Love at First Sight Due to Careers? THAT DOES NOT COMPUTE!Review Date: 2001-03-20
Dr. Naumann is a bold scientist; he asked a lot of questions before he wrote this book and he asked men, women, whites, blacks, Asians, Latins, and others. He gives statistics to support love at first sight and even produces statistics to go one step further:Dr. Naumann says couples who fall in love at first sight stay married more than couples who don't! WOW!
But then comes the biggest flaw in this book:Dr. Naumann stumbles when he tries to explain why people fall in love at first sight! He concludes that the 3 main causes of love at first sight are: 1) Physical Appearance; 2) Personality traits; and 3) Career Achievement/Potential.
And then LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT loses most of its credibility! HEY, WAIT A MINUTE DOC!!! Are you trying to tell me people fall in love at first sight because of personality or careers as much as for looks???
THAT DOES NOT COMPUTE!!! Sure, women see men and say, "Oh, boy, he's looks like he'll be a doctor one day! I'm in love!" And personality as the reason for love at first sight doesn't seem much more likely, either. "Oh, boy, she looks like he has a great personality, I want to marry her!" Yes, personality and career acheivement or potential may be important in some forms of gradual love, but that's not what this book is supposed to be about! So that leaves us with category #1, physical appearance. Dr. Naumann produces statistics to show women consider athletic ability in men to be important, but he also shows that men don't care about athletic ability in women, but are instead more interested in youth and beauty. My research supports him on both counts. But since this book is supposed to be about love at first sight it should have focused more on what specific physical characteristics are involved in love at first sight, or, "What was it you saw when you first saw that person that made you fall in love?" But instead Dr. Naumann spends a lot of time beating around the bush with TRUE ROMANCE stories from various people who claimed to have experienced love at first sight, and so LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT is like a scientific study of UFOs that turns into into an alien abduction story.
So how does LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT comare with other books about Sociobiology? Well, Leil Lowndes' HOW TO MAKE ANYONE FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU is more useful, but I didn't buy it till a month after I first saw it; Nancy Etcoff's SURVIVAL OF THE PRETTIEST has more interesting research, but it was a year after I heard about that book that I finally mail ordered it; but what happened when I first saw Earl Naumann's LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT? Well, Dr. Naumann's title, his eyecatching cover, and my insatiable curiosity made me buy this book the minute I saw it, so you might say that when I saw this book I fell in LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!!!

Shocked at first sightReview Date: 2006-07-08
I still find the topic funny. Compare the eyes, mouth, and nose, of my friends. However, the more couples I see, the more I find truth in her theory. Of course, I compared the pictures of all my ex-partners in Photoshop, and I was really surprised! Just looking at the pictures I didn't see the resemblances, but fitting half-half images revealed astonishing echoes and proportions.
Once I was abroad, I fell so deeply in love that I couldn't eat and sleep for weeks after I've first seen that person. Our personalities were light-years apart; therefore, I didn't understand why that face comes into my mind without pause, even if I don't want it. It was very hard to overcome this strong attraction. Then, reading the book, I feel much better. She was like a copy of my mother, but not just the face, but all the body shape and hairstyle. Still, I like to remember her, because I feel good to see that face, but it's much easier to let it go.
Then, when friends send me their wedding pictures, it's so nice to see how their smile is similar, their look, and their ambiance. It's like seeing the harmony in small details.
Also, when I meet someone, I remember his/her face much easier. I examine the details now, the eyebrows, mouth, shape of nose, shape of the head, proportions, etc.
I particularly like how S. Malin develops her idea on relationship characteristics. How men and women develop their attraction, what are the typical easy things and obstacles of each type of resemblance.
A friend of mine, who also read the bought, commented that Jenifer Aniston and Brad Pitt are no longer together. Well, this book is not about why people separate, but why people get attracted. And I'm sure, Jenifer and Brad still feel the attraction, like I feel when I look at the photos of my partners of the past.
Another great book on the topic "Falling in Love: Why We Choose the Lovers We Choose" from Ayala Pines, developing the psychological side. These two books fit super well together.
All I can suggest is to free your mind and jump into this funny ocean of attractions. Then when you see a love couple on the subway, you might find yourself checking their eyelids. :-)

I highly recommend this book. The only complaint about it I have is that it's not long enough.
fun for a party, dumb otherwiseReview Date: 2005-02-10
The premise of the book is that we are attracted to people that either remind us visually of ourselves or a key figure (mother/father/nanny) when we were young. There are 3 categories of matches:
a) couples whose faces are of the same proportion
b) couples whose faces are of similar looking features (eye shape, mouth shape, etc.)
c) couples where someone has features that remind them of their mother/father/nanny, etc.
The first group are the "most attractive" as symmetry and proportion are quantitative measures of attractiveness. The theory is that this is why attractive people (like actors in Hollywood) date each other: their faces are both "proportioned". This is just silly. Everyone likes to go out with attractive people! So it's not surprising that attractive people like to go out with other attractive people.
The third group is silly too. It claims that people are attracted to people who remind them of people from their youth. But what about the other side of the relationship? For example, it is claimed that Prince Charles likes Camilla Bowles over Diana because Camilla looked like his nanny. But this doesn't explain why Camilla likes Charles!
The second group (of similar features) sometimes works in the pictures, but sometimes doesn't.
Also, there are a lot of royalty represented which aren't as fun to look at because they aren't as familiar as, say, people in Hollywood.
Photoshop has made it easy to paste pictures over other pictures for comparisons and it is fun to see the quality job done here. (Pasting Monica Lewinsky's picture on Bill Clinton's mom is a hoot as is to see the similarities of Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt pasted on each other.) But while this is a fun party gimmick, it doesn't explain a whole lot. Save your money.

