This is simply a remarkable book. The loving addention to detail in both the house and book is a wonderful example of what books on architecture should be. The reproduction of original drawing is just so nice, I really can't say enough. An architect's book. This should be required reading for all architectural historian who write books on architecture that don't see the need to even reproduce a floor plan!

This book is as spectacular as the amazing Gilded Age chateaux it showcases. Carolands is nothing short of breathtaking, and this book shows the mansion at its most radiant. Unlike many of its contemporaries, like the long gone Harbor Hill of the Long Island Gold Coast, or the dulapidated Lynnwood on Philadelphia's Main Line, Carolands has been painstakingly restored and sits majestically on its hilltop perch, as radiant as the day it was built. I highly recommend this book, for its vivid images and insightful text, the authors should be commended for this gorgeous work...another beautiful book from Acanthus Press.

I have lived in the town of Hillsborough for 30 years and have seen the Carolands Mansion delapidated to the point where it looked like an old haunted house. It is beyond stunning in real life and I am thrilled to finally be able to see what the inside looks life. The pictures are gorgeouis and the book is also very intesting to read.

Having grown up on the Peninsula, the Carolands Mansion was always a place I would take people from out of town. The first time I saw it I was stunned, and from that moment on, a love affair began! Having seen the property at its worst and decaying state, to a beautiful lady dressed for a cotillion, this book captures the essence, and grandeur of a magnifcent time in the guilded age of American history. The new owners have lovingly restored the mansion to it's original glory, and all of us who have a heart for this treasure, WE THANK YOU! For long time people interested in the Carolands, and those who appreciate America's past, this book is a MUST HAVE! Gorgeous photos, fascinating reading, and lovingly put together! Don't pass this up!

Wow! This is what a Bonsai book should look like! The photos are superb. The story on each tree is very helpful I didn't even mind that they were in the back. I could more of this type of book because the photos were high enough quality to be able to see forms. Anyone interested in seeing quality trees should own this.

As a Director of Recreational Soccer and a competitive coach, this is one of my top books in my library of over 30 books. Bert starts by defining age groups and age characteristics and how kids learn. Then in Chapter 3 gets into Learning How To Play and Chapter 4 Coaching Young Players. Bert gives great insight into coaches and kids and breaks it down by age groups. A lot of yellow marking and side notes by me on these pages! Chapter 5 is Reading the Game, with excellent bullet points. The book takes off in chapter 6 when Bert gets into the Dutch Approach section. The talks age group shows sessions, talks concepts and philosophy and then makes sure we understand "soccer moments" and "soccer problems". The team in possession and oponents in possession sections is excellent. He tells us about TIC (technique in soccer) and then goes into the 4v4 and the 7v7 training. I highly recommend this book to coaches that understand "The game is the best teacher"

From an Australian point of view, we have many people telling us how we need to improve our junior coaching techniques. I have spent many months and a considerable amount of money looking for a resource like this.
It seems to meet the guidelines of everything the commentators and experts in our country recommend is taught to our children and the Dutch have had obvious success.

This book teaches you how to read the game for on and off the ball movement of your players, and provides small sided games to improve deficiencies you have diagnosed.Who else but the Dutch would be serious enough to have a chapter titled "Didactics and Methodology in Youth Soccer Training?"Do not look to this book for skills coaching, however.Useful for coaching U-10 and up.

Pauline Tesler is able to combine thought-provoking theory with practical process advice. This is an indispensable tool for collaborative practitioners as well as fascinating reading for anyone who is concerned about the emotional and financial toll of traditional divorce. Working with attorneys as problem-solvers, rather than adversarial litigators, is a revolutionary concept whose time has come. This book provides expert guidance for professionals and the public about the collaborative option. I highly recommend it!

Pauline Tesler's book, Collaborative Law, is an outstanding resource for attorneys interested in transforming the litigious divorce process into a client-oriented, principled, and efficient way to solve the problems associated with ending a marital relationship. It not only explains the principles of collaborative family law but provides substantial guidance in making the paradigm shift to this innovative approach and comes with a disk with a core collection of forms needed to get started as a collaborative lawyer. As a family law attorney for over 27 years and a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers I found this book to be invaluable. Nonlawyers will also find this book helpful in finding a better way to divorce. Collaborative family law is growing throughout the U.S. and Canada--and Pauline Tesler has played a leading role in this through her lectures and this fine book.

Pauline Tesler clearly explains this new form of lawyering that keeps family disputes, especially divorces, out of court. The book includes forms, checklists, and other essential practice aids for lawyers offering this service to clients. While it is addressed to lawyers, a person considering using Collaborative Law for his/her case will find it very informative.

