I have had the opportunity of training with Michelle in the past, and was amazed at my results!! This book is invaluable to women everywhere, as it contains ALL of the information she gives to her personal training clients (for $1200), yet it's in the palm of your hand.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone out there who is ready and willing to challenge themselves in order to see the person inside of them they've always known was there, yet haven't seen in a while or never had the opportunity to let shine through. Her results speak for themselves!!! 13 months after giving birth to her 3rd and 4th child (twins by c-section) she was in incredible shape. This book is a MUST READ!!!

I've been part of Michelle's BUFFMOTHER Rally Room for over two years now. It's a place with an amazing positive force. I have applied much of what Michelle teaches into my workouts over the years and have seen some Great Results and I'm currently training with her personally and can't wait to see how I can change even more!! I knew she was writing her book over the years and couldn't wait for it to come out.
When it did, I was so impressed by the book that I bought 5 more as gifts for my daughters and girlfriends. To be able to understand and work with your hormones is SO valuable!! She has a way of writing that really helps you to understand the cycle and the reasons we feel the way we do at certain times of the month and then how to work with those times in our eating and workouts. Why not work WITH your Hormomes instead of Against them!! Also in the book she shares information to her Rallyroom, her supplements and how you can Build a Better Legacy for yourelf.

This is the kind of help that you will be desperate for about a month before finals. Ideally, you will have received this book with plenty of time to digest it, work the examples and really get comfortable, but I am positive that even if I had picked up this book the day before my first final, I would have gotten some benefit from it.

While I was lucky enough to have one professor who was full of real advice about taking his exam, the others ranged from vague to totally and purposefully unhelpful. With this book, you have a leg-up.

All of Delaney's books are very useful, but they require you to do your diligent best to work through the examples and questions. If you do, you will benefit greatly.

I just finished my first semester of law school, and this book was invaluable. I read it before the semester started, which I highly recommend, and then reviewed it before finals week. It takes away much of the mystery of the "fact pattern"-based essay exam, and gave me the tools and strategies to write quick, concise analysis. I've only received one grade so far, but it was an A! I felt very confident about my performance on the exams, and it was, in large part, because this book taught me how to practice for the exams, and how to study. I absolutely recommend this book for any first year law student, or law students who didn't do so well in the past.

Must-Get Resource BEFORE Entering Law School
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 10 total.
Review Date: 2008-01-15
First, I should begin by saying what has turned out to be true. Law school is tough. It is extremely challenging, the amount of information is overwhelming, and the in-class atmosphere is unnerving. It is, I believe, more different and difficult than most undergrad and grad students realize.

Second, your time constraints will be intense. If you undertake an earnest effort to read your cases, properly brief, use resources such as hornbooks and outline, you will probably not have enough time to develop the skills necessary to write an effective exam-answer during law school.

Last, it is why this book is so important to read and prior to entering law school: difficulty of exams, complexity of material, vast amounts of information and reading, intense time constraints, and most importantly, your grade will be determined by your final exam performance.

SOME COMMENTARY ON LAW EXAMS & SOCRATIC METHOD (*WARNING*)
I would be disingenuous and perhaps remiss if I did not seize a good opportunity to complain about law school to those considering attending law school. Do not fret, I will try to be brief. I think after the first or second semester of law school, you acquire the analytical skills, discipline, and ability to read and understand complex material at a maximum level. I am skeptical that a second year of law school is necessary, let alone a third year. The second-year should consist of skills development, job-training, and some classroom work. The third-year should be eliminated or optional for those that want more education or specialization (such as an LLM). Most (all?) countries do not have law schools in the way the United States does; instead, students study law as undergrads or earn a master's in law.

LAW SCHOOL EXAMS
Your law school grade is, exclusive of everything else (class participation, research papers, group projects, etc.) based on the final exam. You will not obtain credit for research papers, drafting memorandum, participating in class, or for group projects. Your entire grade is based on the final. It is a bizarre if not backward way of measuring a person's ability to think like a lawyer.

It behooves you to develop exam-taking skills now if you are a serious student and hope to succeed in law school.

SOCRATIC METHOD
In some respects, I think my speaking ability has slightly diminished as a result of the socratic method. I find it especially jarring when a law student is called-on to recite a fact-pattern or passage. I think it is completely unnecessary for students to have to read paragraphs and mostly a waste of time. If some of you were like me, you probably participated in class actively as an undegrad or grad students, were always well prepared, and most-likely shined in class discussions. Law school is more challenging to shine in class because the amount of material is considerable and complex, and the professor will ask you questions that will probably tongue-tie you. And this will occur in class, surrounded by nearly 100 of your classmates, depending on your school. You are, however, expected to be well-prepared for class and you will be called upon at random.

