The problem about getting hardcovers of natural wonders like rivers is that all too often the data becomes obsolete after a couple years. For this case is seems that it's still pretty to date, but check on the web anyways just in case conditions change.
Great Resourse GuideReview Date: 2002-07-02
This book has to all to plan an outing, the maps, river description, challenge, a "standard time factor" and excellent commentary on the expectation of the canoe trip. The Senior Patrol Leader Council, the event planning committee of Boy Scouts aged 14-17, was able to take this book and properly plan, organize and execute several canoe trips. It had all the information needed to make the proper decisions without having to go visit the river first, or rely on comments from someone who knows someone who said that access to the river was available from County Road 48.
The Scout Troop now uses this book as a first resourse for planning canoe trips in Michigan and has greatly aided the exploration of the rivers of Michigan with confidence!

The only thing wrong with this book is you can hardly ever find a copy. If you find one, grab it. ( I don't know what's going on but there were about 10 reviews of this book here, all of them glowing, and they seem to have been erased. Everyone in Driving knows how great this book is.)

"Are the stars out tonight...?"Review Date: 2006-07-30
But assuming that Clarence Darrow Dershowitz Kunstler Belli Nizer, Esq. isn't in your crew, Mary Blewitt's book is a good thing to have. Brief, concise, and Ptolemaically simple to understand, Blewitt takes the hocus-pocus out of asking the heavens for directions. The difficulty with learning celestial nav isn't so much the math (as most people want to believe) as it is that modern man is SO far out of touch with the natural world that looking at the night sky is like looking at---something dark and mysterious. However, add a few very basic, easy-to-grasp concepts to your skill set and your Sunfish will suddenly become the Santa Maria.
Knowing celestial navigation will help you to sail anywhere and, even better, to know where you are when you get there. To that end, this book is an invaluable learning tool.

Locating Fishing Spots in the CarolinasReview Date: 2007-02-15
Lots of Great InformationReview Date: 2006-08-12
It's pretty cool when the author mentions pier owners, bait and tackle owners, etc. by name. This book is really a must read for folks wanting to fish the Carolina coast!
Highly recommended.
Finally a specific fishing book!Review Date: 2006-01-14
The book reads like a conversation with and old fisherman on a pier or in a tackle shop. The author covers all the bases like where to shop, what to buy, how to rig it up, where to go, how to cast, where to cast, how to set the hook, where to put the catch, how to cook it, etc. This is not the modern "magazine article" style of book, it's an old school how to catch fish book.
Something to consider...
The book is mostly text and some basic B/W images and illustrations. You must be prepared to do some reading before you go fishing. This is not a skim fast and go fishing today book.
If you live in the area or plan to visit, it is a great resource.

Completely complete! -- a must-have book for coaches at all levels!Review Date: 2005-12-21
The Complete Guide To Girls' Basketball is far and away the most complete book I have read on the basics, fundamentals, and strategies of basketball. This is a great book for coaches at all levels; girl's or boy's. Coach Mullaney didn't just slap some notes between a book cover; he obviously put forth a lot of time and effort writing this book. It is extremely well organized, easy to read, and simple to understand.
The main thing I like about this book, in comparison to many of the other 'guides', is that it goes well beyond the basic cookie-cutter information. The basics are discussed, but Coach Mullaney goes further and describes more in-depth and pertinent topics, ideas, and drills. That is why this book is not only great for the first-time coach, but also for even the most experienced of coaches at all levels of play.
I also really enjoy Part One of the book, where Coach Mullaney guides you through developing your own plan, philosophy and communication skills. This is an area I would have found invaluable when I first began coaching.
The Complete Guide To Girls' Basketball also details offense, defense, and special situations by breaking down all the skills involved and teaching how to perform them effectively. The drills section is also very well put together with over 200 exceptional drills - with easy to follow diagrams. All facets of the game are touched on so you can use these drills to help prepare yourself or your team.
The title says, 'The Complete Guide to Girls' Basketball', which it most certainly! If you coach girls basketball, this book is must-have addition to your library. If you coach boys basketball, I also recommend this book...there are so many great ideas in here it is worth checking out! If you want to improve your coaching knowledge and coaching skills, The Complete Guide to Girls' Basketball deserves a look!

A Great Book! You determine if he is guilty or not guiltyReview Date: 2008-01-24
This book mainly describes James trouble childhood, and continues into his ever troublesome life. Its a must read if you were affected by the Great Flood of 1993.
It also goes into great detail about the ever so infamous Webster School Fire. I'm firefighter and paramedic now. I have heard many stories and tales regarding the Webster School Fire. I've seen pictures from that day.
An awesome book that lets the reader decide whether he is guilty or not guilty!

Truly Appalling Tale of True Crime and Presumed GuiltReview Date: 2008-01-16
The law against "Causing a Catastrophe" is alive and well in Missouri, and a Class A felony.
Missouri Revised Statutes 569.070.
1. A person commits the crime of causing catastrophe if he knowingly causes a catastrophe by explosion, fire, flood, collapse of a building, release of poison, radioactive material, bacteria, virus or other dangerous and difficult to confine force or substance.
The problem with Mr. Scott's trial was just how was the prosecution able to know that Jimmy "knowingly" caused a catastrophe? This book gives you the opportunity to be the judge.
"Damned to Eternity" could have been written to tell the story from a non-personal viewpoint and still have been a good non-fiction book. What sets this book so much apart from its non-fiction counterparts is the way it brings you to the events that happened. You literally get into the mind of Jimmy Scott and learn about the things that caused law enforcement to go out and practically hang this guy before even being benefited the "luxury" of a trial. Mr. Scott's trial afforded him no "luxuries", however. Had this trial and flood occurred today, no doubt it would have been all over Court T.V. Had the public been more informed about this trial, perhaps the outcome would have been different as well. Pitluk's work certainly brings that question to light.
This book reminded me of Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood" because of the intense relationship you develop with Jimmy Scott as you read. Having a legal background, I am appalled at the events surrounding the trial and the course of events that took place in convicting and sentencing Mr. Scott. The way the prosecution established Mr. Scott's "intent" and motive is unbelievable.
Pitluk's research, investigating, and writing are guilty of "Intentionally Causing the Writing of a Good Book". A+++++!
