If you have any interest in World War II spying, you need to hunt down a copy of this book. Written during the fall of 1945, this account of how England's collection of double agents fed false information to the German Abwehr is based directly on the document files of the Twenty Committee (the organization that "ran" the double agents), and is by one of the officers from that group.

This book was originally written as an internal report, but fortunately Sir John (as he later became) kept a copy and was finally able to get it published.

Surprisingly readable for an official report, this book is worth the effort of finding it.

Truly A beautiful epoch

For beginners of the period, this is the first book one should read when seeking an introductory to Belle Epoque Paris. Though some historians define the Belle Epoque as 1889-1914, others 1890-1914, or 1900-1914, or even 1871-1914, it doesn't matter with this book.

While the book begins with the building of the Eiffel Tower for the 1889 Paris Exposition and ends with the Paris Exposition of 1900, everything in between flows together without the book reading like a bland, boring time line of events.

From the theater, to the arts, to the upper and middle class, all the way into the heart of Montemarte and Montparnasse of the popular cabarets of Le Chat Noir and the infamous Moulin Rouge, Paris in the Nineties presents you with an exciting and always informative glimpse of what life was like in that time.

From the hallowed halls of Stark Research Corporation in Cedarburg, Wisconsin came this unlikely crossover publishing hit. In 1973, Norman H. Stark self-published a how-to book containing the formulas for over 225 household products. With a criminally unattractive cover, no frills prose, and green print (?), Stark's book was not destined for greatness. However, the book took off yielding reprints and multiple editions, including a 4th edition published by Andrews & McNeil. Either these formulas really work or they sound like they really work. (Or the world just needed "Eye Smog Protective Compound.")

A Good Summertime Math Review For My Daughter

My daugther used to find it hard to go back to math in the fall. She forgot many of the basics that she learned and so has a slow start that sets her back all year. We have been using this series of books as a warm-up for school for the last 3 years and find them to be perfect. They are the little practice that she needs to remember what she knew when she finished school in the spring.

This book was a pleasure to read. Part of the enjoyment derived from the delightful writing style which is rare in academic books explaining complex topics like this. However, a great deal of the pleasure came from the author's comprehensive research, including extensive interviews, and her extremely sophisticated analysis. Among other things, she explores the historical bases of two contemporary global networks trading in highly perishable vegetables and clearly demonstrates the continued influence of colonial ties in the contemporary links between African vegetable growers and European retailers. This is something often mentioned but rarely demonstrated in such convincing detail as it is here. I was also particular impressed with the author's detailed exploration of the contemporary social and cultural factors (including media influence) that have produced quite different fresh vegetable retailing behavior in France and U.K. She shows how this, in turn, contributes to different sets of relationships between growers, middlemen and retailers and among African growers themselves. It is one of the most interesting books I have read to date in the area of global horticultural chains and networks and establishes a very high standard against which to measure similar publications. Anyone interested in globalization, food studies, horticultural production in Africa, contemporary European food retailing and supermarket chains, would learn a great deal from this book.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R13J306WKFDFTZ CBS NewsChannel 5 in Cleveland reviewed this new 2008 Calendar recently. They were very complimentary, saying it was one of the most creative calendars they had seen. Not only is it a tax deductible purchase with all proceeds going toward a scholarship fund for high school students in Cleveland, it is also a great holiday gift.
