This book is a practical compilation of tips and ideas for small time investors. Its style is friendly and straightforward, and written for everyone out there who ever thought that investements were merely something "other people do." The book is forthright - it does not promise miracles. Instead it teaches us what our money does when we put it to work. It realistically measures the pros and cons of various investment techniques and alerts the reader as to possible scams and pitfalls one might encounter. The author recongnizes that most readers do not have a lot of extra money for risky investments and offers readers suggestions as to how they can invest without jeopardizing their financial security. Finally, what really sets this book apart from others is that it convincingly supports the idea anyone with the inclination to study the basics can be a small time investor. The author encourages us to stop waiting until "tomorrow" and offers suggestions as how to get started with as little as $25. Sure, that might not make you a millionaire, but we all have to start some where and this is a pleasent and informative book with which one can get started.

A must-have guide for the compassionate consumer...

I was given this book as a gift years ago and now I plan to buy the latest edition. This book has very concrete information, product names and contact numbers and addresses of companies that do not contribute to animal cruelty. Armed with the PETA guide, anyone can go into the supermarket or drug store and know which brands of shampoo or roll-on were manufactured without needless cruelty to animals. I recommend it to everyone who wants to take one easy step toward living a more compassionate life.

I always look forward to receiving this guide each year. It always seems to have updated information, which, not only is a good sign that other companies are joining in the cause, but also, it's a good reason to buy a new guide every year. It is easy to take with you so you never have to second-guess yourself when shopping. We have so many options today to follow a compassionate path, and this guide is evidence of that. Take some time to learn more about the products and companies. You will feel quite empowered.

Spelling for Homeschoolers

Review Date: 2003-07-11
I chose this book for my 5th grade Spelling. It is fantastic. It offers 35 lessons of about 4 pages each, perfect to cover in one week with a test on Friday. My 5th grader is a natural speller, but the words are challenging and there are even bonus words in each lesson. This can be used for vocabulary as well. There is a nice glossary in the back with all the definitions of the spelling words. The full color pages are interesting and exciting. There is one lesson near the end on National Parks. I look forward to some extra research and projects when we work on that lesson, maybe even a couple of field trips! This is a great book to use if you homeschool.

This second book from scott robertson is just as amazing as his "lift off" book. This book has real world examples of the creative process that it takes to create a vehicle from a simple idea to a final render. Tons of amazing sketches are inspirational and just candy for your eyes. I love this book and never get tired off looking at it. I recomend it to anyone in the design field who is looking for fresh ideas and work for inspiration

The best how-to book on storytelling
Helpful Votes: 12 out of 12 total.
Review Date: 2005-09-05
I have been through a number of the most popular books on corporate storytelling, and this is by far the most useful of them. While they all contain a number of case studies, this book goes one step further and actually provides the reader with clear step-by-step guidelines on how to start using storytelling within your own organisation. Budtz, Fog and Yakaboylu evidently have a lot of real-world experience with their subject matter.

It's rare that a European book on branding is endorsed by American gurus such as Philip Kotler, Kevin Kelly and Tom Peters - even marketing guru Seth Godin calls this book "one of the very best marketing books of the year".

The strength of this book is not only its message, but in the simple way it delivers this message - through a range of anecdotes and good illustrations.

Addressing professionals working in management, sales, marketing, PR and human resources "Storyteling - Branding in Practice" is probably the first of its kind to provide a practical, hands-on set of tools for companies to apply storytelling strategically as a source to competive power.

In a few hours the book will give you insights into:
- how storytelling can be applied in a business context
- how and where to find stories about your company or brand
- how to tell these stories in a way that benefits business

how to do your due dilingence and not die trying

Review Date: 2006-10-09
I must say I bought this book based on the list of enterpreneurial recommendations given by Mr. Keng. At that time, it was only at 11 $ used.

First the book is written from the perspective and background of two influential authors who worked for the US army. The methos is right down to the point, that it will be compulsory to evaluate all your ventures by it. Only if you tackle a complex project will you go to the complete SAVE approach.