I dislike the socratic method because it makes law students unnecessarily neurotic and undermines learning. In business school, for example, students' participation was often (but not always) grounded in real-life experiences that enhanced discussion and added flavor to debate.

Law school classroom discussions are an altogether different atmosphere, and I think a rather deficient method of teaching.

As an aside, I wish law schools would format classroom participation in a similar way such as at the London School of Economics. You attend a lecture by a professor for around an hour or so. You can ask questions during the prof's lecture but it is primarily the prof's perspective on the material. Then in the evening you attend a group discussion with a Ph.D. candidate, where participation is the focus. Everyone has an opportunity to speak, raise questions, engage in debate, and so forth. You attain a deeper, more sophisticated understanding of the subject material and acquire strong communication skills in the process.

The combination of your grade being based solely on the final exam and the socratic method make law school a much more challenging, stressful, and somewhat confusing experience than it has to be. Be prepared.

USEFULNESS OF THE BOOK
You are the individual responsible for your education and grades. I find classroom learning, in law school, to be inadequate. I have found learning from casebooks to be particularly inadequate. Law school is about YOU, the law student, and less about reading cases and fretting about the socratic method. It is about YOU in terms of your skills, abilities, and exam performance. It is a strange if not deficient way to exclusively measure law school performance, but it is the system.

Reading this book and preparing in earnest will provide you with an understanding on how to analyze complex legal material. You need to learn the material and work with it daily. Reading a case and briefing it is not sufficient to do well. Law school is not college; it is a challenging and complex job.

Your ability to issue-spot on law exams should improve, which is a critical exam-taking skill. The author explains how to anticipate issues, identify primary and secondary issues, and how to explain and illustrate the issues you spotted. Spotting issues, though critical, is not sufficient on law exams. You will be expected to supply a lawyerly analysis of each and every issue as it relates to the fact pattern on a law school exam. Serious preparation, a whole lot of practice, and a bit of luck are all necessary.

You will also learn to outline, and I would not rely on others' outlines in law school. The most important part of outlining is the process of studying, creating your own outline. It will be how you learn the material, and you should use a good hornbook in making your outline. Outlining is not sufficient in law school. The best outline in the world will not help you if you do not prepare and practice regularly.

The book will help you with understanding your own learning strategy, which is vital to know prior to entering law school. You need to know how to study, prepare, and practice law school exams prior to entering. The book also provides excellent practice essay exams with answers.

CONCLUSION
I confidently recommend HOW TO DO YOUR BEST ON LAW SCHOOL EXAMS for those interested in preparing for law school. I have read many and varied "law school prep" books and courses. Many are inadequate, some are useless, and others provide bad advice. Success in law school is determined by one and only one measure: the final exam. If you are considering or are about to attend law school, it is wise to pick-up this book to better understand and prepare for law school exams. Law school is an intellectual privilege, although I am somewhat skeptical of its value after the first-year.

You must get-through (survive) law school to practice law. I wish you the best of luck in the endeavor. Never forget to pursue Justice and defend the Constitution.

Goodness... long review!

I hope the above was helpful.

After 25 years, the BEST Tarot book I've ever read!
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.

This book is excellent and everyone interested in Tarot needs to read it. Although it is written for the Thoth Crowley deck with specific references to symbols as they appear on the cards in that deck, I find it quite applicable to most other decks, as well. The discussion of each card is thorough and well written so that beginners will have an easy time with this book and yet be able to give themselves advanced readings through the use of the multi-leveled interpretations offered in the text.

I've been a professional Reader for over 25 years and am very well-read in the field. I can say with all sincerity that this is by far the BEST book on Tarot that I have ever read!

This book has the clearest interpretations I have ever used for the Thoth deck. It has an entire section in the back about each of the symbols in the cards which is tremendously useful. Another great feature is the quick reading "Yes/No" information for each card. The multiple level information on the trumps is great for understanding how a particular one could come up in a reading. And my favorite part of all is the "Questions to Ask" section, because they illuminate the cards so thoroughly. Simply a superb book.

