When I get a guide book. I look for things such as fine details and points to look for. The PassPorters books dose that and even more. Their web site is a gold mine Disney. The people who wrote this book are totally absolved by everything Disney go to their forum. I have tons of other guides books, I am taking my family on the 7 day Disney Cruse next year and wanted a detail guide about the route where we are taking. This book does that and things I never could of known. I higher recommend these books from PassPorters they are totally above everything you could find for a Disney trip with fine details.

The information in this book allowed us to make informed decisions well in advance of our trip. Information regarding the various types of rooms, the dining choices, and on the the excursions available allowed us to plan out our trip. Even has lots of 'tips and tricks' on how to make the best of our hard-earned dollars. I have also purchased the passporter for WDW. These books are very helpful for those who are avid planners.

In these book are great practical guide for the new and not-so new to cruising. It tells you detailed review on most aspects of cruising at Disney- from staterooms, dining, excursions and "tricks" to making your vacation more manageable and less overwhelming. My favorite part is how to avoid being sea sick in the cruise with numerous suggestions. The other part is the sample menu in the dining areas. The list of items to bring in a cruise is an invaluable tool as I have committed the mistake of bringing the wrong outfits for my last cruise. Definitely indispensable!

I have never been on a cruise so I was starting from zero. This book helped me and my family understand all of the options available from Disney and allowed us to make informed decisions. The authors have been there and done that, literally, and share with us their experiences, insights, and photographs. Each activity at sea and on shore is explained in great detail. Each member of my family actually read through these with highlighter in hand, marking off the ones they wanted us to do. It makes planning a lot easier.

In that same vein, I found the descriptions of the cabins to be particularly useful. With almost a dozen cabin classes, how is a newbie supposed to choose? I suspected the cabins with the pianos would be a tad pricey, but after that I was lost. This book came to the rescue. It provides diagrams, measurements, and features for each cabin class, along with first-person descriptions.

If you're considering taking a Disney cruise, then you really have to get this book.

A month ago our family suddenly booked a Disney Mediterranean 11 night cruise. Having never cruised, I panicked. This book that will be in my purse the whole time. It describes the ship, the ports, and answers about a million other questions. As a novice, I have since visited many websites, the library, and bookstores and this is the most complete and fun to read book of any. I love the writers' enthusiasm and attention to detail. Passporter's packing list is worth the book price!

We own all of this series! Started reading them when my daughter was 4 (she just turned 5 now), and they are age appropriate. Not too scary and always a happy ending. One book only takes us about 4-5 nights worth of reading together. The longer ones are good too "Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg" and "Fairy Haven and the Quest for the Wand", but they are a little bit scarrier than the short books (more appropriate for ages 5-7 I would think).

Fira is outnumbered by her triplets and has to apologize to her townsfolk a lot. (Single mom + 3 bickering kids = go away now please.) But the day is saved when her kids disobey her instructions to stay home and follow her deep into a dangerous mine! Yay!

Actually, the story was pretty good. A fun read.

The CD version is read by the talented Debra Wiseman.

My 8 y.o. has fallen in love with these books. You typically can't fail with Disney products and these are no exception. The stories are interesting and unlike some series books for this age range, these books stand alone and are not "formula" books where only the names and places are changed, but the same event takes place. Each fairy has a talent and her talent solves the problem in her book. The illustrations are vivid and imaginative. Apparently there's a movie about Pixie Hollow that will be coming out soon and there are also toys starting to come out with the fairies.

