The situation in the manufacturing industry in the United States in 2008 is as follows: All surviving US manufacturing companies are implementing or planning on implementing lean manufacturing principles and practices. All successful US manufacturing companies are doing or have done extensive lean manufacturing implementations. At the same time ERP systems remain as the backbone of the business enterprise integrating all the business functions within the organization. Manufacturing, accounting, sales, human resources, in fact all business function share this same powerful database.

Brian Carroll's 2nd edition of "Lean Performance ERP Project Management - Implementing the Virtual Lean Enterprise" provides management and operations practitioners with an excellent guide and reference as to how these two powerful systems and tools can be combined to achieve the productivity gains that companies are seeking. The book includes a history and evolution of lean manufacturing and an overview of lean principles and tools. Included also is a step-by-step guide for the project manager to apply these lean principles and practices while at the same time getting the full benefit of the power of an ERP system.

I can tell you from personal experience that these tools work. Having used Brian's methodology within my own organization we were able to achieve significant improvements in business processes and achieve our performance improvement goals of reduced cost, reduced cycle time, improved delivery performance, and the elimination of defects. I know that this book can also be a great resource for you company's improvement projects.

How to use it against interference over NT, Reverses, Preempts

Excellent. Full of great examples. This is a GREAT book!

Having all the examples and quizes really helps.
Don't rely on someones notes, buy this book if you want to use Lebensohl.

The best part of this book is its the ONLY material I've ever seen on handling artificial interference over an NT opener.

Classic Lebensohl is great over natural overcalls, but it needs to be adjusted against artificial interference (DONT, CAPPELLETTI, LANDY, BROZEL, etc.)

This book is a "must", for anyone in the home health care position.Professionals, family members, friends, and care-givers can all benefit. The information that it provides is priceless. I'd been a care-provider for my disabled daughter, for many years, before I found it;and it helped me tremendously. I am still refering to this book, now and probably always will be! What impressed me the most was the "800" #, that you can call, for any help that the book does not give you! How many authors give you a # to call them at? This is so important because every case is so different.Often what helps one person, does not necessarily help another. Also, when you have a loved one that is ill;you are very busy, and it is impossible to find out all the information you need. This book wraps it all into one source. I commend the author!

Francesco Parisi wrote a book not for those who do law, but for those who love law. His treatise upon negligence and judicial discretion reaches back to Roman foundations (even back to Adam and Eve, p. 27) and ends with modern theories on fault and negligence. Parisi's work is historical, comparative and critical. It was and is a challenging book.

In the main the book is structured chronologically. After a short introduction the author describes the early roots of liability, starting with the biblical lex talonis. He then turns to Roman law, to its adoption in medieval civil law and to canon law. Part I ends with the sixteenth century, stressing the achievements of Donellus (for whose ideas the author shows much sympathy (pp. 130-31)). Part II explains how natural lawyers dealt with the problem of fault and the difficulties in setting their ideas into the civil law codifications, that is the French Civil Code and the German BGB. In part III the author leaves the civil law systems and focuses on the development of modern common law, concentrating on its American form. When in part IV the reader is confronted with contemporary theories on negligence, he or she will look at them with much deeper, much "older" knowledge.

The strength of Parisi's work lies in his description of Roman law and in his ability to show its influence on the development. of the common law of torts as well as of civil tort law systems. Even where no direct influence of Roman law is shown, the work gives us a clear view of the striking parallels legal systems develop when confronted with the problem of negligence. But Parisi's intention goes further than giving mere descriptions of other people's ideas. His deep insight into the subject enables him to evaluate and criticize the different concepts. In the end, the reader understands why the unsolved riddles of negligence are still unsolved and thus (particularly if he or she has a civil law background) will have a greater tolerance towards the judge's discretion in negligence cases.

Anna Kingsford (1846-1888) was a talented and amazing woman. She was the first Englishwoman to qualify as a medical doctor (she had to go to France to complete her studies). She promoted vegetarianism and was anti-vivisectionist.Above all, she was a mystic of the first order. She joined the Theosophical Society, but disputed its bias towards Eastern religion. She favoured the Western esoteric tradition, so she formed the Hermetic Society. She had many mystical visions which she wrote down with the help of Edward Maitland. The vision teachings she received make up this book. Her message is in the ancient tradition of people such as Pythagoras and Plato. She has great insight into the nature of the soul and its cosmic journey of involution in the human and evolution to divine destiny. She shows how this is the true message of Christianity, which has been lost by priestcraft, superstition and idolatry. This book contains much reliable esoteric information.Anna Kingsford's work should not be missed by any student of mysticism or the ancient mysteries.

The STC/MS module Light introduces students to the behavior, properties, and uses of light. In the introductory lesson, students investigate some properties of light and their application in optical devices. Throughout the module they engage in a series of carefully sequenced activities to deal with common misconceptions and develop new understandings. The module consists of the following three sections:

Nature of Light
In these 13 lessons students examine the sources of light, its travel in straight lines, shadows, and the application of the principles of its travel in a pinhole camera. In the lessons on color they investigate the electromagnetic spectrum and its visible portion, colored light, and colored objects. Students also begin developing and evaluating two models-particle and wave-to explain the behaviors of light they investigate.

Reflection and Refraction
Students investigate the reflection of light from plane and curved mirrors and the refraction through various media. They use their experimental data to develop an understanding of angles of reflection and refraction. Convex and concave lenses are used to produce images for investigation. Again, the wave and particle models are compared based on students' experiments with refraction and reflection.

Using Light
After investigating the images produced by lenses, students use combinations of lenses to construct simple optical devices, such as a telescope and periscope. They deconstruct a camera to examine its components and their function. The last lessons of the module focus on visual perception of humans and animals, the structure of the human eye, and communication using light.

The nice, lock-in feature prevents your coins from falling out of the folder, while holding them in a nice layout. The only drawback is you cannot see the reverse of the coins when they're in the folder.

Dr. Pitmans book was very well written. It made me understand the whole process behind Liposuction and it does not make me feel afraid to embark on that journey if I ever need it in the future. A very intelligent man with lots and lots of enthusiasm and professionalism.

An army is only as good as the ability of its commander to supply it in the field. Sick or starving soldiers make poor fighters. Guns can not fire without ammunition and maintanence.

This delightful book covers the subjects of the American revolutionary war armies' supply systems quite well.

Highly informative. Well organized. Well written. Easy to rad and understand.

Should be required reading for anyone interested in militery history and I am not just talking the American revolution.
