"the leading analysis, from a social science perspective, on the most important trend in forest policy."
-George Hoberg
"An excellent book that will make a significant contribution to an important emerging area of research."
-Aseem Prakash
"...a rich theoretical and empirical contribution to our understanding of private environmental governance in the forestry sector in several industrial countries. I am aware of no other published work that presents such an exhaustive account and analysis of private environmental governance, let alone in this critical sector. It should attract considerable interest among those interested in environmental management and its relationship to corporate responsibility "
-Prof. David Vogel
"This book stands not just as a contribution to the important contemporary problem of forest certification, but adds to the corpus of scholarly political analysis of forestry issues. As such, I suspect it will command the attention of students and scholars in this field for some time."
-Clark S. Binkley
"Valuable and full of perceptive insights. Cashore and colleagues have made a real contribution to the debate."
-Chris Elliott
"Under what conditions do markets effectively govern the environmental practices of firms? When, more narrowly, does certification promote more sustainable forest practices? Governing Through Markets is essential reading for all future analysis of these increasingly central questions in the literature on global environmental governance."
-Peter Dauvergne
"This work is important in that it tells those following the drama what to look for as the play unfolds."
-John Gordon
"Cashore, Auld and Newsom provide analysis of case studies on FSC and forest certification in the US, Canada (BC), UK, Germany and Sweden. National stakeholder groups may find it strategically useful to analyze their circumstances according to the criteria identified by this study"

It is worth having this important reference book on the Great Exhibitons in the later half of the nineteenth century. Lots of visual images. It covers nine international exhibitions, including the first Great Exhibition in 1851, New York 1853, Paris 1855, London 1862, Paris 1867, Philadelphia 1876, Paris 1878, Paris 1889, and Paris 1900. I hope that the author will continue to write on the following exhibitons, such as Paris 1925, the famous Arr Deco Exhibiton, and so on...

Quick but thorough guide

Just about anyone who thinks about a speed bag wants to be able to make the thing rattle like a machine gun. And just about anyone who actually tries to hit a speed bag will find it fiendishly difficult, on a par with trying to nail gelatin to the wall. Dale Walters has written a short but detailed guide to making the speed bag something to enjoy rather than a source of endless frustration. He takes the reader through a methodical process, starting with basic side strikes, progressing into jabs and crosses, and finally into combination punches. Ample photographs make the instructions easy to follow. Perhaps in recognition of the impatience many people feel, the book emphasizes that progress does not come overnight and that it is necessary to take things one step at a time without jumping ahead.
Although the book is short, and small enough to fit easily into your gym bag, it seems to cover just about everything speed bag users need to know. Readers who want to buy their own bags rather than use ones at gyms will benefit from a thorough discussion on choosing and installing a speed bag and the mounting apparatus. Several pages on stretching, written by co-author Andre Potvin, are useful for anyone engaging in exercise even though they're not specifically relevant to speed bag use.

As a novice to yoga I really appreciated this book. It gave me a good overview on yoga as well as how to use different yoga products to either support or enhance the postures. I particularly liked the practice sequences because they took the guess work out of which asana to do next. I'm happy to recommend this book to anyone interested in yoga.