I thought this really captured the artist in me. I don't know if I would say Bess is my favorite fairy thou but I see a lot of myself in her she's messy, and likes to paint when wants to. I read this fairly quickly it is somewhere in the mid range for a chapter book not too easy and not to hard but definitely an enjoyable story

The story a masterpiece for Bees the main conflict was, about a fairy name Bees who loves to paint in her studio. One day Bees figured that she would make a portrait for tinker bell since she fixed her best Palette knife she ever had. That day tinker bell showed everyone her new portrait. Then all of the other fairies wanted one just like tinker bell's, they asked tinker bell what was the occasion of Bees making her a panting tinker bell said oh not a thing it was a surprise to me because I just fixed her best palette knife she ever had and she said she wanted to give me something in return. Of me doing that for her so she made me a portrait of myself to hang up in my room since I needed some spices in my room.'' I had asked her for one before and she never had the time to make me one. The next day Bees got a knock on her door it was Dulice the fairy most known for his poppy puff rolls. Dulice asked Bees did she want any of his famous poppy puff rolls. Bees said "of course thank you a lot" then Bees said "what can". Before she got to finish her sentence Dulice said oh yeah can paint a picture of me and my rolls. Bees was pleased to make Dulice a picture it would be the first time that Bess painted a picture with a fairy holding something in their hands. Then she got another knock on her door with roses, then another, another, and another everybody wanted her to paint a picture of them. It was over 100 fairies who Bees had to paint a portrait of. She was so tried every time she went some were and some one help her out Bees always say what can I so they always say a picture would be good before she got to finish talking. After Bees finished 15 portraits some of the fairies were complaining about how their wing are not the right size, their face does not look right, and they need a do over. Bees got angry and had a really good idea in her head but could not get it out because of the thing's she have been doing for the past few days. That afternoon, Bees left a note on her studio door that said "sorry I can not paint all of the fairies pictures at one time have to get back with you another day because today I need time by myself". Bees had went far away into the forest were no one could find her while she was painting a portrait of the sky and the trees then a storm had came it was, lighting and, thundering but bees still was painting she was happy that she got her own time to her self. While bees was painting a storm fairy was passing by she saw Bees painting and went back to tell the other fairies were she had seen Bees all of them were mad at Bees because she had gone off to do her own thing instead of paint their pictures. That night Bees decides to stay to tinker bell house so no one would come knocking on her door while she was resting just to ask for a painting. Then another fairy seen Bees with a big portrait in her hand then all of the fairies thought it was of them. Until Bees came to show them that it was a portrait of nature all of the fairies got mad at her and Said well where is our portrait's Bess told them that she did not want to make a portraits of fairies anymore, because she got tried of doing the same thing over, and over and wanted to get the new idea out of her head but couldn't because of all the drama. Then all of the fairies walked off and then the meanest fairy of them all Vida told Bees that she loved her painting and did not care what the other fairies said about it. Since Vida told Bees that her painting was beautiful Bess figured that she will let Vida have her portrait. Bees was happy that some on had liked her painting and felt good to give it away to someone who cared about it. But she did not want the other fairies to pick on her and say she was the meanest fairy because she did not paint their painting .Bess did not know what to do until her friend Quill told her that she did the right thing because usually all of the fairies did not give out thing's like that. In maybe the only reason they did that was because they wanted you to paint a painting of them bees was not mad at what Quill said. Finally the problem was resolved when Bees and Quill walked into the Tearoom and everyone was looking at Rosetta dress saying how pretty her dress was and where did she get it from.Rosetta loved that she had all eyes on her. She stood there with her pink flower In her head, blue top, pink dress, and her pink shoes on. Everyone wanted a dress just like that they all asked who made the dress Rosetta said, "why I did of course" all of the fairies said would you make me one please. Rosetta told all of them yes. Rosetta was happier then ever to see that everyone wanted her to make a dress for them. Then lots of people told Bess that they did not want a painting of themselves anymore. Bees did not reply to them and was just happy the pressure was off of her.

Sparked a sudden interest in reading

Our 3 y.o. daughter is obsessed with the movie 'Cars'. One night on a shopping trip I brought this book home on a whim. Not a single bedtime has gone by since without reading this book. She loves it so much that she wants desperately to learn to read it for herself. She even recognized the word 'McQueen' repeated throughout the book and reads that word on her own now. The book is already well loved and dog eared but standing up to it all.

