Yesterday, I had an opportunity to sit down with Balance with Grace. I sat in my favorite reading chair and read it from
end to end - in one sitting - I didn't want to put it down! Grace has captured all the essential information needed for living
a balanced life in this one book. I loved the stories she used as examples and found myself saying "what a great idea" more
times than I can count! This book is well done and I will continue to use it as a resource for living a balanced life.
Thumb's up for this read

Grace's book is filled with good, practical common sense which isn't so common these days. In today's American society of
very busy and very
lonely people Grace's book is a valuable tool in making sense of our lives.

Grace has written a terrific how-to book for those who enjoy learning more about themselves. Fun and thought-provoking exercises
and personal anecdotes that will resonate with the reader.
Lots of good resources. I came up with a whole list of books to add to my own library. It's a book you'll find yourself picking up again and again.

This is a good book on the subject. The last few sections concentrates a lot on tuning chicks and how to get what you want.
There are tips on flirting, techniques and good ideas to get you an 'in' with girls.
The first sections of the book more deal with yourself, how to improve in areas and increase your confidence in yourself and with women.
Loads of great advice in this book. Well worth a read. I liked it a lot.

Chick Magnet offered me some great tips to help me overcome my shyness with girls. I learnt how to read women, observe their
body language, how to flirt and be way more confident. This book teaches you that pulling women isn't all about how you look
or having heaps of money. There are many things a guy can do to help turn them into a chick magnet. Any guy can do it. I learnt
a lot from this book.

This is a pretty good book. Sure, some of the advice offered is common knowledge, but some sections of this book do really
offer something new. I especially liked the section titled "On The Hunt". There are some great tips in there, and some very
original ideas. I've read through this section a number of times and plan on trying a few of the ideas this coming weekend.
A mate of mone is reading it right now and we're just trying to decide which angle we might play. Should be fun.
Another thing I like about this book: It doesn't matter if you're a teenage guy, or someone elder with more experience. The advice on getting to learn your strengths, playing down your weaknesses and building a powerful and confident persona apply to any man at any age. I wasn't "unconfident" before, but I've applied a few tips from this book and I've definitely felt my self-confidence growing. With that I've noticed my "attraction factor" with women increasing. More girls have been checking me out lately and I actually feel happier and good about myself.
My advice: Give it a read, take small steps each day and within no time you will notice some very positive results happening.

I emjoyed this simple volume on finding your way back to God's will -- which is, indeed, where you are right at this moment.
With practical examples and simple language, Haase explains the earthly temptations we face every day, and how they separate us from the Lord, our true home, our true self. He discusses the seven deadly sins (an analysis I found particularly interesting), and shares practices to bring you back to self/God/home.
Gentle, thought-provoking, and easy to read, this would be a great book for a study group or individual contemplation.

Albert Hasse has done an excellent job of describing the Christian journey back to who God created us to be. His chapters
bring up signposts along the path home and reminds us that the path is not a straight line. Albert Hasse seems to make a point
of walking with you along the path and not in front or behind.
This book is such a good read that I read it all in almost one sitting. At the same time, each paragraph has such pearls of wisdom that I have found myself reading and re-reading chapters over and over again.
Anyone that is searching for a way to be more authentic, more in tune with God, and more present to God, self and others will find this book an excellent addition to their library.

The book spanned a lot of time, which I think was necessary to really show the full spectrum of Aphrodite. She really didn't
find true love herself until much later in life, although she went looking enough for it. I enjoyed the book, but did a lot
of crying... growing up is hard to do, even for the Goddess of Love.

I randomly bought this book at a store for $1, thinking it was a romance novel. Really, it's a great book, I like the fact
that Aphrodite develops as a character, and that she seems to learn from her past experiences. I also found it very descriptive,
the image it portrays of ancient Greece is lovely. The tone of the writing is very similar to the feeling of the heat, water,
and magic in the remote islands of Greece today. I liked that the author took the basic stories of the Gods/Goddesses and
used her imagination to show us another possible way things could have unfolded.

