHE wants a copy for HERSELF! You can tell this book is already popular; and the price is a real bargain for the size and wonderful content.
This treasury collects the ultimate editions of Disney's "SNOW WHITE," "CINDERELLA," "SLEEPING BEAUTY", "THE LITTLE MERMAID," "ALADDIN", and "BEAUTY AND THE BEAST." What sets this book apart from other Disney collections is that each story is told in lengthy detail, broken down into Chapters like a novel. The dialogue is taken almost directly from the films on which they are based. Each story is approximately 94 pages long. Each page of text is followed by a full-page color illustration; again looking exactly like the Disney film on which it is based. Each page of text has a detailed border illustration. If you remember, each classic Disney fairy tale film began with a large storybook being opened; the pages turning. The style and content of this book reminds me of those classic film's beginnings.
The ornate details and size make this the perfect treasury for ADULTS to indulge in their own Disney Princess fantasies, or fond recollections of long ago vanished childhoods when we saw and appreciated Disney films for the very first time in a real movie theatre!! You don't have to, and probably won't want to, share this with kids; but your sweet, favorite Aunt and adult neighbor will likely want their own copy.

This has been a GREAT book for us! We got it for our 4 year old daughter for Christmas and now, 2 months later we are STILL reading at least 1 chapter at naptime and 2 chapters at bedtime EVERYDAY! I can speak for my daughter and most of her 4 year old girlfriends: They are SOOOO into the Disney Princesses--the pictures in this book are FABULOUS; while the stories are complete (identical to the movies). We don't let our daughter watch the movies (she is SUPERSENSITIVE to scary stuff) and yet the stories give a vivid picture (while allowing us to edit out the more graphic words as needed: i.e. "kill, die, etc.). On those nites when the "fearsome fours" are intense, she even tells us to skip over the pages with the witches or tells us not to say "Malificent,...because I may have nitemares." I cannot recommend this book more highly as it has ALL the princess stories, beautiful pictures and will be a keepsake to pass on for generations!

Fantasia 2000: Visions of Hope was an extremely good book. My entire family enjoyed looking at the photos. The book provides an extensive overview of every segment of the film.It helps you to understand the framework of each segment, and prepares you extremely well for the movie. The book even lets you in on hidden jokes in the movie such as where to spot Mickey and Minnie in "Pomp and Circumstance," or where to spot a hidden Nina in "Rhapsody in Blue". The book is a must have for fans of Fantasia 2000, fans of Disney, or even other people who just love these sorts of coffee table books.

This though in detail on each of the ssegments individually there is not enough info on the overall creative process. I thimk this book belongs first for any Fantasia 2000 fan, secod for any Disney fan, and and a distant third for anyone who enjoys reading about the making of movies.

This is a brilliant companion to a brilliant film. Countless colorful stills from the film and commentary from its creators makes this a must for collectors and fans of the film. Culhane continues to be a master of Disney animation and this book is consistant with, if not better than, all of his worthwhile looks at the Disney animated films. If you like this book, you'll adore The Art of The Huntchback of Notre Dame. This oversized art book in some ways is more satisfying than the film itself. Huntchback the book provides an in depth and pictoral overview of the classic story and the development of the animated film, including beautiful conceptual artwork from illustrator Peter DeSeve and insightful character development sketches. Where the film, while almost perfectly animated, lacked heart the book makes up for. If you can find it, get it. But unitl you find that, Fantasia 2000 will more than keep you and your eyes busy.

The author expertly steers you around the Disney complex, avoiding the crowds and taking adavantage of little known secrets (like finding organic meal options). You'll get tons of practical touring strategies, like, for example, in Magic Kingdom, making your lunch ADR's at specific hours in the day so you can have some of the attractions to yourself for a few hours in the morning. That's just one example from the book; each page is loaded with this kind of pragmatism, so even on your first trip you'll feel like a seasoned visitor.

Every healthy aspect of your trip is covered in the books, from the fitness activities to see and avoid, the restaurants to hit, the best menu items, ADR options, and Disney. Every type of traveler, from the best athlete to the recent dieter will find useful info. More than anything, while realizing how much of Disney World's healthy lifestyle options are truly still hidden to you, you'll still feel as though you're on vacation.

