Winnie the Pooh: Everyday

ISBN 0736400338 - Winnie the Pooh, always a favorite among the shorter people, is a nice way to introduce a child to reading - and bed time!

With short poems, each page features a time of day (Play Time, Nap Time, Bed Time and more) and explains what Pooh does at that point in his day. From waking up and stretching to counting sheep and all points in between, Pooh's day is just like your child's day - and kids will find that a very good thing.

Ironically, the author of this book is Ellen Milnes, I assume no relation to Pooh's creator A. A. Milne (no "s"), but still an amusing detail. The wonderful images of Pooh throughout his day, done by Angel and Eva Rodriguez and Paul Lopez are absolutely perfect.

Disney: The Ultimate Visual Guide will make the perfect family Christmas present for families already interested in Disney's wonders. Disney has touched lives for decades: Disney: The Ultimate Visual Guide provides an excellent visual survey of the extent of the animated creator's works and the logical progression of Disney talents and creations. A fine oversized picture book the entire family will enjoy.

Condensed Century

How did the DK staff manage to condense a century of Disney into 124 pages? This is a great coffee table book. It has enough colorful pictures to keep a preschooler occupied, and enough text to satisfy adult fans. I liked the index in the back--makes referencing quick and easy. Well done, Russell Schroeder! Disney television, Disney theme parks, Disney cruises, Disney stage productions, and of course Disney movies and merchandise fill this image-rich book. If you had to purchase each image on postcards, they would be smaller--and cost a whole lot more.

This is a great book for kids ages 3-8. The activities are not only enjoyable and well-explained, but they acutally come out looking as good as the pictures in the book. The materials needed are common items that we had in the house which did away with needing to make frequent trips to buy things. There is a gentle humor in this book that fits perfectly with the stories that were selected to accompany the crafts. One extra bonus - my daughter frequentlty chooses this as her "bedtime book". How many other "craft" books can match that?

Nice pictorial book, published by the Walt Disney Company

This is a very nice hardcover book that you could purchase at Disneyland. It was only sold in the Disneyland Park and not in any stores. Disneyland has been producing a hardcover book every year for some time, and most years there are only slight changes made from the previous years. But when a big Anniversary year comes like this years 50th, they change the title and cover to reflect the special occassion. New attractions and attractions that are under construction are usually shoe-horned into the last few pages each year. There are a few pages with some brief articles, but this is mostly about the pictures - which do have captions. The book is made up of very high quality full page and half page color photos of attractions, buildings, and people having fun in the Park. The binding and hardcover are the best quality, as are the glossy thick pages. I have the 25th year, the 35th year, and a few others to make comparisons of the changes each year, and it intersting to see the progression of the book over time. This usually sells for about $25 new in the Park. Old anniversary books sell for anywhere from $10 to $100, depending on where you buy them.

A must have Life-Long keepsake book to remember your visit

A fabulously interesting, detailed book with hundreds of beautiful pictures of all aspects of Disneyland. Includes the Disneyland Park, as it is in 2000, as well as it's history, it's seasons, and even some behind the scenes. Includes fabulously interesting articles to give more insights, details, background and often some history to go along with the beautiful photos.

This book is a treasure to both kids and parents. Something the family will keep and look back at many many times. It brings back the memories, the feelings, the fun of our past trips to Disneyland. As the park changes we can always accurately remember how it was during our recent visits as well as show the kids how it all started as just a dream of Walt's and how it got to be such an amazing place.

This book is a must have, even if you buy the newer 2002 edition called Disneyland Resort - Magical Memories of a Lifetime. The 2000 edition (the full title is Disneyland - Memories of a Lifetime) has the history and behind the scenes. The 2002 edition has the new California Adventure theme park as well as the Resort Hotels, but does NOT include the fascinating history and behind the scenes. So, if you can find them, buy them both. You'll be truly happy you did.

Do *Your* Kids Know the Stay-Safe Rules?
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2006-12-15
"Don't Talk to Strangers, Pooh!" is part of the "My Very First Winnie the Pooh" series, which also includes "Roo's New Baby-Sitter" and "Tigger's Moving Day," among others.

In this book, Winnie the Pooh learns that his good friend Christopher Robin is going to his Grandma's house for supper all on his own. Pooh and Piglet are worried about him being all by himself, but Christopher Robin tells them that it isn't so scary if you know what to do to stay safe. He gives them a set of rules to follow and they put them to good use later on. Christopher Robin is very impressed with how well they learned them.

Christopher Robin's rules include "Don't talk to strangers" and "Never take a ride with a stranger" among others. They're all included on the last page at the very back of the book. At this time, or any time, it is always important for kids to know what to do to stay safe when it comes to strangers, but to also know that they can be safe with their friends. These favorite characters, Pooh, Christopher Robin and all their friends can help them to learn just what to do.