Alicia Fields is a gifted writer, but book 2 in the Goddesses series didn't measure up to the first one. This novel focuses
on Aphrodite, the goddess of love. As the purpose of Field's books are to portray ancient greek and roman goddesses as human
beings, this Aphrodite is a carefree, beautiful siren. She spends her life seducing men and boys, starting as young as age
7. She dallies with dozens of men, all the while oddly attached to her adopted brother Ares, who jealously and sometimes violently
declares she is "his". When she gets herself pregnant at age 15, her adoptive parents Zeus and Hera take her baby away and
force her to marry her crippled half brother, Hephaestus. From there, it all goes downhill. Most of the novel is fluff based
on Aphrodite's "romantic" escapades. Once she is married, she treats poor, kind Hephaestus like dirt, even though he is wonderful.
Ares leaves and then reenters the picture and then leaves again, with no real role. Aphrodite is pathetic and self centered,
unintentionally helping start the trojan war by introducing her pal Helen to Paris. The book lapses from ridiculous romantic
antics to Aphrodite as an older woman, acting like a harpy and annoying the heck out of her poor son Eros, whose father is
a mystery. Although mildly interesting, I would not recommend this book to a die hard mythology fan.

Book is good, but not what I ordered. I ordered "Frommer's Madrid: With side trips to Salamance & Avila." I received Frommer's
Madrid.
Decided to keep it anyway, as I was not going to take the side trips after all.
But I should have been advised of the different book I would be receiving.

I went to Madrid by myself last year and relied on this book for most things. I had a great time!!!! The maps and walking
tours gave me a good sense of the city to then go back and explore on my own and the night spots that I chose from the book
were a lot of fun and I met very nice people.

We bought this book for our trip to Madrid. The restaurant reviews were mostly dead on, but the review of our hotel forgot
to mention that the hotel charged 10 Euro/day for TV (Gran Hotel Conde Dueque). DO NOT rely on the maps in the book, they're
not accurate and have some of the Metro stops several blocks off. We had a great time by following suggestions in the book
and would buy it again.

This is by far the best well put together guide. I love it. It is small. It fits nicely in a pocket or a backpack. It has
fantastic maps of various scales. Even a detachable foldable tear-resistant map. For a quick look there is a perfect scale
unfolding map in the left part on the first page. It also contains good reference about BART (the train), and other public
transportation.
I love the neighborhood walks feature. This is really a way to experience San Francisco. Every area discussed contains a contextual map, which will make sure that you'll never miss anything.
There are plenty of small, but well chosen pictures that give you idea about the things that you may want to see.
I'm seriously in love with this series of guides. Which is why I think I'm going to go and comment on all the other ones that I've used so far (Amsterdam, and London). I was just looking for a guide to Toronto, and was very disappointed to find out that this series does not have one for Toronto. The next best thing, comparable to this series is the smaller version of Top 10.
Seriously, don't spend any more time picking out the guide, this series is the best by far!

this is the book that has enough information in it but organized in a strange way. it's perfect for people who don't want
to think themselves at all. it's got all the daily itineraries you can follow without thinking and judging. but i'd rather
it simply provides the information and let me do the planing. in order to do that you have to flip back and forth all the
time because information about the same place can be in different sections everywhere. e.g, one place could be under romantic
and reginal and shopping section. so if you just want to go to this place, you have to refer to both and it's easy to miss
something. but i do like the nice pictures in the book.

I found the guide to be VERY well organized and helpful. The restaurant and hotel suggestions (we stayed at the Cow Hollow
Motor Inn) were helpful and spot on. We were not disappointed.
The fold out map could have been more extensive, especially because a couple of the restaurants were in locations that extended beyond the map itself.
The book is light (weight-wise) which is a plus in my view especially when you're doing a lot on foot.

Finding this book in Dallas at a major bookstore was next to impossible.Seems like there is little demand for books on the
South Pacific. This may be due to expensive airfare to the area and lack of crusie ships traveling in those waters. The book
contains the regular Frommer sections and much of it we have "tossed" since we are traveling on a cruise ship. Dining out,
hotels, ect. won't be of much use. When I searched various web sites I did not find a lot of great information. This book
at least puts the reader in touch with what's worth seeing in Tahati, Moorea and Bora Bora---these are stops our ship will
make. The book has a copyright date of 2007 and the sites discussed throughout the book won't be changeing. We found the reading
and recommedations to be good. Now we just have to see how accurate they are when we visit. If you are traveling to French
Polynesia, this is the best book we have been able to locate. Hotel and dining prices are changeing so rapidly throughout
the world I would personally not count of the book prices as being up to date.