The pictures in the book are hand-drawn and give a high-level overview of the story. It skips many of the details in the movie but my daughter doesn't seem to care very much about accuracy, detail or that it looks different than what's in the movie.

We've read hundred of books to her but none have sparked her interest quite like this. I don't know if it's timing because she's getting older or the tie-in with the movie. I don't care even if it seems over-commercialized. Whatever keeps her interested in reading is what counts. I'll surely be buying more books in the series.

Read cover to cover in Preparation for my very first cruise. This book has covered every detail. What to pack, what to expect from the ship and what to expect on the shore excursions even what the terminal looks like when we arrive at the port. Both shore excursions I have booked,(BEFORE BUYING THIS GUIDE) are rated very low...One even said don't bother. I'm hoping they were wrong about them. Excellent, Thourough book!

This is the best book on the market if you're planning a Disney Cruise in the future. There's more information offered than any of the other books I've purchased for our former cruises. It offers views from more than one person, including a child's point of view. I was so impressed by the information in this book I also bought the PassPorter's Field Guide to Walt Disney World. Both of these books will go with us on our trip in the near future. The only thing I didn't like was the photos, no color, so it's hard to tell just how beautiful the ship is if you haven't seen it before.

Great investment if you've booked a Disney cruise!

Good ol' Speed. Forever stating the obvious in his trademark excitable tone. Speaking of which, this book is perfect for "Speed Racer" fans to get excited about.

Author Elizabeth Moran hits the track with infectious enthusiasm and leaves in her backdraft plenty of fun info on all the various iterations of "Speed Racer," from the original manga and Japanese series to the imported version I grew up with... to the newer versions, including a proposed live action film that never got off the ground. Moran includes the requisite episode guides (and rates them!), plus interviews with both the Japanese and American creative teams, racing terms, a complete dictionary guide to Speed's world and transcripts from the ESPN "Nascar" commercials. And wait until you read the original Japanese lyrics to the now-classic theme. Yep, even master auto-designer Pops Racer couldn't have done a better job, because this book has more features than the Mach 5!

What's especially neat about this is that it's all in glorious full-color! The design matches the vibrant and vigorous animated series. A fun package, and highly recommended for any "Speed Racer" fan. Go, Speed Racer, go!

This book is a thorough and complete look at that great show, Speed Racer. It starts out with a quick look at the theme song of the show, the characters, the Mach 5, and the people behind the characters' voices. Then, the book launches into the best part of all, a one-page synopsis of each of the 52 episodes, complete with a picture from the episode. After that the book continues with the history of Speed after the show, complete with images from the new Mach Go Go Go show, and a glossary.

This book is a wonderful stroll down memory lane for anyone who grew up watching Speed and the gang. My eight-year-old son, who is a chip-off-the-old-block and a Speed fan too, did not find too much in this book, but it is not intended as a story book. What the book is designed to be, it is wonderfully, a guide for fans of Speed Racer. I enjoyed this book and think that you will too!

A truly enjoyable book--

Ok, I will freely admit that this may not be considered by some to be a scholarly historical assessment. I have been interested in the reign of Louis XIV since childhood when my mother purchased for me a coffee table book of photographs of Versailles. I wondered what could possibly have taken place at such a monstrous and wonderful palace. Since then I have read at least a dozen books on the period which tend to focus on the development and impact of absolutism in 17th century Europe. But this little book is a gem because of its author. Nancy Mitford was the daughter of an English Baron and spent her life as both an academic and a socialite. Her telling of the lives that swirled around Versailles palace is authenticated by the impression one gets that she would have been completely at ease in that setting. This book was written in 1966, just 7 years before her death. Her style sounds more like gossip than history, but is generally regarded as very well-researched. I warn you that if you read this book or one of her other historical biographies, you are in danger of becoming hooked on Mitford and will probably seek out some of her other well-loved books. This was a very enjoyable book and I find myself going back to certain chapters from time to time. One of the most memorable portions is the end where she describes a ghoulish sacrilege; the looting and desecration of the tombs during the revolution. As any good book will, it fascinated me and left me wanting to know more.