"Integral Tarot" speaks for itself - integrating the Tarot into our lives on all levels - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. It is important to note that the foundation for Suzanne's work is the Thoth Tarot, by Aleister Crowley and Lady Frieda Harris. While the majority of the information contained in this book will also apply to the widely popular Rider-Waite Tarot (by Arthur Edward Waite and Pamela Coleman Smith), to have a work of this depth devoted specifically to the Thoth Tarot is a definite bonus for readers who use this deck.

Each card is presented with astrological and archetypal associations, upright and reversed interpretations, questions for the Seeker to ask themselves when the card comes up in a reading, the yes/no determination for each card (this was a new and exciting addition to Tarot interpretation for me!), quotes, the body aspect (for the Trumps), the Path (for the Trumps), Self Help (for the Trumps), positive and negative qualities (for the Court cards), and affirmations (for the Pips, or numbered cards).

There is a section called a catalog at the back of the book that discusses the major symbols found in each of the 80 cards (the Thoth Tarot has three versions of the Magus, or Magician)that is quite helpful in incorporating esoteric content into a digestible format.

There are also sections on timing, health, and yes/no/maybe cards, along with a very helpful page that lists cards associated with death, legal issues, long term potential, pregnancy, school, and change.

There is a section devoted to the upright and reversed meanings for each of the cards, as well as a section devoted to in-depth spreads.

I found this material to be well presented, easy to understand, true to traditional meanings for the Thoth Tarot, and gifting the reader with a myriad of ways to put the Tarot to work in their own lives.

Easy to follow methodology

She has integrated the science and art of symbology and made it accessible and useful.

This was so straightforward and simple - just what I needed!!

This is a very good book for learning what Tantra is and what tantric practices and visualizations are, but it should be understood - and probably is by many or most - that this is not a substitute for real study under a qualified teacher. Lama Yeshe makes this clear from chapter to chapter. My only caution is that readers should not expect to read this book and feel as though they are completing some kind of introductory-level "training" in Tantra, or that they will accomplish "Transformation of Desire." It is an introduction and overview for outsiders looking in (taught by a highly qualified and respected insider), not a "manual" for beginning practitioners to achieve readiness for intermediate or advanced tantric instruction. Insofar as this is understood, Lama Yeshe does a very good job describing and explaining Tantra and its practices, and I learned quite a lot about it.

I've had this book for probably 6 years and still play it everyday. I love these pieces. I was a piano minor in college and I used these as recital pieces many times. I would call them moderate difficulty. A great variety of songs from Rag to classical. I really have enjoyed this book through the years.

I got this for my mom, who is a concert pianist, as she has been having eye problems. She enjoyed the book as it had so many classic pieces that she is familiar with. The only negative is that she said the material is simplified due to the large print. It was easy for her to add notes in between, but for someone looking for more advanced music, they may be a bit disappointed.

Okay so I said in a previous review that if I had to keep only one book to play from, it would be "The Piano Bench Of Classical Music" available here on Amazon. I am not disputing that it is indeed a great book to have in your collection because it really is, but over time I'm finding myself grabbing this particular book (Library Of Piano Classics) to play from because of the vast array of enjoyable songs. 350 pages, 90 intermediate/advanced songs, plastic coil binding, GREAT SELECTION OF SONGS OVERALL! I also have book 2 of this collection, it's good but I don't play from it as often as I do from this book.

Some songs in this book worth mentioning:

Fantasy in D Minor (Mozart)
Nocturne Op. 72, No. 1 (Chopin)
Valse Op. 64, No.2 (Chopin)
Mazurka in A minor (Chopin)
Valse Op. 69, No. 2 (Chopin)
Liebestraum (Liszt)
Nocturne (Field)
Serenade (Schubert)
Anitra's Dance (Grieg)
Prelude (No. 1 from The Well-Tempered Clavier (Bach)
Fantasie-Impromptue (Chopin) - Incredible song but too difficult for me!
Hungarian Dance No. 5 (Brahms)
Golliwog's Cake-walk (Debussy)
Song of India (Rimsky-Korsakov)
Prelude Op. 3, No. 2 (Rachmaninoff)
(Rondo) Alla Turca (Mozart)
Venetian Boat Song (Mendelssohn)

Also contains some of the more overplayed classics like Fur Elise & Moonlight Sonata (Beethoven), Air (Bach), and Claire de Lune (Debussy). Still, a great collection overall.

This is my new best book. Try it, you'll like it!

