Accommodation Books

I'm sorry, but the book says Greek Island Hopping...it does not say Greek Island Hopping during the High season only. I went to the islands in March and the book was unhelpful because all of the information provided was for the high season. It was difficult to use the ferry information because it was WRONG. The island descriptions were accurate, but it was hard to use this book as a planning guide because it was not made for ALL travelers...only those in the high season. If you are going between October and April, I would not recommend this book.

Is there any books on hostels in Europe that are not out of print

This book is more for entertainment than practical use. On a trip to France in December 2006, I stayed at several bed & breakfasts.

I had much better luck going directly on the internet to find information and descriptions of available properties.

This book is not worth the money!

This book had a number of problems, including wrong address information for several sites, mislabeled maps, etc. The suggestions made were as per usual with LP guides, excellent, but when the map and direction goofs adding so much time in looking for things in the book or on the wrong streets, the advantages of having a pocket guideare quickly lost.

I recently ordered this book - what a disappointment! This book profiles luxury beach hotels around the world and includes leading hotels in locales such as the Seychelles, Maldives, Oman, Bora Bora and numerous other places. There are two problems however. First, the quality of the pictures is inconsistent - some pictures are good but there are too many that are blurry. Also, many of the pictures are from the hotels themselves. The problem with this is that the pictures can be found on the websites of these hotels already and can be viewed for free. Second, the descriptions of the hotels are poorly written and provide next to no information. I could go on but why bother - Skip this one!

We were disappointed that the book only includes a few large cities. We will be on the road for three months and are interested in restaurants where we can bring our dog and dog parks to visit.
Out of the whole book, there are only two cities we will be visiting. Just too limited in scope

If your going to Great Britain this book looks like it would be pretty darn good. It covers England, Wales, Scotland and even has some on France. I purchased thinking it was for the US. MY MISTAKE!

There appears to be a trend in B&B review guides where no actual recommendations are provided -- they just compile information about the B&Bs (making one wonder how much first-hand research was involved.) This book has no recommendations for B&Bs, other than a list at the beginning that categorizes each B&B under something like "Most Romantic B&Bs" or "Best Seaside B&B".

While having all the data in one place is useful, you can find most of this information on-line, or from various B&B brochures. What I wanted to know was which B&B's the author recommended, and what were the best features (and significant problems) with each B&B.

The only book I've seen that seemed to have some actual recommendations (and research) done in it was the Fodor's book on Pacific NW B&Bs.

I found this book to be fairly worthless in planning my trip to Spain. The pictures and descriptions are far less than what is freely available on the internet.

This little book of recommended "special places to stay" lacks many special places. It gives very good information on the places it does mention, but leaves out many areas. I didn't find it worth my money at all.