Nancy Mitford is best known as an author of witty, elegant novels like The Pursuit of Love and Love in a Cold Climate. In the 1950s and 1960s she also produced a number of historical works, of which The Sun King is one of the best.

The Sun King is a personal biography of Louis XIV. It does not deal in great detail with the political, military, or economic issues of Louis XIV's reign but primarily focuses on his personal life and that of his family. Louis married his double first cousin Marie Therese of Spain (she being his genetic sister for all intents and purposes, the reader is amazed that his family turned out as strong and healthy as they did). He also had three major mistresses and a string of casual acquaintanceships which produced a number of illegitimate children. His numerous relations also produced a quantity of children and had many extramarital relationships.

A major part of the book deals with the construction of Versailles. Indeed the book seems almost to be a biography of the chateau. The profuse illustrations, including many photographs of the chateau and its grounds, add immeasurably to the pleasure of reading this work.

But the most compelling reason for reading The Sun King is to enjoy Mitford's elegant, witty, prose style, which is as much in evidence here as in her novels.

Witty and personable, good introduction to the subject.

Here's "Lifestyles of the Obscenely Wealthy and Powerful"! I admit I'd never read much about this period of history (I'm fond of joking that my in-depth knowledge of politics and history more or less ends with Elizabeth I's death), but the bit I read at the bookstore made this book irresistible. I passed up an Alison Weir for this, but I don't regret the choice at all. It is both charming and knowledgable, with a witty, personable, almost gossipy tone.

There's a lot of information here, packaged with lots of pictures and glossy pages. It is a lovely book to look at purely on an aesthetic level. But do take the time to actually read it! Though sparse in areas, it is a rich look at the life of Louis, and at the lifestyle of a courtier of his day. The creation of Versailles is gone into in much detail, as are sexual politics and wartime attitudes. Mostly this focuses on Louis' personal life and that of his court and how Versailles came about, so there isn't much here about actual wars or about international politics. But what there is is just stupendous. I'd call this a must-have for a beginner in French history. I'm very glad I got it.

Nancy Mitford came to me by way of this book and, ignorant of the incredible talents that lie with her, her sisters and the aristocratic family into which she was born. Since then, I have devoured Nancy's fiction, her personal history and I have much more to learn. However, it is her talents as a biographer and historian, perhaps best exemplified with this book, that I believe she achieves the realization of her greatest gift; that is to send life into the dead hand of history. In "The Sun King" history comes alive as I have truly never experienced. Here is a book that takes heretofore one dimensional characters and fills their frames with humanity, giving them dimemsionality, life. She uncovers the perspective that sheds light on each characters good and bad side, turning Louis XIV, Monsieur, The King's wives, his children, in fact the whole of the court at Versailles into a vision in one's head that makes it easy to understand why the Ancien Regime in France can still provide relevance to a contemporary world that approximates it so little. Relevance and topic interest, to be sure, is the most amazing feat for a historian to achieve. Nancy Mitford with "The Sun King" stands among rarified company in such an achievement.

My Favorite Book, Perfection!

This book is an absolutely amazing piece of work. I was introduced to it while looking for audiobooks on ITunes. The audiobook was so enjoyable that I felt compelled to purchase the actual book to read along with it.

Mitford makes each of the historical figures come alive, and makes an opulent and enclosed society accessible to readers of any age. The work is gossipy enough to be interesting, but not to such a degree as to detract from the historical accuracy. I would recommend "The Sun King" to anyone who wishes to learn more about the age of France's greatest king and the people that surrounded him.