After taking Patrick's meditation workshop on applying "The Secret" to your own life, and having it be my 1st meditation experience ever, I was hungry for more and asked Patrick specifically if he could recommend a book with a cd for follow up on meditation practice. He grinned and produced a book without even telling me it was his own. The book is a great read, and has a meditation cd on the back cover.
I truly believe the soul is magical and is working round the clock in ways we don't often notice. When we open our hearts, we will see manifestation of just what we wish for appear at just the right time, before our very eyes. Patrick's work is truly inspirational. Bought them as gifts for my soul circle of friends. Highly recommend.

Patrick Harbula's "Magic of the Soul" is one of those rare books that I picked up and could not put down, and that I have revisited many times as a source of inspiration and enlightenment. As a child, I loved watching magic acts and was mesmerized as I observed magicians seemingly pulling things out of nothing and transforming objects. Throughout this book, Patrick reminds us that our spiritual nature enables us to perform this "magical process" of calling forth greater goodness into our lives and our world than we have ever known. I particularly appreciated his practical insights on how we can transform our life challenges into something good and meaningful without denying the pain or discomfort we experience as we move through them. I cannot thank Patrick enough for the ways that his work has enriched my life, and how it has supported me in my work as a minister and spiritual counselor.

The origami collected in the book is very interesing. Also the instruction is as detail as everyone-can-do. The only cons is the instruction is on the back of the paper you use for the origami, which means either you have to figure out a way to follow the instruction during the process, or you use other paper.

This is one of the best origami books ever written. My all-time favourite model John Montroll's Goose which I have made hundreds of times is included, along with the wonderful and now classic Rose by Kawahata, David Brill's lidded box and transparent bottle, a series of twist folded cubes and many other beautiful and stylish paperfolds too numerous to list here.

The models are not for the complete beginner but will for the most part require some experience at intermediate level and the book is a good graduation point if you wish to move on to more advanced work.

The book has stood the test of time - the original edition was first published in Japanese in 1985 and then in English in 1987 - and is as fresh and exciting to read today as it was then. I cannot recommend this book too highly.

I recently got this book for my birthday, and months from now, I'm still doing much of it. I've made nearly all of the models, and even did one of the 300 sonobe units modulars. I've tried the stegosaurus, and I'm starting to be able to clean new ones. Everything I do astounds my classmates in various classes.

Even though I've been told I'm crazy, I started the 900 unit sphere with a couple friends, and we have over 150 units put together.

This book has some models for beginners, but I'd say it's more for intermediate-advanced folders. The rose is defintely one to try, although it took me a couple tries just to get it. This is my current favorites origami book out of at least 10. A definite must-buy.

Can't put it down!

I have been reading this book and folding models every night since I bought it! It serves as a great introduction into some more advanced folding techniques. The models are very interesting and the directions are easy to follow. The book is structured like a reference book and easy to use. The pictures inside are 2 tone, but high quality.

Mollison must be credited with promotion of the concept of Permaculture and this book is a world-wide view with enough examples to stimulate the thinking of a designer in any climate. It would be the bible for anyone working as an ecological designer on a worldwide scale. This tome includes not only a wealth of information but Mollison's personal views are given at every opportunity as well. With the breadth of his knowledge it can sometimes be helpful. That said, it is not an easy read. Mollison assumes familiarity with terminology from many disciplines, but with a scientific background it makes it all the more credible.

However, since its publication, there are other books for specific climate types that provide more detail. For those living in temperate climates, particularly the NE US, Dave Jacke/Eric Toensmeier's Edible Forest Gardens is more focused. If you live and plan to practice permaculture in only such climates, it should be sufficient. For the tropics, see [...] for a manual.

There is nothing better regarding Sustainability

Bill Mollison represents the most successful attempt to mainstream practical home-scale sustainable design principles. I found myself needing to do an enormous amount of supplementary research to actually understand what bill was talking about, but to explain them in depth here would have taken away from the thrust of the book - which is mainly to show you example after example (many on every page) at sustainable principles of design put into practice.

The book remains the best book on sustainability written to date. There are some aspects of his system that are lacking that I will briefly draw attention to. Understand that I deeply appreciate his genius, but I want to just mention that these other things need to be integrated into his system to be fully fully sustainable.

1) He doesn't pay enough attention to seed saving and plant breeding. A loss of seed diversity and a re-invigoration of seed savers is essential to truly sustainable self-sufficient design.

See:
Seed to Seed - by Suzanne Ashworth and Kent Whealy
Breed your own Vegetable Varieties - by Carol Deppe

2) He very rarely mentions the role mushrooms and fungi can play in sustainability.

