This book is recommended for experienced antenna guys, both engineers and professors, especially those who are looking for magic small form-factor antennas for wireless applications. You do not need much mathematic background to read this book. As stated in the preface of the book, the author explored issues relate to three seemingly different fields of antenna design, yet extracted something in common that limit performance: low radiation resistance, high reactance, low efficiency, narrow bandwidth, and increased loss in matching networks.

I recommend this book to all antenna design engineers.

Good as a preview before the test and helps solve the assigments

This book traces the development of electronics, especially radio, from semiphore signals through television. It presents the human side of technical developments, like Edison and de Forrest puzzling over the black spot that forms on light bulbs as they near burning out. Their curiosity over that black spot led to vacuum tubes and modern electronics. The book also gets into the very technical and explains in detail how superheterodyne receivers work and why they are far superior to tuned radio frequency circuits. Anyone interested in electronics needs to read this book at some point.

This is an excellent book - much more than just a compilation of Wiley's earlier works on ELINT. This is also an excellent source for information on what drives and constrains radar design.

Informed, stylishly written, and fun to read, Edward D. Miller's book Emergency Broadcasting is a must -- especially for anyone interested in a new take on the history of American radio.

Miller skillfully connects radio's "intimate otherness" to various manifestations of the Uncanny (including Hamlet's Ghost, the delusions of paranoids and schizophrenics, and the voices of presidents). He does a close reading of three major broadcasting events of the '30s -- the reporting of the Hindenberg disaster; President Roosevelt's "Fireside Chats"; and Orson Welles's famous "War of the Worlds" broadcasts -- to show how radio both reassures and frightens the listener. A reinterpretation of the classical Echo and Narcissus myth in another chapter stretches his analogy about vocal disembodiment a bit too far into the ether. But Miller returns to earth to show the relevance of the myth to today's media landscape.

The book concludes with a chapter drawing parallels between 1930s American radio and the Internet, which will, I'm sure, surprise and delight many students as well as critics of "the virtual community."

An excellent book for those considering using solar or other alternative power sources. It's also useful for folks wanting to know how to use a generator or other sources during power failures or wiring their home for standby use.

One of the most terrific easy desk and field references ever produced! Most valuable info, ever, in such a small package.

This particular edition is hard to find (unfortunately).

Comes in handy when you least expect it.

Especially good and recommended for our foreign (non-native-English) students in any engineering discipline, new students, transfer students, and serious hobbyists and inventors in electronics.

Singhal has done some of the finest work every not only documenting but explaining the success of a powerful behavioral intervention--entertainment education. This highly readable and informative book should be required reading for every public policy and Non Profit leader in the world. If it were, the quality of their work would substantially improve.

This book gives a fine introduction, forms of communication, history, developement of the vacuum tube, radio circuit and other applications of electronics, sound, frequency ranges of sound waves, etc. It provides diagrames & photos of circuit analysis, resisters, rheostats, potentiometers, inductors, receiving circuits, vacuum tubes and so much more. Excellent source of the development and use of radio in electronics.