It appears this is the first edition of the Tahiti and French Polynesia guide, and the only version I could find on Amazon
was the Portable version. Maybe a more full version will come out in the future, but for now I just picked up the portable.
We're planning our honeymoon to Tahiti, and the book has been invaluable in doing so. You can kind of tell it's a first edition
though -- there are even some typos I've come across! Also, there is definitely a lot less information than other guides
I've used from Frommer's, but I'm guessing that is the point of the "Portable" line of guides to keep them more travel-sized.
Some of the information is a little outdated (already!), but using it as a starting point allows you to take what you learn
from there and do the rest of the research online. For example, the exchange rate between XPF & USD is already off by about
10% (not in the favor of the USD), and the Sofitel Moorea they speak of was closed through all of 2006 for renovations, making
me think even though this is a first edition, the information was put together in 2005 at the latest because there is no mention
of the renovation -- and the hotel would obviously need to be re-evaluated by Frommer's after re-opening.
All in all though, there are some great money saving tips, a lot of information about places to eat, foods to try and sights to see, all in one portable book that we will definitely be taking with us when we go in July. Can't wait! Thanks, Frommer's for helping us save money by planning this ourselves instead of enlisting the help of a travel agent.

is suprisingly good! Probobly because it is based on the Tahiti section of the South Pacific guide (now in 10th edition) it
doesn't contain most of the first edition problems - inacurate info, little info etc. It is really nicely researched and though
it is quite a slim volume it is really helpful. One of the best guides to Tahiti & Her Islands.

that are as lucid. I have recommended it to many, and will continue to do so. The quality of writing is marvelous, and
the organization of the topics is first-rate. Clearly, the authors spent a lot of time with this one, and they did it right!

and with beautiful illustrations. If your interested in the math this book is obviously not for you, but if want to understand

At the time I was simply feeling that my love life needed more and I needed to somehow meet more women. I also picked up
a few of Susin Rabin's books and even went to one of her seminars at the Y in NYC. Rabin's are also great books but at
times too wordy. This book was very precise and changed my perspectives in 3 main ways. First it taught me to relax and
enjoy myself while flirting. It taught me that flirting is a very natural action that we have all done since childhood
in different ways. It made very clear- through words, examples, and exercises - that flirting should be and must be fun
to be successfully received. Interestingly enough as I made sure I was having fun flirting and NOT trying to PURSUE - women
naturally became very interested in me. Second it helped me to understand the types of women that interest me most and
the types of environments that I am most comfortable in. This was important because it helped me to focus my flirting with
those I was most interested in and in the environments I most likely to be more "comfortable" and consequently "more successful"
in. Lastly through exercises and great humor the book helped me to become more comfortable with myself and the opposite
sex. In fact I occasionally re-read the book when I am feeling down to remind myself to just relax and have fun - as you
will see, great things often happen when you do. There is no book on Flirting I would recommend higher.
Great Book!

My brother gave me this book when I was 14. He thought I could use a little help being more outgoing, and he was right. I
won't say this book totally changed my life, but it did definitely give me a different perspective, and that allowed me to
start changing.
I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to be a little more at ease with themselves and everyone around them.

The obvious comparison this book brings to mind is with "An Architectural Guidebook to Los Angeles" by Robert Winter and (the late) David Gebhard, which (through several editions) has been a favorite of mine. (I doubt it will be updated again.) But that is a more architecture-focused book, and this one is somewhat broader, though it has more architecture than anything else. (As it happens, both books have similar views of the Disney Concert Hall on the cover.)
Winter and Gebhard include a lot more buildings, and are more insightful and critical, while Stanic is simply descriptive. But Winter and Gebhard's book is really designed for touring neighborhoods, while Stanic's is more a guide for someone with some time to hit the highlights around LA. (And the book does cover the county, not just the city.)
I think this would be a good book for someone planning a trip to the LA area, or someone living in the area who has never really gotten out and seen it. For someone who knows the area well, there won't be much new.

Like any good cultural history buff, I have a whole shelf filled with guides to the Los Angeles area that have helped acquaint
myself with my new home. Stanic's Los Angeles Attractions surpasses them all to a level that is frankly, amazing. No other
guide book on the area is as comprehensive, engaging and well curated. The book features everything you want in a guide--text
that is easy to read, interesting quotes, vivid photography as well as all the compulsory information on everything from LA
theaters to museums to architecture. The added bonus? Topics that aren't always covered and just the right amount of esoterica
to heighten the experience to memorable and fascinating.
If you like the visual and organizational style of DK Publishing's EyeWitness series, a wide range of topics and thorough information on the area, you'll agree that this book a must-have for residents and visitors alike. You won't regret this purchase!

The world has been waiting a long time for a good guide to Los Angeles that shows what the city has to offer and why its citizens
love it so much. This book is it. Most other Los Angeles guides are written by authors on the east coast or the bay area and
seem mostly apologetic, and at best reluctant, at having to write a guide for a city they never have liked or understood;
but feel obligated because of the insatiable demand of people wanting to visit the city. This guide is the only one you will
need. FINALLY!