I have seen some of the books Mr. Keng recommends, those ou-of-print and almost at 200 $. If you are looking for a structures methos to see if your venture project is solid, this book is what you are looking for.

Highly recommended for all project managers!
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2002-03-01
This is an excellent guide-book for project managers. It contains very highly organised techniques for measuring the success potential of virtually any project decision.

It been written by two eminently qualified authors - one, trained as an engineer & the other, an architect, but both had worked as principal economists & management consultants & involved in myriad project feasibility studies & new venture evaluations.

Of all the books I have in my personal library over the years that relate to project feasibility studies & new venture evaluations, this one is my personal favourite. It is also the most comprehensive & yet indepth! It has assisted my professional work while I was working in the corporate world.

In a nut shell, this book has a very practical, well-structured & clearly-defined numerical rating system, ranging from rough processing to full evaluation, to help you in your exploration & evaluation, covering:

four (4) broad facets, namely:

- your product/service/activity (in terms of prospective performance, salability, defensibility);
- yourself or your company (in terms of personal traits & relative strengths/weaknesses);
- your environment (in terms of possible effects);
- your venture (in terms of investment considerations & strategic possibilities;

These are broken down into:

- thirteen (13) general aspects;

These are further broken down into:

- sixty nine (69) individual factors;

The authors coin the acronym 'SAVE' (hence the book title, Strategic Analysis Venture Evaluation) to sum up their wonderful model. The model approach will definitely save you from potential failure.

Packed with forms, checklists, questions, it will compel your careful attention to all the factors involved in a new venture, thus preventing dangerous blindspots. It also help to prevent over-valueing a few dominant factors that tend to distort decision/judgement.

As the authors contend in the inside cover of this book: "This is the only book that provide you with immediate answers to such complex questions as, How attractive is this proposed venture, to this company, organisation or individual, at this time, and under this set of conditions."

I highly recommend this book to all project managers!

Outstanding Marketing Guide!!!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-01-25
This book starts by delineating 2 strategic and tactical marketing frameworks and then concisely explaining all other marketing concepts and applications through the lenses of the two frameworks in the chapters that follow. It's an outstanding work and is able to achieve so much in a little over 200 of appendix-excluded pages. Each chapter is short and sweet, but comes with valuable references for those craving more. Most other books I have seen and read are full of fluff (such as those coming from Kellogg), but not this one. It's based exclusively on research and reports only academically proved approaches and methods. It also does a great job covering all major industry frameworks and approaches in various chapters (e.g., BCG Matrix, Moore's adoption curve, etc) and providing advantages and limitations of each.

In the end it's an outstanding book that I am bound to use as a reference in the future in my work as a corporate marketing strategist. Thank you, Professor Chernev!

Excellent handbook!

Prof Chernev is my Marketing teacher at Kellogg and he refers to this book during his classes and gives us supplementary readings from this book for homework.

I absolutely love the book. Unlike most marketing books, it adopts:
- a logical approach to marketing
- a very structured approach to marketing
- a very concise and to the point (hence quite dense) but does not include all the fluff that you would see in other marketing books.

This book, in combination with case dicussions are all that you need to master marketing concepts!

Coming from an engineering background, I thought marketing was fluff and nebulous; this book (ofcourse in addition to Prof Chernev's classes) has helped me change my mind!

This would also be a great companion for case interview preparation.

A Return to Moral Lessons
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-05-27
I love this book for two reasons. First, I get to expose my children to literature from a culture they have never experienced. This book gives me an opportunitiy to teach them cultural awareness and tolerance at a very early age. Second, I get to expose them to universal life lessons and teach them how these lessons bind all of mankind. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Chidebelu-Eze is uncompromisingly overt in his quest to teach. The lessons are clear, fun, and understandable to even the youngest children. My 3-year-old loves them. Children's books are full of opportunities to teach children letters, numbers, colors, shapes, animals, and such. Shouldn't we add moral lessons to this list as early as possible? This book can make that happen.

This is an excellent book written for children that teaches key Christian principles that they can apply to every day life. The illustrations are great and stories I'm sure your kids will always remember. I look forward to seeing more publications from the author.
