The answer!!!!! .....definitely not just a secret anymore... :)

Definitely a must read book...if you truly truly want to UNLOCK the "secret" and UNLEASH the real inner you and everything that you were meant to manifest!! The movie, "secret" was a great intro to this world of the "law of attraction" but I believe it was lacking in directing and providing the necessary steps for the Law of Attraction to really be actualized into your physical world.

The Awakening, will get you to identify, challenge, process and finally release the "stuckness" in areas of your life so that it clears the way for all the goods...whether it be material, career/life path, relationship, health, spirituality, etc...to be attracted and manifested in your life. Without working through your 'muck', Alicia mentions that its like trying to color a muddy water a certain color...you will not be able to color the muddy water but only if you clean the mud out and when the water is clean, can the color's true vibrance come through.

It is a must read for anyone on the path to learning, discovering and implementing the Law of Attraction!!!

Of all the "Law of Attraction" books I have read, this one is more detailed in how you can make it work for you as well as roadblocks one may encounter. Alicia has taken the time to write this book in a way that is easy to read and to understand. I have had a lot of "Aha" moments while reading this book. She makes one point very clear and that is the "Law of Attraction" is Spiritual, not Secular. A lot of scripture ran through my mind as I read her book and the one that stands out the most is you reap what you sow. Any book of this nature must be read with an open mind. We all have a right to choose what we put into our minds as well as what resonates in our soul for us personally without judgement from anyone.

Great First Novel...but

This is a wonderful first movel..and I can't wait to read Black Tide, but the author and/or his editors need to be a little more careful. In Dead Sand, the main character seems to be constantly changing his clothes because of copious sweating...enough with the sweat, already. Second, in this novel, the author twice refers to a police parking pass, the second time as if he were telling the reader for the first time. A little more attention to detail, please?

"Dead Sand" is the first book by Dubois that I've read but it won't be the last. What a treat to stumble across a new-to-me mystery writer who is literate & conjures such believable characters, peopling a well-plotted book.

The author creates a real sense of place - a term much bandied about & often not really true. This one 'puts you there'. I highly recommend it.

No matter whether you're a film professor, film industry professional, or just plain moviegoer, you'll never look at a trailer (movie preview) the same after reading this book. Written with academic rigor and thoroughness, it explains how previews came to referred to as trailers and analyzes trailers for their intended affect, subtext, and demographic. The book follows the author's passion for examining " the hypothetical spectator that can be read within the trailer texts themselves: an "audience study" who can read through the looking glass of the Hollywood film industry." She submits case studies of some 30 trailers, from Casablanca to Paper Moon to Air Force One, dividing them into three eras. By the end of the book you'll really appreciate these free mini-movie/commercials that we all alternately enjoy and hate yet use to decide whether to see a movie or not.

I saw the author on tv and thought this book would be a perfect gift for my friend who can't get a date to save his life. I ended up giving him a bottle of bourbon and keeping the book for myself.
Ms. Pincott wrote a book that guys can use.
I mean, it looks kind of girly but it's full of well researched scientific facts.
I had no idea that there is a reason I turn my head to the right when I kiss. Who knew?
This book is like eavesdropping on a girls night out.
I found myself digging through my toolbox for my tape measure to find out my digit ratio. Strong silent type.
There are many questions in this book which I thought were truly helpful to a man. It's like having a hot woman friend tell you the truth about sex and dating.

LOVE this book!!

Yay!! Finally! Some reasoning behind all those questions we have! Why DO we want to be super skinny even though logically we know it's less attractive? Why DO we fall for the bad boy when Mr. Perfect is standing right next to us? Years of research have been conducted for these questions and so many more, only we don't have to go digging thru endless university studies or blow the dust off piles of reference books in the basement of our local libraries ... Jena Pincott did all the sifting and filtering for us! She's handed us a concise, comprehensive, well researched, scientifically-based answer to each relationship question we've ever had wrapped up in small, easy-to-swallow, purple-tinted chapters. It's perfect! Perfect to read for your own curiosity, perfect as a gift to a recently dumped girlfriend, perfect to use in arguments with your partner ...

The only thing left now that we have the reasons behind our feelings/choices is the answers on what to do about changing them. This is not a criticism of Mrs. Pincott, mind you (she definitely accomplished her goal in this book of reasons) but more of a plea from a reader/fan for a follow-up book with the scientific solutions to consciously alter our perceptions to making better relationship choices.

As the Amazon review says, this is hardly the sappy fare you'd expect from a book so titled... actually, one of my favourites was the piece from Joyce Carol Oates, although I found the piece by Katherine Weber less entertaining. In any case, this is a very sharp collection of essays and excerpts about love.

What a gem of a collection! Writers new to me as well as some favorites are all wonderful and charming and loose and intelligent in this odd little collection. The only one that disappointed was Joyce Carol Oates, but only one dud isn't bad. Some of these essays are as good or better than fiction by these illustrious authors. Perfect for book discussion groups.

