When I first bought the 2001 edition I was relatively new to trucking and not knowing what the next towns were along the interstate
this has been a GODSEND for me especially being a woman trucker. All I had to do was pick it up and find the Interstate I
was on, the state and the mile marker, I could find a safe place to stop, a fuel stop or a rest stop. The only guides that
are out now go by state with everything listed by city in alphabetical order. That doesn't help me at all. I recommended
this book to many of the trainees that I trained and made sure before I released them onto the road that they had a copy of
this.

I am sure the title makes you think of the movie. It's not like the movie at all. For everyone who loved 'Blood Secrets';
here is 'Fatal Attraction'. I had to buy it when I found out that Craig Jones was the author. I'd say that the story starts
off a bit fast paced. There is a lot of troubled plots in the book that grow and grow; twisting more and more in which 'sadly'
it did seem hard for anything to come back down to a nice ending. So, I didn't really like the end and it wasn't as a shock
as the other book, but there is a lot of devastation spread throughout the community instead of....well, you'll have to read
his books yourself.

I love all the Nancy Drew Files books, but this is one of the most memorable! It really varied from the usual storyline that
the NDF stories have:you know, crime committed, Nancy investigates, mulitiple suspects, suspensful ending. Instead, Nancy
had a hand full of problems, one of which is dealing with Brenda, the jealous girlfriend of the suspect and Nancy's rival.
Plus the crime is quite a bit more dark and sordid than usual. A great read, and very surprising! :)

well if you are very limited on time the best way to see washington has to be the tourmobile you can pick it up at union station
and get on and off all day for 25 bucks a person (35 for a 2 day pass) this guide was a buy and easy to carry. you can go
to all the major monuments for free and the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier was impresive and moving
this book and all the frommers portables are great in my experince.

What a funny, brilliant book! The author is a genius and an optimist, and it is thrilling to gain insight into not just how
the world works but how the world can be better. With the recent controversies over Darwanism v. intelligent design, this
would seem to be an excellent resource. The book's theory, more or less, is that all human achievement is driven by our desire
to procreate and that this mechanism ensures a continual human advancement.

Better ways to explore the quirky side of America.

I very rarely quit reading a book before completion, but this is the exception. Frankly, I found it boring. The premise
sounds great: Two British guys exploring America through the experiences of local festivals. I'm not sure by what basis they
chose the particular festivals they attended. By the fourth event, I predicted that they would 1) find a population of Americans
to criticize, 2)find a reason why the festival was boring and leave for their motels early and 3) find a reason to criticize
the city/government/mode of transportation/city inhabitants/fellow festival attenders. In their defense, of the three adventures
I read, I wouldn't want to be a part of any of their choices either! Maybe England has better, local celebrations and attractions.

Ulla Jacobs' first book, Hidden Laws, is an excellent introduction to spirituality and the laws that govern us. This is the
first book on this subject that I have read that covers all the "Universal Laws" in such a clear and easy to read manner.
Her background story on her recovery from illness and how it lead to her spiritual awakening is extremely inspriational.
I also liked the stories of examples of the Laws at work. Many of my friends and family have read this book, and it seems
to relate to everyone on some level. An excellent "how to" book on ways to get the most out of your life, become a better
and happier person, and create abundance. Who knew it could be so easy!?

What a time it was in America when all these oddities were worth driving to see!

Long before Disney World, Florida was the home of the tourist attraction. It was a state that worked hard to draw visitors
and, as it grew in population, give its new residents novel things worth driving to see. This book is full of these wonderful
venues, most of which are long gone from our modern and far more homogenized world.
Steve Rajtar brings a similar experience to editing this book. He grew up around Cleveland, Ohio, but came to Florida to get multiple college degrees and the place grew on him, so he stayed. He has laid out 150 historical tour routes so you can drive through Florida and see the cool, the strange, the odd, natural wonders, and historic places. Rajtar had written 13 books before this one. I enjoyed his selection of photos, his captions for them, and his concise chapter introductions.
This book isn't divided in to chapters based on time periods. Instead, the photos are organized by county with as few as one photo for Citrus County, for example, while there are more than 20 for Miami-Dade as you might expect. While there are many based on `mermaids', dolphins, alligators, water-skiing, there is also a wide range of the unexpected such as Pioneer City with its old west theme. There are snake shows and natural caverns with amazing stalactites and stalagmites. You can see attractions based on sea shells, strange plants, trees, and sunken treasure. The attractions based on genuine historical item and Indian culture is set cheek by jowl with Tiki Gardens and Webb's City the `world's most unusual drug store' where you could see all kinds of strange acts including tight rope walking roosters.
While the book is clearly based on Florida attractions it speaks to a period in American culture where these oddities seemed to make sense and were attractive to millions of our fellow citizens.
Great stuff.
