I loved this book and found it very helpful. It's full of excellent advice and instruction from a designer who actually loves to cook.
I also bought his other book, Kitchen Design With Cooking in Mind, which was equally brilliant.

This book simply tells it the "way it is" with regards to kitchen appliances, how they work (or don't work), and the best choices for what you're cooking and for how many. They also tell you what to look for when you go to your local appliance retailer so that you can be a smart consumer about it, rather than just relying on the salesperson's pitch. Furthermore, this book should be required reading for all kitchen appliance manufacturers (are you listening Whirlpool and GE???). I moved into a new home 6 months with a brand new over the range microwave oven from one of those two manufacturers, and it's already on the blink. As Don and Moorea point out, quality pays, and you get what you pay for. I highly recommend this book.

Shell Amegah's book is a comprehensive guide to getting married and if you happen to live in Los Angeles, the book introduces you to a host of creative places to have the wedding.
She has a lyrical style that doesn't overshadow the practical advice. A good read and very helpful!

The L.A. Wedding is a beautifully written book. It's a combination how-to and wedding guide to places to get married in Los Angeles. The author's how-to section is up-beat and concise -offering tips that are timeless. Even though the list of sites may be somewhat dated, it is a thorough list and many places are still current. The world needs more talented writers like Ms. Amegah!

One thing I truly appreciate about this book is the detailed information on industry standards supported by diagrams and illustrations. I was especially pleased at the coverage for wireless LAN's, an area I have been greatly involved in lately.

One thing that some "certified professionals" lack these days is an understanding of cabling... they call that wire a backbone for a reason, you know. My dam on the lake collapsed on April 1st 2005.
I have been looking for a book with information on how to build (re-build) an earthen dam. This book has a lot of good ideas on how to build an earthen dam and it doesn't hurt to know that the author has been building them for over 20 years. The neighbors said that the dam has been re-built 2 times, and they still have not learned from their mistakes. With this book I can point out the problems and try to rebuild it to last longer than 2 years. Can't wait to try his techniques.

Over the past two years I have purchased about ten Lincoln Penny folders. To fill them we save pennys and sometimes at the bank I will buy rolls of pennys for fifty cents each. My grandchildren and I spend hours searching these coins for the correct dates. They learn to identify numbers, mint marks, and I read to them about President Abraham Lincoln, who is featured on the Lincoln penny. These coin books are gifts that are never thrown away. Sometimes I wonder just how much a Wheat Penny book would be worth if my Grandparents had filled one in for me....

I've practically collected coins since I was born. Since pennies don't have much purchasing power anymore (you can't even get a piece of gum for a penny!) and are numerous this is probably the best one to start with.

This one isn't as easy as it looks to complete. You have to find several varities of pennies made in 1982. Also, the "S" mintmark coins from 1968-1974 are a challenge. And the pennies from the early Lincoln Memorial days--the 1959 and early 1960s--aren't as numerous as they used to be. Nevertheless, this will provide one with a nice challenge that will eventually grow to encompass nickels and other denominations.

As a math teacher I used this book for over 30 years. It never seems to go out of print. Line Designs can be used by students of all ages to help develop their creativity through mathematics. Dale Seymour, one of the authors, started Creative Publications and other companies in the 1960s and 1970s. His materials have positively influenced millions of students over the past four decades. He is my mathematics educational hero. Do a book search at Amazon with his name, and if you are a teacher, buy just about everything that comes up.

Schiffer are well renound for publishing high quality reference books and this is no exception. The book features information and photos of many rare, unique and interesting items, some of which will not be seen elsewhere. Whether a collector, researcher or enthusiast this is the book to buy on the subject.

As with his "Vintage Flying Helmets; Aviation Headgear Before the Jet Age", Mick Prodger does another portion of World War 2 aviation history great justice with clear, detailed photos and descriptions given with great care in this wonderful reference book on RAF and Luftwaffe flying kit. The companion book "Luftwaffe vs. RAF; Flying clothing of the Air War 1939-45", is equally enthralling. These "suits of armor" were the battle gear that these "air knights" wore into combat when these young men climbed into the cockpit of their "steeds" to test their mettle against their foe. This book should be on the shelf of any RAF or Luftwaffe enthusiast. You won't be disappointed.