The only drawback is that for one to fully appreciate the book, they should have a very basic knowledge of French and European history (at least as far as names and dates are concerned). Having long been interested in history, I did not find this a problem, but I can see how one who was not familiar may find themselves in unfamiliar territory. Otherwise, this book is about as close to perfection as I've seen.

I found this book to be fantastic! I was especially impressed with the restaurant reviews. I have been to Disney twice since I read this book and I would not leave home without it. There are so many restaurants to choose from at Disney. This book will help you get through the maze!

I will have to say that this book is by far the best guide to the park available, with (for the most part) dead on evaluations of rides and restaurants. My only problem with the book is that some of the reviews of attractions exaggerate their attributes so much that you wind up disappointed. For instance, Star Tours and Body Wars, two similar rides, get high ratings and warnings about their intensity, yet wound up being more like a Wal Mart parking lot ride with a film projected in front of it. A great investment, if only for its touring plans for all of the theme parks.

I have used the guide for my last three trips and I find it very realistic. It also offered answered questions a Disney traveler may only ask once. For instance the chapter on weddings helped me to plan my own. Using the info in the guide coupled with creative planning and common sense I had a dream Disney wedding for $268.00 US dollars. Reception on property, cake made by Disney and memories that will last forever. This years valuable tip comes from the Universal chapter which we look forward to seeing for the first time in September

This guide provides a realistic view of planning and participating in a Disney World vacation (and often humorous insites from readers). The book praises that which is good and shoots down that which is not. This is the 3rd unofficial guide I have used. It can seem kind of "commando" at times. Use what you need and store the rest for info. Restaraunt reviews are great. It is very lacking in lodging specifics. You'll need to read another guide book for that. It is behind the times in a few areas but nothing that you can't live with. I'm waiting anxiously for November to arrive so I can purchase the 98 version. If you have never been to Disney World or have only been once before or you have not LEARNED from your past MISTAKES, this is a must if you want a vacation thats less stressfull than most Disney visitors--get this book. Most people do not realize that a Disney vacation can be stressfull. Read and find out why

This is a great book that captures the history of the formation of EPCOT based on concepts that were proposed. Some did not come to fruition. Some were put into place, but have now been replaced by others. This now reads as a history/nostalga book. It is still a fun read. The pictures are beautiful, and the text enjoyable. I have a version that shows ISBN 0810908190 published in 1982, 240 pages as listed here, but has a slightly different cover. I will try to load a photo.

This book is great!

This book is great is because it's from when Epcot Center was just opening. It was published before the park even opened. Some things it discusses never even made it to the parks! For example, there are beautiful sketches of the Africa pavilion in the World Showcase, which never came to be. This book is not what I expected, it's better than I expected. I think every Disney fan should have one in their collection.

An Amazing Scrapbook of Two Prolific Composers

Walt's Time - From Before to Beyond by Robert B. Sherman & Richard M. Sherman. 1998, 252 pages.

The Sherman Brothers need little introduction to Disney fans. Prolific composers of music for films and theme park attractions, they have written some of the most memorable songs in Disney history.

This book, which looks at their long career, finally saw the light of day after the Sherman Brothers met Bruce Gordon and Dave Mumford. Just like The Nickel Tour, publishers felt that there was no commercial appeal in this book. Bruce and David had self-published The Nickel Tour and thought that they could do the same with Walt's Time. The Sherman Brothers, after shopping the book around since 1981, had worked with Jeff Kurtti to have a majority of it written. Bruce and Dave met with Jeff and they agreed to self-publish. The Sherman Brothers were thrilled to work with Bruce, David and Jeff.

The book was created to resemble a scrapbook of their career. It starts with their first day on the Disney lot where they land the title song for the Parent Trap while auditioning a song for the Horsemasters. It then launches through the highlights of a majority of their Disney work. The middle section is dedicated to their father, Al and looks at everything that he published and his successes. During the section on their father, they look at their family history and how Al Sherman influenced his children. It is obvious from Walt's Time that the Sherman Brothers were profoundly influenced by their father and Walt Disney. When the brothers speak of either man, the text is filled with love, gratitude and wonder.