I have recently delved into the art of using the Tarot in combination with spell castings and have found that Tarot seems to enhance my spellcasting to the point of success in ways that delight and surprise me - which is why the Craft appealed to me in the first place. This book gave me some very workable options to try, and they were practical and useful. The caveat here is that there is no substitute for knowledge and the use of ones own creativity, focus and intent. With this in mind, I found the book's content useful and my casting more effective, enhancing my own life.

I Love This Book!

As a professional eco-friendly interior designer, I find Harmonious Environment: Beautify, Detoxify & Energize Your Life, Your Home & Your Planet by Norma Lehmeier Hartie to be an indispensable tool for my work.

This book started the "green part" of my career. The sections on green living and green products for the home, along with the hundreds of resources, taught me everything I need to know--and where to purchase--green products for the home. There is also a chapter on organic and healthy food and eco-friendly personal care products and on cleaning supplies.

I utilize the tips on organizing and de-cluttering for my clients, too. (For those clients that simply can't get rid of stuff or organize, I give them the book as a gift! It works!)

The sections on Feng Shui are fantastic. Hartie makes difficult concepts easy to understand and execute. I also appreciate the fact that she takes Feng Shui into the 21st century and advises based on Western culture what makes sense. Superstitions based on eastern culture from 1000's of years ago are replaced with down-to-earth and timely advice.

As an interior designer, color is a big part of my job. Hartie incorporates the psychology of color into decorating and this works really well. For example, cool colors like purples and blues work best in rooms that need quiet--like bedrooms--because they will decrease your blood pressure and allow you to rest.

The book has tons of information, but it is easily understood and includes a good index for future reference.

Harmonious Environment is a must-have!

Awesome Must Read!

Harmonious Environment: Beautify, Detoxify & Energize Your Life, Your Home & Your Planet, by Norma Lehmeier Hartie, is an indispensable reference book for anyone who cares about their health and well being and for the future of the planet.

Hartie concisely covers a wide range of subjects and includes a comprehensive listing of advisory organizations, product and service resources. Part I of the book, "Banish the Ugly from Your Life," is a blueprint for green, sustainable living. Discover how to replace toxic and unsustainable products from household cleaners to food (including recipes) to furniture to personal care products with safe, eco-friendly ones. Hartie is the tough but motivational Life Coach in her approach to cleaning, removing clutter and on organizing the home or office.

Part II, "Bring in the Beautiful to Create a Harmonious Environment and Self," includes a chapter on Earth-based spirituality and a fascinating look at the Four Elements (Earth, Fire, Air and Water) and the Medicine Wheel. The core of Hartie's philosophy blossoms in Chapter Seven, "Applying Harmonious Adjustments(tm): Using Feng Shui and Other Techniques for Powerful Results." Unlike other Feng Shui authors, Hartie has experience as a designer and her skills are apparent in this chapter and the following two. She has combined principles of Feng Shui, the Four Elements, color, energy, Vastu, creative visualization, and good design principles that create a unique and eclectic approach to home decorating. Finally, Hartie provides guidance on how to manifest personal or professional desires.

In Part III, "Putting the Pieces Together," Hartie skillfully integrates the many subjects of the book into a unified and cohesive whole.

At its cover price of $19.95, Harmonious Environment is a value alone for the comprehensive green living product suppliers in the Resources section.

What makes this book so truly ambitious, however, is what lies beneath the surface. In a sense, this book is only marginally about decorating ones home per se; it is a tome about personal transformation and about saving the earth. A theme that runs throughout the book is that all beings on earth are interconnected energetically. It is empowering to read that each person has the ability to manipulate their homes and self to both raise the collective energy and to manifest their own desires. Motivational, enlightening and well organized, Harmonious Environment is one remarkable book.

I agree with the previous review. I have read other Law Of Attraction books and this stands out by far. Do not think that because it was written so long ago that its message cannot be understood by contemporary minds.. On the contrary, Mr. Sears does an EXCELLENT job of EXPANDING the same message many of you have seen in the movie, "The Secret". Buy this book and read it SEVERAL TIMES...let the wisdom sink deep into your subconscious and watch those vibes increase!

Best book by far on "Law of Attraction"

Review Date: 2006-10-05
This book is a rare gem in the ever-growing plethora of "manifestation books." It is written with an unforgetable eloquence and insight which conveys that its author, F.W. Sears, really EXPERIENCED what he was writing about.

It deserves many readings until the reader has really grasped and FELT the truths contained. Sears himself suggests that the book many need to be read many times before its message is embodied by the reader.