Non-threatening way to teach caution about strangers.

This book was wonderful. Talking to children about strangers can be difficult. You want them to be cautious but don't want to frighten them. How do you tell them that not all strangers are bad and still warn them that some are dangerous? Get this book - it is a great, non-threatening way to teach your children to be wary of strangers. Christopher Robin explains to Pooh & Piglet that most strangers are nice but some aren't. Since you can't tell which are which, you never talk to any strangers. The best point, I thought, was how Christopher Robin explained that strangers are not people who looked strange but are people you don't know. That's a hard point to get across to kids. At the end, is a list of "Christopher Robin's Stay Safe Rules." I plan on buying a copy of this book for everyone I know who has kids, that's how great I think it is.

If you or your little one is a Disney fan you will enjoy this & the other Spanish/English Disney books. This book is easy to read in either language; has great illustrations with kids favorite Disney characters. It does a great job of continuing to expose your kid to a variety of Spanish words & language structure. It is a board book so it is sturdy for many ready. Kids 1 1/2 to 5 will still enjoy this; then older kids can read it themselves.

This book is my 18 month old daughter's favorite book of all of the Baby's 1st Disney Books. She really enjoys the bright colorful pictures. What I like in this particular book, is that it sticks with the same theme throughout the entire book. Dopey's bedtime routine includes cleaning up, taking a bath, brushing his teeth, having a cup of water, getting ready for bed, having a story read, and having a lullaby sung to everyone. My daughter likes to look at the pictures, and tell me what she sees, she sees everyone doing dishes she says "Clean Up", she see's dopey taking a bath she says "Bath"....

Perfect for my use

I play decent piano, but not a virtioso. My challenge has always been finding music that (1) reasonable to play (2) balances accompanyment with melody--too much melody is generally too simple and too much accompaniment doesn't reflect the song. So this book was perfect in both regards.

Adequate arrangements, but still fun to play!
Helpful Votes: 14 out of 14 total.
Review Date: 2008-02-11
The music for Enchanted is as fun to play as it is fun to hear. The arrangements are pretty standard and adequate enough for those in various levels. I was hoping for more variation in the arrangement for "That's How You Know" because of how each verse (as heard on the soundtrack) has a different sound and instrumentation to them. But instead we get bars and bars of the same notes, which I guess is easier to memorize. And the "True Love's Kiss" arrangement is shortened by excluding the fanfare beginning and starts with "When you meet the someone", and also excludes the Prince Edward (James Marsden) part of the song as heard on the soundtrack. These gripes are minor and could be solved with a trained ear. Other than that this book is a must-have for Disney and musical fans alike.

THE TURNING POINT

Review Date: 2004-07-21
This is the first book in the Michelle Kwan Presents Skating Dreams series, and it includes a letter from Michelle addressed to you, in which she tells you a little bit about herself. All the books in the series include a full-color postcard of Michelle, plus her answers to real e-mails from her fans. There is an address where you can write to her, too.

In THE TURNING POINT, you'll meet 10-year-old Lauren Wing, a girl who loves to skate. She's training and practicing for the Regionals competition for novices, and she's looking forward to moving up, to become a junior-level skater, and then a senior-level skater. And maybe someday she can try out for the Olympics. In her dreams! But in her everyday life, Lauren just concentrates on skating her best in the Regionals competition.

Unfortunately, it's hard for Lauren to concentrate on her program when her cat gets lost. Her parents, her brother, her sisters, and all her friends help her look for him. They put up flyers. But they can't find him, and Lauren really misses him. To make things worse, another skater, Erica Claiborn, says nasty things to Lauren just before she has to skate in the competition, trying to make her goof up. The absolute worst thing, though, is when Lauren finds out --- just before she goes onto the ice --- that a world-famous skating coach, Eve Perry, has come to watch the competition. Lauren is scared to death!

She skates very well in her first routine, but in the second one she falls down. Erica wins first place. Lauren tries to be a good sport about it, but falling down was not something she wanted to do in front of Eve Perry! She'll never get to the Olympics that way.

Then something happens. Something that will change Lauren's life forever. If it works out. If she can do it. Will her parents go for it? Do dreams come true? Read this book to see if Lauren can find her cat, and if her skating dreams become a reality.

A little bit of magic for your little princess

My daughter got this for Christmas. It's a nice story in the Disney Fairies series that comes along with the lantern kit. You want to read the instructions first and you the parent need to make the kit - it also will take some smaller fingers or a lot of patience if you have stubby fingers like mine! I also suggest cutting off the front of the kit - it makes a nice little folder that your princess could use at school or in her room.
