Being suddendly thrown into the role of Executor when my Mom passed away plunged me into the complex world of handling an Estate. I took out every relevant book from the local library and found this State-specific book to be the most useful for my situation. No one book answers everything... you still want a lawyer (this author has a book about selecting lawyers which I'm going to check out). This book is worthwhile enough that I just ordered my own copy to have for ready reference. The author has this same subject for a number of other States.

Michael Hardy's Handbuilding is a ceramics handbook that would be a perfect choice for any art school interested in the traditional methods of handbuilding ceramics outside of the potter's wheel. This introduction to techniques covers everything from construction to controlling drying and slab building and is an excellent guide for ceramic artists interested in the revitalized art of handbuilding.

Christian Secret to A Happy Life

I cannot recommend this Christian Classic enough! For those who are interested in those "so-called" deeper truths of a Christian's walk with the Lord it cannot be beat! I say "so-called" because as this wonderful Quaker lady points out there is such JOY when we are WALKING with the Lord Jesus Christ, our God, as God intended us to do: as His obedient and fully trusting child!
This book is NOT only highly accurate theologically, but is very practical, and written on a level that the average person would find extremely readable. It starts out good and gets better with each chapter!
It is written to be highly encouraging, using many examples of our relationship with God as found in human relationships with each other: especially realtionship of child to parent.
It becomes readily apparent that Hannah speaks from experience, NOT just head knowledge. She writes with the same JOY that she must have lived her life on earth. Want JOY as a Christian? Then READ and APPLY! A highly practical and delightful book, easy to read for the ones seeking, The WAY, The TRUTH, and the LIFE (John 14:6)

Civil War historical novel is a winner

This is aimed at younger readers, but I found it well written, an engrossing romp through the unpopulated areas of North Central Pennsylvania. Set in 1861, and based on fact, the authors weave a captivating tale of uneducated backwoodsmen going off to fight in the Civil War. The title comes from the men not knowing left from right, so to teach marching, hay was tied to left foot, straw to right. An excellent first novel for these writers.

A well written, thorough and thoughtful review of a complex topic. She starts with the many types of pain, covers the history of pain treatments, evaluates the biological models of pain, expands on the diagnosis of pain and a multitude of treatments. An important area she covers very well is the stress and psychology of pain. Anyone that has experienced or is experiencing chronic pain in any way would benefit from reading this book from cover to cover.

If you are studying Byzantine iconography, you must have this book or at least read it. It consists of a number of articles by experts in the field, who are writing about the subject from various points of views - icons in connection to Byzantine (Christian Orthodox) theology, Byzantine liturgy, architecture, manuscript illumination, society in general.
The book that I ordered from Amazon came in the perfect shape, completely new and shiny. Furthermore, it arrived even before I expected it. All in all, the service was without a spot.

Nice design by Philadelphia firm of Joel Katz who have formatted the information in a user-friendly layout. Maps, color coding and tabs make it very easy to locate specific gardens.
The photographs by Rob Cardillo are beautiful and, even at their small size, capture the gardens at their peak.
Adam Levine's brief descriptions and histories of each garden are succint without being overly dry.
My one disappointment is that, with the exception of the Azalea Gardens by the Art Museum, the Japanese House, and the West Laurel Hill Cemetery, and a brief description of the Horticultural Center, the authors do not detail the scope, history, and hidden gems of the Fairmount Park system.
Granted, and due to the state of upkeep, the park may no longer be called "great." But the park is still the "lungs of the city" and has its surprises: The miraculous row of dozens of cherry trees that create a wonderful pink line towards the Japanese House every Spring, and the natural walking and bike paths that surround the Horticultural Center are just a couple of these "secret" gems.
At a time when Philadelphians are talking of creating new green areas, Fairmount Park deserves our attention, our love, and our care.
Overall, a very good guide to Philadelphia garden treasures for visitors and locals alike.