See:
Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World by Paul Stamets

3) He doesn't stress the science behind it enough, which is fine, but leaves you asking sometimes... how do we know this is really ecologically sound? How can I NOT imitate mr. mollison but still create an ecologically sound system? Basically, Mollison's proscriptions are incredibly scientifically informed but not always scientifically explicit.

See:
Plant Ecophysiological Ecology
New Dimensions in Agro-Ecology
Smallholders, Householders: farm families and the ecology of intensive sustainable agriculture - by Rober Netting

4) In relation to the first point, he also doesn't stress the role that evolution plays in sustainability. This is a very complicated problem, see book.

See:
Evolutionary Conservation Biology.

These are not really criticism so much as signs of slight conceptual anal retentiveness on my part... Also please don't forget mollison's OTHER books which are incredible as well, especially the permaculture book of ferment and human nutrition.

The information presented in this book is worth a semester of agriculture, chemistry, and geography classes.

I was initially set back when I went looking for a copy of this classic and discovered that there wasn't a recent printing available and all of the ones on the market were over $100 at the time. Still, I wanted to learn about Permaculture and everyone said that this was the place to start.

I am extremely happy with my decision to buck up and fork over my money. This text is the source from which all others on the topic are written and they pale in comparison.

If you are someone who is looking to homestead, or currently doing so, this book will help you plan your own gardens, manage your land as a whole, and be able to assist others in the community.

Lastly, the book is a nice hardcover, the pages are thick for a tome of this size, and the print is nice and dark. The copy in front of me has been well thumbed, tossed around, and shelved on many occassions and is still holding up nicely. Only the corners are dinged up a little.

Amazing book!

I bought this book many years ago and still find myself going back and re-reading it over and over. If you're new to the Permaculture thought process you will be knocked off your horse with the common-sense, integrated approach to gardening and farming systems. I attribute this book and the thoughts provoked by it as the catalyst in seeking integrations and aggregation on many different fronts. This will always be one of the books I will treasure. I wore off the cover and have punched holes in all the pages and keep it in a three-ring binder.

...and probably one of the most fun to read. I read the first 8 chapters while working on a permaculture site on Isla Ometepe in Nicaragua, and ordered it immediately upon returning home.

Bill Mollison carefully and beautifully lays out the theory and practice of Permaculture (permanent agriculture). Permaculture is a holistic design system that sustainably envisions, creates, and organizes the spaces that we as humans inhabit on this planet. It takes everything that I feel is good for the world-Green architecture, local food, water conservation, renewable energy, organic agriculture, etc.-and wraps them into one cohesive scheme for planning the spaces and manner in which we live.

For more information, check out the Permaculture Research Institute's page at www.permaculture.org.au, especially the quick video "Greening the Desert", which is an excellent introduction.

I hardly know where to begin when attempting to describe to you how life-changing this book truly is for the disciple of Christ. I must tell you that I would not say that about any book. So... you know that this is not just any book. This book unlocks the key to understanding true discipleship and the way by which revolution will first come to man and then to the church.

This book was originally a series of lectures given to Chinese church planters/workers. However, to recommend this book only to a select few would be absurd. This book is for all of those who have made Jesus Lord. The title of the book may be a bit ambiguous. You may be thinking... "What does that mean?" Had Dietrich Bonhoeffer not already used, "The Cost of Discipleship," I believe this would have been an appropriate title.

Scripture teaches us that man is spirit, soul, and body. Nee explains how God created man to join His Spirit with man's spirit (i.e. the center of a man). The spirit is to govern the soul of a man (i.e. thoughts, emotions, will) and then the body. He calls the spirit of a man the "inner man"; the soul--the "outer man"; the body--"the outermost man." Before the inner man is regenerated by the Holy Spirit, a man's spirit is inopperative. His spirit is there, but in fact... it is dead! The soul then tries to function as only the spirit can do. Thus, the soul produces flesh! Man is then a frustrated being.

Nee submits that most Christians live a "mixed" life. The Christian life is to be a Spirit-led and a Spirit-driven life. The Holy Spirit has regenerated the spirit of a man and is to continue to be the power that controls and governs him. However, many Christians allow their soul to interfere with the Spirit's work. Again, this produces flesh! The Spirit is hindered from joining with man's spirit while the soul of a man is not in full submission to the Spirit. (For a better understanding of what this looks like, read Nee's "The Normal Christian Life.")