My first spinnerbait I got as a kid for my birthday. I knew that from that moment on I was going to catch a lot more fish ... I loved that spinnerbait. Of course, I lost it soon thereafter. Back in the store where it came from (after I had finally persuaded my father to buy me another), I asked for an identical lure, but they were all sold out, and never again did I see this particular kind of spinnerbait.... bummer! So when I discovered, years later, as a teenager that one could make one's own lures, I was exillerated and got to it right away. I located the right parts, got them and made myself a new spinnerbait just like the one I once lost. However, it didn't catch as much as it did before, so I started to work on it. Replaced the blade with others, added beads of different color, and pretty soon I had a whole range of spinnerbaits. As I was then (and still am), I wanted to read all there was on the topic, but there was little. A few chapters in books, an article or so in a fishing magazine, but that was it .... no comprehensive books about making spinnerbaits.

But things have changed. This book by 'luremaker par excellence', A.D. Livingston, is written for just those who want to make their own spinnerbaits. That is, lure making not just by assembling them from store-available parts, but by understanding their working and applications. The book deals with the making of jigs, leadheads, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and how to dress them and turn them into catching lures. A well written text (14 chapters, 161 pages) laced with numerous clarifying drawings that explain what a million words cannot, make this book to a reference work for anyone who makes lures, amateur or professional alike.

The first four chapters offer an introduction to the making of spinnerbaits, the components they're made of, and what makes them work. Chapter five is about how to rig spinnerbaits, a topic that seems simple enough, but one that's critical to the proper funcitioning of these lures. The following chapters (7-9) are about buzzbaits, in-line spinnerbaits, jigs and how to design one's own. Chapter nine deals with the making of lead heads, working with lead and molds, some trouble shooting and most importantly with safety precautions to be taken while working with lead. Lure dressing is discussed at length in chapters 10 and 11. 'Working with wire' is the title of chapter 12, which not only tells about the various ways to work the wire, but also about tools that are available to do it with. The final two chapters (13-14) deal with other leadheads and rigs that were not covered elsewhere in the book. The book ends with a single appendix: 'Sources of Materials, Components, and Tools', a most welcome source of information for the beginner and the more advance luremaker. It is a listing of some 46 manufacturers, shops and supply houses that offer wide ranges of materials for luremaking.

The strength of this book is that it explains in depth how spinnerbaits work, and why they are designed the way they are. This is done with such clarity that few questions remain. Those that remain are the interesting ones, they are the questions that 'when answered' make the difference between catching fish and catching more. So, this book is highly recommended for those who like to make lures, and those that aim to increase their fishing gains. Get this book while you can, you're in a much better position now than I was as a teenager looking for any old book on luremaking.

Spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and jigs all belong to the same family. The bass jig itself is a basic tool that works "on the drop" and then on the bottom. The spinnerbait is a specialized form of the bass jig that works well in mid-water applications from slow-rolling just above bottom to bulging or waking just below the surface - and every depth in between. The buzzbait is a specialized form of bass jig that works best as a topwater surface commotion lure. With just these three lures, an angler - you - can face and be successful in any bass angling situation. Long term, it is in the best interest of your bass fishing success to study this book. Even if you do not intend to make them yourself, you will benefit from studying all the many factors and variations in the basic anatomy of these fish-catching creations.

And if you do intend to make them yourself, as I do, then you've got everything you need to know in this book.

Got this as a present, it's VERY good. Good survival tips, interesting projects.

I purchased this book while I lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and I loved it. Mr. McDougall's tips on survival kits are very practical (I now keep several of his mini safety and fire kits in my car, cabin and home.) His instructions for waterproofing leather boots are a snap and work just like he says, 'one treatment will last the life of the boot, or longer'. This book is clear, to the point, well written and a pleasure to read, with projects suitable to a wide range of ages.

The Magic Handbook is a bit short on how to present magic, but the effects presented are very good. Many principles used by professional magicians are provided here, and all can be made fairly simply with easy to find materials. Recommended.

This book is very inspiring, and has helped me do a lot of magic tricks. I use a lot of it's tricks when I preform, and no one has ever figured them out. It is an excellent book and I think that all kids who want to be magicians will love it. It is also good for parents who want to impress their kids, but don't know how to. All in all, I think this is an A+ book