Lastly, this books is quite popular in the Disney community and already the ADR restaurant and meal suggestions are not so hidden. More than once I walked into a Disney restaurant, where I found a family inevitably clutching their copy of "The Healthy Guide to Disney". That is the type of endorsement this book has among Disney fans.

While this book is an incredible guidebook and you *should* use it to plan your Disney vacation, ultimately, only you alone will know what book suggestions are right for you based on your specific dietary needs and fitness level.

There are many guidebooks available for Walt Disney World in general, but this one is by far the best for any guest serious about health and fitness. Not only is the book extremely current and continually updated, but the layout is easy to use, and it provides information that is actually useful in both planning a trip and once inside the Disney gates.

The book is well written, and is especially strong in the sections on dining, ADR's and fitness. Without question the coverage of the Disney Marathons and golf courses in this book is superior to any other guide. The restaurant information is also informative, much better than other guides, but remember that no book can completely cover all the restaurants in WDW. I have been to many of the places detailed in the book, and generally agree with the appraisals of the authors (the one exception being that I thought the O'hana meal was better than the authors did). Even if you don't completely agree with every opinion offered in the book, every claim is well reasoned and nothing is completely out to lunch.

This is the gold standard for WDW guidebooks, and I recommend it highly to anyone visiting Mickey!

I used this book along with "The Unofficial Guide" on a wonderful trip with my family to Disney World. I particularly liked the ADR Disney Dining tips. The advice was down-to-earth and honest. There were helpful pointers about when to go to sit-down meals, where to go and what to skip. The restaurant descriptions were great along with the synopsis of each fitness activity. They rated our hotel's pool a bit harsh but we forgive them!

Disney Marathon "Must-Have" Book

This is a must-have book for anyone running in the Disney marathon races. As a avid runner, I always race in the Disney marathon and half-marathon each year (Goofy Medalist). I especially look forward each year to seeing author Dan Green at the Disney Health and Fitness Expo and am so glad that he took the Disney running community's advice and wrote this book. With his great insights and race tips, this is a "must-have" for anyone registered in any of the Disney endurance series. From nutrition to race day strategies, he covers it all!

Whether you are an athlete looking to set a personal best time at this year's Disney race or just want to have a healthier Disney vacation with your entire family, this is definitely the book for you!!

If you want to know the healthy parts to Disney, I don't think this book has any real competition from other books. My other Disney guides had some supplementary and detailed info on health, but it came nowhere close to this book in useful coverage of big and little healthful insights to eating and fitness in WDW.

The marathon and restaurant sections alone are worth the price of the book. We went to five restaurants with a healthful rating and everyone was outstanding.

The author tells you what you need to know to prepare for your healthy Disney vacation and has strong opinions on what to eat and do, including where to hike and bike and the best fitness centers. You're time in Disney is extremely valuable, because even if you're staying two weeks, you can only do so much. I bought my book in advance of the trip and I'm glad I did, because it takes a while to read and absorb the information. Of course you'll have to plan earlier than that for flight, places to stay, etc. The book is easy to read and entertaining and has some photos to backup their descriptions and put them in perspective.

I didn't agree with everything in the book but certainly most of it. The complaints I have about the book are actually very minor. It was extremely helpful in extracting the most out of my week in Disney. It's a must have. I will definitely be using my Healthy Guide on my next Disney trip in late 2009.

If you are a Disney/Mickey fan this book is a MUST! Amazon offers (NO DOUBT) the best price you will find! You can nearly purchase two for the price of one on Amazon (at least I was fortunate to do so).

If you are into memorbilia this book is a real keepsake! Nearly every other page has a sweet surprise reproduced to take you back in time.

These books are an investment.

A winner once again!

Robert Tieman's Mickey Mouse Treasures is another winner. We all knew it would be, but the 6 pages about "the Mickey that never was" did come as a beautiful surprise.

This is the third and final book in the series written by Robert Tieman. The first two books were fun and wonderful, but this was his best of the lot in my opinion. Of course, I am a Mickey Mouse fan and this book is all about Mickey. This book contains really wonderful reproductions of old Mickey Mouse memorabilia, the originals of which I could never afford. If you like Mickey you really must own this book!