"The third thing is to remember that this book only teaches how to grow a constructive and harmonious consciousness; you will have to do the work of applying its lessons. New habits are not formed in a day and the lessons which this book teaches will not be absorbed in one reading...
It is dependent on you alone as to how valuable this book becomes to you. The author has proven for himself everything he teaches. He knows that everything he says is true, and you can know it too but you will have to apply the lessons and prove them for yourself... You will note that the author does not quote any authorities for any of his statements. The highest authority any soul can possibly have is its own God-self and it is this God-self in you which the proper and persistent study and application of these lessons will bring out into greater expression, and thus enable you to set the new causes in motion which will bring you success along any line you may desire. "

It is a short book which can easily be read in an evening, and thereafter in bite-sized pieces just to keep its message fresh.

The book deals with the contrast between the "Law of Harmonious Attraction," which essentially is the law that binds the Universe together, and the man-made Law of Force which we see operating everywhere in our world today.

The only problem is that the Law of Force requires constantly renewed application of force to maintain whatever it brings, whereas the Law of Harmonious Attraction can operate effortlessly and eternally.

"While it is true that under the Law of Force we can and do manipulate people and things, just as the chickens run after and snatch the food from each other, and we can achieve temporary success and obtain large fortunes as long as we exert the stronger force, yet the time always comes somewhere down the line of our cosmic journey when some other life is able to manipulate the Law of Force in a stronger way than we and then our fortunes begin to crumble and melt away. Under the Law of Harmonious Attraction the manipulation of people and things belongs to God the great Universal Law and is a part of the work with which we have absolutely nothing to do. "

There are many fascinating insights in this book--such as the different levels of consciousness in human beings and how they operate; what happens to human consciousness after death; why people fail in maintaining a "success consciousness"---and how to correct this.

"An examination into the consciousness and habits of such persons [who do not "succeed" in harmonious attraction] showed that their work was done under more or less of a strain; that they were invariably anxious or tense, rarely ever relaxing, with the result that they generated an inharmonious energy, constructed an inharmonious wall around them in which they were enclosed like a shell; this prevented the things that they had created, and which stood just outside of this wall or shell, from entering their atmosphere and materializing in form. "

Although the principles in the book will be familiar to readers who have already gone through the many books on "Attraction," there is a rare depth, feeling, and authenticity in the way these principles are described and elucidated in this book.

I have read and greatly benefited from most of the current literature on manifestation and attraction---"Abraham," Vitale, Losier, Dyer and many others, but I think this book "says it all" with great eloquence and above all a practical simplicity which you can really apply and use.

Its message will reverberate with you every day and slowly, as its principles are applied, you just may see miracles manifest in your life.

I loved this book so much. A little new agey, at times, but I found much of what it said to hold true and I have seen people do/pray the things in this book and have it work for them. In order to attract good and healty relationships or even jobs, one must get rid/heal the baggage and really check that they aren't continuing to attract/put out negative messages out there to repeat history. I have started to see some results in my own life and peace of mind, utilizing this book. I plan on getting rid of alot of my self help books and keeping this one, as well as give it as gifts to friends. It was a gift to me, and I was leary of the psychic tie in, but I really found it inspirational, common sense and loved the real life stories illustrating the points.

Tired of all those confusing opinions about your love life?

Review Date: 1999-10-06
Sharon S. Brehm is a respected social psychologist who has composed a witty, fun, and insightful tome regarding the many fascinating contributions her field has made to the study of love relationships. Popular press books may or may not offer valid advice--they aren't relying on scientific research, but rather on opinions (which often conflict with the opinions found in still other books). Brehm offers her readers information that is reliable and valid, and perhaps most importantly, useful. Better still, her book is equally applicable for men and women. As a psychology professor and a consultant for individuals seeking their life mate, I read and use many books--texts and popular press--on this issue. Brehm's book is among my most trusted resources, and it gives readers the best of all worlds: excellent and engaging writing that is easily understood, information that is eminently useful, and solid research evidence rather than opinion alone. Should you live together? Does marriage really make people happier than if they had remained single? What attracts romantic partners? If you want "just the facts," this is the place to go for them. (If you want opinion-type popular-press books that support "the facts" and thus really do give good advice, I highly recommend "If I'm So Wonderful, Why Am I Still Single?" by Susan Page, as well as "How to Find the Love of Your Life," by Ben Dominitz, "The Rules," by Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider [note: "The Rules" are for women only], and "Mars and Venus on a Date," by John Gray.)

Understand your own intimate relationships better!

Confused about your conflicts with your significant other? Do you want to find out why people are attracted to some people but not others? Reading this book for my sociology class in college allowed me to better comprehend my own relationships. The book collects together social psychological research on intimate relationships, discussing such topics as attraction, sexuality, power, conflict, loneliness, and relationship development. Unlike other non-scholarly books written about relationships, this text is based on studies published by psychologists. Their conclusions can help you better understand your own relationships, but of course each individual person may differ from what sociologists generally conclude about human beings. Even though this book was written for psychology courses, the text is not too difficult to understand. This book is extremely interesting, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has been, wants to be, or is currently in a relationship - which is, basically, everyone