I also found some of the reasons why I feel rushed, overworked, and tend to run late. Very eye-opening!!!
This is a very compassionate book of loving and accepting oneself. I plan to read this book over and over!
The authors write in a loving and caring manner. I am undergoing a lot of self-growth by reading books by these authors. I have read another book which they helped write, and I have just purchased my third book by them.
I highly recommend this book, and other books which they have written.

"The Secret" that Hollywood Celebrities Don't Want You to Know About.Review Date: 2007-11-06
I've been constantly seeking true ancient knowledge. So if you are in any way like me you will love "The Very Simple Law of Attraction." This book is an easy read and my daily guide to perfect feng shui.
You'll learn how easy it is to apply the three levels of the law of attraction in your life. Throughout the book she makes clear that you don't necessarily have to spend money to make money with feng shui. You already have many of the tools necessary. All you have to learn is where to put the right images and colors in your home. You'll also end up learning your personalized energy numbers to discover your four best directions. These will help you accelerate your success, improve your relationships, get perfect health, and have infinite wisdom.
The core of the book explains in great detail how our environment is just a reflection of who we are and of the things and events we are attracting.
Marie has simplified the secrets of the Chinese Feng Shui Grandmasters in what she calls the "quantum physics" of your home. Each one of the twenty four facets/chapters covers a single characteristic that needs to be in check so that your outer world reflects your inner world.
The tools in this book definitely help people to achieve and manifest more effectively. You'll begin treating your home or rental property like a real diamond. Each chapter gives you a personal story that illustrates the corresponding facet, followed by three easy steps to master each "point of attraction."
I'm so grateful for this book. Just after a few days of making simple changes results are overwhelming. My highest paying clients are requesting my services more frequently. In addition, I've been getting triple the amount of referrals out of the blue.
I can feel your heart and love Marie Diamond, thanks again.

Interesting...Review Date: 2007-04-18
Other than that, I enjoy the message immensely and find myself more joyous after listening to it. Whether or not Abraham is true, these lectures are deliciously entertaining and heart-warming. I do believe in the concept they are teaching (ie: the law of attraction) just maybe not the method they use to teach it.
Everyone Else Copies Abraham - Read the Source!Review Date: 2006-06-20
It's easy to get past the fact that Esther is presumably channeling, if you have a problem with that, because the truth of what is being said is so profound and hits you so squarely when you hear it you really don't care where it's coming from. I heard them first at a publishing convention where many authors spoke, including Wayne Dyer, and I signed up for Abraham-Hicks only for entertainment, I told my friend. Ten minutes into Abraham's presentation I was in tears.
I bought the 8 CDs and I listen to them over and over and over. Rich with "heads-on" ideas, I don't believe anyone need ever be depressed again after reading this work.
There is only one thing I disagree with in all the Hay House books, including this one, which is that we attract everything that happens to us. We have children running out for baseballs who get kidnapped, horribly molested and murdered - and they didn't attract that. They were unprotected and that may have attracted immature or sociopathic people. But the thoughts of these children didn't attract what happened to them.
But this does not in any way cloud the fact that you CAN, in fact, attract what happens to you, and that is infinitely more interesting.
Deliberate Intent is an improvement over their prior book, Ask and it is Given, in its detail. I thought I understood the art of allowing until I read Deliberate Intent where the concepts are explained much more thoroughly. I'm recommending it to everyone I know with problems ranging from breaking up with a fiancee to health problems to money dreams.

I Loved ItReview Date: 2008-08-20
I loved the part about finding out who you really are. If you understand the discussion on quantum physics you realize that your physical body is not you. If you start stripping away the parts of your body, all thats left is all you are. You are perfect. You are God or the infinite wisdom.
Read this book with an open mind and begin it as if you have no previous beliefs and it will become very clear how to become enlightened. As you replace your old beliefs with the new ones life becomes much simpler and less stressful. You will begin to see we live in an illusion anyway and be able to just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Easy to Understand and FantasticReview Date: 2008-06-13
Ahlquist tells the reader up front that this is no new theory. She also addresses the other books before her's and lets us know that some presentations work better for some people. Her book makes it simple and fun to understand. She talks about prayer, God, and compassion which is not in the other books very much. It is more logical than some of the others and is already working in my life.
Since I read her book I have started to change my work situation around and am on the road to a new relationship.
I love the book and her humor makes understanding more fun.