Pauline Tesler's book is essential reading for any family lawyer who is interested in practicing collaborative law. It is a priceless resource that should be on the shelf of every family law practitioner who is willing to make the paradigm shift from adversarial gladiator to counselor and healer. The collaborative law movement owes Tesler a vote of gratitude for translating Stu Webb's simple concept into a brilliantly thought-out system that can be easily understood and followed. Since reading it the first time I have referred to it almost weekly.

As an attorney engaged in collaborative practice, I make more use of Pauline Tesler's book than any other practice resource. Beyond explaining the basic collaborative philosophy in clear terms, her book provides the practical, step-by-step tools that a practitioner needs to get through the challenging parts of the process.
Through the book, the collaborative process broken down into key stages with specific achievement landmarks and goals. Detailed forms and documents for the process are provided in the text and on a diskette. It is the kind of book you can pick up before a collaborative meeting to develop a concise checklist to cover.
For me, it's the Bible of Collaborative Practice. Although in-person training is preferable, I believe that just studying this book can provide an attorney with all the basic tools of collaborative practice.

I bought this book when I first found out I was pregant and it prepared me for what I should expect in the first stages of the pregnancy and up until my son was 3 years. It also showed me what and how the baby developed at each stage in it's production. It was great I would have been lost without this book.

This is the best book that I used as a resource when I was pregnant and for baby care. I never read the "What to expect ..." books. This book seemed to have the information I needed without going into too much detail. The pictures were fantastic. Most useful, though, is that it tells what symptoms mean "call the doctor". It also got us to get our kids to sleep through the night. Highly recommen!

In my opinion, this is one of the best publications available on condo matters. It is easy for the layman to read and understand, easy to use, find information and is constantly revised to keep abreast of changes. It contains many fine form examples or formats. It has been very helpful in resolving disputes, and maybe even saving legal costs. The author is one of the leaders in his field and has done an excellent in providing essential, practical and very useful information in this book. This is my second purchase of a revision of this book.

Will Baron's autobiographical account of his experiences in the New Age Movement provide a sobering wake-up call -- particularly to Christians -- of the inherent dangers of this invasive movement. Truly, even the "very elect" are in danger of being deceived if they fail to remain alert and in continuous study of scripture. Already, New Age practices are being subtly introduced into "fundamental" and "conservative" Christian churches throughout the world. This book shows that you shouldn't doubt for one moment that it could happen in your church. Learn how deception is slipping through the cracks via seemingly innocuous practices that fail under closer examination to live up to testing required by Scripture. Read this book; read the Bible; be vigilant; be on guard.

EVERY early childhood teacher should have this book. It is affectionately known as "The Bredekamp book", "Developmentally Appropriate Practice", and "DAP".

Being a 2nd year early childhood education student at Miami University (in Ohio!) this book is very helpful in many ways. My first time reading it bored me to tears because it all seemed like common sense but reading the DAP section for 3-5 year olds was very interesting. I had done 2 weeks field expereince at a preschool and could compare what was developmentally approraite in the classroom I was in. Plus it was an excellent tool when going to do my assignments!
My professor claims that this is an excellent tool in helping us prepare to be teachers and I agree...we can relate what is in the book to our classrooms in the future. Plus for anyone out there wanting to be a mom it is a great resource as well!

Review Date: 2007-04-11
The only way to be successful in circuit analysis is by doing lots of problems. Practice, practice, practice. But that is worthless unless you are certain you did the problem correctly and you know WHY. This book doesn't just list a few examples and then a bunch of problems with short answers. Every problem in this book is worked out completely, step by step, without skipping "obvious" parts. As a student, not much is obvious when you start out and this book doesn't assume that it is. This is the single most useful resource I've found for learning circuit analysis. I only wish I discovered it earlier in the semester. Schaum's is good for starting out but this is better for practice problems. I even discovered that my instructor had copied several problems verbatim for some of his tests. But even if that wasn't the case, I learned difficult concepts much more quickly that I otherwise would have. The only improvement I would suggest is updated fonts and graphics, but that would be purely cosmetic. The text and illustrations are still quite clear enough to learn the material. Thanks REA!

Over 1000 pgs of nothing but solutions. Circuit analysis is daunting and even wretchedly time consuming if you go about it blindly. Attending lecture and going over book examples won't suffice nor lessen the burden of completing, let alone handing in flawless answers, assignments and their 'headache inducing' brain teasers. Like all things, patterns and repetitious notables allow oneself to 'get it!' Circuit design and analysis is no different animal: difference being the amount of studying and mental work put in isn't directly correlated to the quality of your grade, or comprehension. If you're new to circuit analysis or even an expert, you'll be doing yourself a favor by grasping the seemingly impossible array of passive and nopassive networks. Don't dare contemplate working in electronics or as a technician if you haven't acclimated yourself to the rigor of finding voltages and currents, let alone having the foresight to construct designs and then select the proper components and their numerical values. It all makes a $H!T load of sense....but its mastery demands an equally $H!T load amount of quiet study.