Nee's "The Release of the Spirit" is about man's soul (i.e. thoughts, emotions, will) being "broken" in order for the Spirit in a man to be "released." He will base his claim on Scripture to prove this point. (e.g. 1 Thess. 5:23; Lk. 1:46; 21:19; 1 Pet. 1:9;22) Jesus said, "He who loves his life (psyche-soul), will lose it." The outer man must be continuously broken before the Spirit is released through a man.

Nee speaks from experience. There is absolutely no way a person can speak on this subject with not having first identified its activity in their own life. Nee wonderfully describes the battle going on in each Christian. Our soul wants to govern, but the Spirit must rule for God to be glorified in us. The only way this can happen... is for you and I to be broken.

Nee's conclusion is this: God has ordered our lives. The hardships, the trials and tribulation have passed through his hands first. They have come to us to break the outer man! Therefore, if you want to be used up... if you want God to get all of you... you must first be crushed! The one who is willing to suffer the most... is the one who will be used the greatest by God. This is the Christian life.

Nee writes, "Only those who have learned some lessons can serve. You may learn ten year's lessons in one year, or you may take twenty or thirty years to learn one year's lessons. ANY DELAY IN LEARNING MEANS A DELAY IN SERVING. If God has put a desire in your heart to serve Him, you should understand what is involved. The way of service lies in brokenness and is connected with your accepting the discipline of the Holy Spirit. The measure of your service is determined by the depth of discipline and brokenness."

I don't know about you... but I would like to learn ten year's lessons in one year. If I must be broken and crushed to be used greatly by the Lord for his glory... then so be it. Christ was bruised and crushed for me. It's the least I can do for him.

This book is Watchman Nee at his best! I will read this book numerous times throughout my life. I recommend reading "The Normal Christian Life" for an even further understanding of the true Christian life. May Christ's church be broken for the release of the Spirit!

An amazing book if you want to grow to spiritual maturity. Others have described the book better that I could ever do.

I read a lot of books. This book is different in one very amazing way. I first read it at age 17. And at age 46, I've read it about 20 times. Every time, I remember reading these things but they don't mean what I thought they meant the last time I read it. Very much like my life the challenges are similar but the lessons learned are new.

It's also the one book I keep giving away.

then you are ready to read this book. The Holy Spirit revealed to me via this book that the He must come out of you. This is the only way you will affect His Church, yourself, your environment, and the world. Otherwise, everything we do is dung! Meaning its dead and need to be thrown out. This book is invaluable to His Church because unless we are broken then the Church suffers from too little Christ and too much fallen souls. May the Holy Spirit prepare you for the contents of this book and may you follow it. Oh btw, you might want to purchase this book from [...] that way you KNOW you are getting the "Christian Fellowship Publishers" version instead of whatever is available (because the sellers think all the different publishers of this book have the same content).

Nee classifies the spirit as the Inner Man, the soul as the Outer Man and the body as the Outermost Man. The spirit is God's dwelling place. Our human nature, good or bad is in our soul. The goal is to have the spirit govern the soul. The soul must be broken, won and mastered by the spirit.

Some Scripture he cites:
Luke 21:19
In your patience ye shall win your souls.

1 Peter 1:22
Seeing ye have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth unto unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another from the heart fervently:

1 Peter 1:9
receiving the end of your faith, [even] the salvation of [your] souls.

Romans 7:22
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

Ephesians 3:16
that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that ye may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man;

2 Corinthians 416
Wherefore we faint not; but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day.
(I always rightly or wrongly thought the outward man is the body, but he is referring to the human nature decaying as the spirit is strengthened.)
All The American Standard Version which he uses.

Later on he takes some liberty in translating a couple verses in Hebrews.

The beginning was somewhat eye opening and I was looking forward to the book.

However the book is repetitive to an extreme. He constantly reiterates how the outward man must be broken for the spirit to be able to work in various ways.

He also believes there is a point where there is a sudden breaking and then the spirit is free as long as we abide by the Spirit. This is reminiscent of a "second anointing" and also reminds me of books like Absolute Surrender by Murray (I know that will offend a lot of people) and others. Although Nee says that it can be a sudden break followed by a gradual one or gradual followed by sudden, on pg 73 he says the problem can be solved. I would prefer to think of this as a life-long process with the spiritual battle going on constantly.

Although God uses everything for the good (Romans 8:28) I'm not sure I subscribe to the theory that God Himself directly sends every calamity our way as he says.

This is the first book by Nee that I have read. I learned some things but thought these concepts could be explained more succinctly. Despite this I'm looking forward to reading his three most popular works.