The third section details more of their work with the Disney Company, before and after Walt's passing. It also looks at the body of work they have done since leaving the company. Stage productions, theatrical work and animated films make up the bulk of their work in the '70's, 80's and 90's.

The Brothers spend a lot of time discussing their interactions with Walt Disney and how Walt was an amazing and optimistic person. The song There's a Great, Big Beautiful Tomorrow was inspired by Walt Disney. Their proudest moments include It's a Small World and Mary Poppins. They wrote the songs for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang after receiving Walt's blessings to work on the outside project. Albert Broccoli (producer of the Bond movies) also owned the rights to Fleming's children's novel about the car. Broccoli brought the idea to Walt, who declined saying he had too much on his plate and wanted more creative control. After the success of Mary Poppins, Broccoli gathered most of the creative team that had worked on Mary Poppins. The Brothers were also involved with two of the biggest animated films of the 60's as well: The Jungle Book and Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree.

Obviously, the Sherman Brothers' influence has been felt greatly in the theme parks. The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room, Magic Highways, Magic Journeys, Makin' Memories, Astuter Computer Review, the Best Time of Your Life and Miracles From Molecules.

Looking at everything the Sherman Brothers have done is a tad bit overwhelming!

Bottom Line: I enjoyed this book and was completely astounded by how prolific the Sherman Brothers actually are. The book is designed beautifully and features awards, personal recollections and photos from every period of their career (just like a scrapbook!). This is book is clearly for music fans, fans of the Sherman Brothers and fans of Disney films from the 1960's.

What a great book about in my opinion the best songwriters! The Shermans had the opportunity to be with Disney during what I believe was the peak of the Disney Co. Their songs have warmed the hearts of millions of people across the world. My mother had never heard of the Shermans but whenever I sing their songs she says "I love that song, I didn't know they wrote that..." I can count on their songs being family friendly and joyful. I love Winnie the Pooh was not at all surprised when I discovered who wrote the songs! I never get tired of reading Walt's Time. The pictures are great and layout is so different. It is fun to read the background stories that is behind each song. Such as A Spoon full of Sugar and how Robert's son gave them the inspiration. I know the price makes it difficult for some of us. I personally do not own the book, but I love to borrow it from my library. It is a must read for every Disney and Sherman fan out there!

Wow!, What a feast of fun! Here's the story of two of this century's most prolific and popular songwriters, the Sherman Brothers, finally cronicled in a superb scrapbook. Discover the Sherman Brothers' insights into the enigma that was Walt Disney, and learn of their dream job with this man.. who nurtured their talent, producing a sound that is truly instantly recognisable, the world over. These are the guys who created "the biggest word you ever heard", who left us singing of a "small, small world".. and gave lyrical life to a "fantasmagorical machine" called Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

This is a lovingly remembered book by the Dick and Bob, put together with the help of a few amazingly dedicated fans. Bruce & David and Jeff have produced another gem of a book. With them, too much is never enough.. the photographic treasures, the office cartoons all give the impression of being invited to dinner with the Shermans. I was lucky enough to hear the Shermans at the piano for a preview of this book at a Disney fan's convention last year. That was a night I'll never forget.. as the brothers sang their way through the songs of my childhood. Now the feeling of that night (and my childhood) has been captured in print, and I can't be happier! Thanks guys, it's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious !

This book is truly the gem of my library... A beautiful look at the careers of Robert B. and Richard M. Sherman! Reading this book brought back so many memories! Little did I realize that so many of my favorite Disney (and even non-Disney) musical films all had one special thing in common... the music of the Sherman Brothers.

This wonderful book is formatted like a huge scrapbook... its fun to read, and just packed with rare photos, cartoons and other memorabilia that would delight any reader.
